Fortius Sport & Health is a 148,000 sq. ft. integrated athlete development centre in Burnaby, B.C. Our team of strength & conditioning coaches, physicians, therapists, sport scientists and other
experts work together to change the game, and change lives for athletes of all levels and abilities.
The Fortius HockeySTRONG Off-Season Program is a premier training program designed for the physical preparation of hockey players, from youth to professional levels.
Fortius Sport & Health and Hockey House are excited to come together for the first time to offer a joint, comprehensive off-season training program. Fortius specializes in dryland training and
Hockey House in on-ice skill development. Register for the full package, or choose to do dryland or on-ice only as it suits your off-season schedule.
Hockey House teaches specific on ice hockey skills to develop players and elevate their game to the next level. Hockey House is run by Josh Bonar & Mitch Fyffe, professional coaches with a combined coaching experience of 10+ years and playing time in the BCHL, WHL & Pro levels. They currently coach at BWC Academy and run several on ice programs throughout the lower
mainland, from youth level to professional.
At Fortius, athletes have the opportunity to access other services and coaches outside of the scheduled programming. These include:

• Sport dietitian sessions• Sport therapy sessions

The Fortius HockeySTRONG Pro training program focuses on developing SPEED, STRENGTH and POWER that translates to improved performance on the ice. The evidence-based training program starts with a physiotherapy musculoskeletal screen and applied sport science testing that determine targeted goals for each individual player.The weekly program includes: • 4 x 90min strength & conditioning group sessions (2 training
days include on-the-floor physiotherapist support)• 1 X 45min regeneration group session with a physiotherapist• 1 X 45min energy system and training group session (indoor
cycling studio or outdoor field work)• 1 X 30min massage therapy session• Daily readiness tracking with our applied sport science team
In this 7-week program, Hockey House high performance coaches provide the players with fast-paced game simulation drills designed to improve skills they generally don’t have the opportunity to work on. All concepts and drills have an elite level of difficulty and intensity. This program includes 2 X 60 minute sessions per week.Emphasis is placed on: • Teaching a high-level skill and breaking down how the skill is
performed• Explaining the advantage players will gain from using the skill• Demonstrating through drills and video when and where it is
advantageous for the players to use the skill in a game

The Fortius HockeySTRONG Junior/WHL/College training program focuses on developing SPEED, STRENGTH and POWER that translates to improved performance on the ice. The 8-week, evidence-based training program starts with a physiotherapy musculoskeletal screen and group applied sport science testing that determine targeted goals for each individual player.The weekly program includes: • 4 x 90min strength & conditioning group sessions• 1 X 45min regeneration group session with a physiotherapist• 1 X 45min energy system training group session (indoor

This 7-week skate is fun, intense and competitive with athletes on the ice for two 50-minute sessions per week. Hockey House’s focus is on creating a fast-paced skate, allowing players to get ahead of the competition by learning new skills and improving on existing skills. Generally taught at game speed, players will also have a chance to implement these skills into fast-paced, game-realistic drills. All concepts and drills have a very high level of difficulty and intensity.

The Fortius HockeySTRONG Midget/Junior Prep training program focuses on developing SPEED, STRENGTH and POWER that translates to improved performance on the ice. The 8-week, evidence-based training program starts with a fullbody movement analysis and injury prevention screen, groupapplied sport science testing that determine targeted goalsfor each individual player. The training sessions are Monday toFriday and are 90 minutes in length, designed to make playersstronger, faster, and more resilient for their upcoming season.
Midget U17 This 8-week skate has been created specifically for players with the goal to play Junior one or two years down the road. Hockey House coaches help improve the skills the players already know and implement new skills that most players at this age have never tried or seen before. Most drills are performed at a fast pace and are technically difficult in order to push players to get them out of their comfort zone. Most concepts have a high level of difficulty and intensity. This program includes 6 X 60 minute sessions per week.
Jr Prep U18 In this 7-week program the focus is placed on performing elite skills at elite-level speed. Designed for players who are trying to make the jump to Junior, this program has been tailored to teach players to act and react to the game faster. Once a skill is mastered, Hockey House coaches transition players to then implement these into game-realistic drills where the players will have the opportunity to determine 1) if the skill/move was effective, 2) the best time to use it and 3)the advantage they gained from it. All concepts have a high levelof difficulty and intensity. This program includes 2 X 50 minutesessions per week.

The Fortius HockeySTRONG Bantam training program focuses on developing SPEED, STRENGTH and POWER that translates to improved performance on the ice. The 8-week, evidence-based training program starts with a full body movement analysis and injury prevention screen, group applied sport science testing that determine targeted goals for each individual player. The training sessions are Monday to Friday and are 90 minutes in length, designed to make players stronger, faster and more resilient for their upcoming season.
In the 8-week, Hockey House Bantam program, the focus is placed on how skills are performed. Whether it be punch turns, protecting the puck with one hand, change of angle shots or even basic stride work, Hockey House high performance coaches break down skills so players are able to comfortably perform them. Repetition is key in order to master a skill, so Hockey House provides a variety of intense, fun and competitive game-realistic drills, designed to provide players with the opportunity to repeat each skill. Most concepts have a mid to high level of difficulty and intensity. This program includes 6 X 60 minute sessions per week.
