FORWARD
This small of booklet is a compilation of report from the Scout Troop on behalf of Bhutan and
Bhutan Scout Association, who went to attend the Go Solar Jamboree in Thailand from 11th
December -15th
December, 2017. It highlights on what happened each passing day in Thailand
and its experiences. Booklet also covers vast experiences of each member from the delegation
and its outcome as a whole. Hence enjoy reading it!!!

Day 1 (08/12/2017)
ON THE WING OF DRAGON TO THE LAND OF THE WHITE ELEPHANT
22 scout leaders sworn in the national scarves mount on the wing of the Dragon to take voyage to
the land of the white elephant (Thailand) to represent Bhutan and Bhutan Scout Association to
the Solar Jamboree in Chonaboli. The chill weather of the Paro welcomed us to board us to the
South East Asian country, Thailand.
About 5 hours flight which took off at 3:45 pm from Bhutan halted for an hour in Bodhgaya and
the continued its voyage and reached Bangkok at around 2230 hours. We were well received by
the Mr.Jigsaw (Thai Scout) and his team in the Thai International Airport. The excitement grew
and filled the brimmed of our emotions to explore Thailand in depth.
Immediately after the necessary checkout formalities we headed towards Chonburi. We were
profoundly received by the Director and few of his Staff in the Hotel at around 2430 hours. We
had the lavish dinner after the tiring journey and bid farewell to the day.

DAY 2 AND 3(9-10/12/2017)
NANGNOOCH TOUR
NANGNOOCH GARDEN VISIT.
The third day of 22 Bhutanese Scout members for 1st Scouts go solar participant was totally
excited to explore the Nangnooch Garden and Resort when we were checked in the evening of
9th
December. And to much surprise our morning time started from 8.30 in going around the
largest garden available in Thailand.
ACTION THEATRE VISIT.
After the visit to the largest garden we all were guided for an big surprise of getting an
opportunity of watching their national dramas and dance along with 2,008, people and with us it
makes 2030 the most awesome show was in realizing the essential contribution of elephant
during their ancient war along with their four fathers. We took an break for a lunch.
PARODY ART MUSEUM VISIT.
Right after our lunch we were taken to the very beautiful place in which it consisted of a museum
which was based on art works. Many famous people and celebrities of world are painted and
hanged on the walls. Since it was first time visit to Thailand most of us were taking lots of
picture with their models and sculptures.
GRAND DINNER.
As it came for the day end of our great stay in Nangnooch Garden and Resort, we were given a
grand dinner offer in which they presented us with their cultural program and in respect we too
gave some performance and ended the day.

Day 4 (11/12/2017)
IN THE CAMP
We headed towards the Vajiravadh National
camp at 1000 hours. After 2 hours drive we
reached the camp site. It was so eye pleasing
to see many tenant and teacher (national and
International). We established ourselves into
different work and then set up the tents and
other necessary arrangements for the camp
which was mandated by them. We even
hosted our national flag proudly in the camp.
We were placed in Sub-Camp 1 with the
name Jigme Troop. At 1400 hours we had an
opening ceremony in the Sub-Camp itself by hoisting national flag of Thailand and other flags.
Dr. Diskul Kasemsawat, inspector of Ministry of education, Vice Chairperson of the Board of
Directors of the Solar Scout presided in the scarifies
of the spirit of the King Rama VI in the 1st Solar
Scout Jamboree in Vajiravudh nation scout camp,
Sriracha, Chonburi.
Mr. Prasert Boonruang, secretary General of the
National Scout Organization of Thailand, Presides
over the Opening Ceremony of the 1st Solar Scout
Jamboree. The Secretary General welcomed all the
1500 participants who attended the Jamboree. The international participants were from Bhutan,
Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia
and Vietnam. The day took ended with the dinner, Ice
break program in the evening and the troop in council
with the troop for next day’s program.

Day 5 (12/12/2017)
SWING
We kicked of the day as usual by taking breakfast and
than attending the flag ceremony where we were
briefed on the activities that needs to be attended. Out
of four bases the jamboree had we were to attend base
1 and the Base 2.
Base 1:
The base 1 had 4 sub bases which were all related to
the solar and its energy. We were exhibited with how
we can use solar energy for different purposes like charging the electronic gadgets, saving the
water from getting wasted and history of Solar Power in
Thailand. We were also introduced on solar Bike and Air
Conditioner too. The Bikes were purely designed by using
the solar energy which ran at very good speed and also
solar Ovens.
We were also taught how to make fans. It was bit
interesting to go back to the childhood days and make fan
out of paper to be taken in the air and play. Solar navy Scout club of Thailand seems
encouraging as it has member who is as old 67 years too. The solar heater and the solar quiz
ended the activity till lunch. We had our lunch from 1200 hours and took rest for a while to
prepare for next base.
Base 2 consisted of 4 activities namely Solar Dome, Solar Art, Solar Box and light of the sun.
Here in different activities we taught how to draw a picture using a solar energy through lens on
the wooden plank. We learned How to make solar dome to cook using the energy of sun and how
to create toys like mini vehicles using the solar energy. Finally we were also taught how to read
timing based on the position of the sun and

Day 6 (13/12/2017)
2ND
DAY ACTIVITY
The daily routine continued with
breakfast and Assembly from where
we were directed towards the base
camp named Solar Lamp. The base
was filled with how to make solar
lamp using a bottle, improvised
solar boat, solar bug and the solar
car in the morning. All the gadgets
were purely made and created using
the solar energy and not battery. We
were taught on making it but needs
materials after all. But this gadgets
can really save energy and reduce
E-waste if implement it.
In the afternoon we visited another base named
Home Solar Base which comprised f Solar cells,
Deep-cycle battery, how solar panel function, uses
of solar energy in our daily lives and types of
inverters. We were thoroughly taken through this
module by the resource persons whereby
equipping us with the knowledge on it and how we
can use it to save other non renewable energies.In
the evening we have Cultural exchange show and
then bid good night to everyone.

Day 7 (14/12/2017)
TOURING
As the activities were finished so day 7 was kept for the closing ceremony hence whole day was kind of
free for us. Thus we took hiking in the campsite and than visited Chonburi Town. Later we received
certificates and attended the closing ceremony.

Day 8 (15/12/2017)
ADIUE TO THE CAMP
We conducted a flag lower ceremony for our troop
and than dismantled the camp to bid adieu to the1st
Solar Jamboree. We waved good bye to the camp at
around 1000 hours as our host school came to
receive us.
We moved to Chonburi again where we
made a visit to a Marine Museum when we
got an opportunity to see lots of animals and
plants present in the water.
Than we visited a Thai Buddhist Temple in
Chonburi which was really amazing
Visited beach where we enjoyed a lot with all those activities on the beach.
Evening we had a dinner party in the hotel where we enjoyed the night by singing to the
fullest and than bid adieu to the day.

Day 9 (16/12/2017)
IN BANGKOK
We had breakfast at Chon Inter hotel
and than said good bye to Chonburi
and moved towards Bangkok. In 2
and ½ hours we reached here in
Bangkok where we were taken
directly to the host school. We were
welcomed with a ceremony.
Welcome speech by the Asst.
Director of Wittayalai School and we
were shown a documentary on the
development of that school. We
exchanged souvenirs. We visited the
school museum maintained by the school which was extraordinarily good and out of words to
explain. The school museum contained the history, tracks of alumni, victory awards and many
more.
After that we experienced the sky drive and visited scout shop in Thailand. Finally came to the
Asia Airport Hotel and relaxed for the next activities at around 2300 hours.

Day 10 (17/12/2017)
BLISSFUL DAY IN BANGKOK
It was one of the busiest day in Bangkok touring from one destination to another one which was
amazing, beautiful and majestic in nature. We visited the great stupa of Bangkok, Mountain
Temple and finally the Grand palace where the late King of Thailand’s funeral took place. we
took almost 14 hours to tour this area and finally reached hotel at around 2300 hours. Obviously
it was exhausting one nevertheless a great satisfaction at heart.

ADIEU TO THAILAND
On date 18th they gave us off day to shop whole day guided by them and on 19
th Morning at 3am they
drop us to Airport and did all what they can do for us and finally waved good bye to meet again at 0700
hours. We landed Bhutan safely at 0945 hours in Paro International Airport with the blessing of all.

MOMENTS TO BE CHERISHED
1. Everybody present their loved to Bhutanese delegation as our team were open, friendly
and wanted to get exposed to others.
2. Our presentation and cultural program was exceptionally praised by most of the scout
delegation from other countries.
3. Our songs and national dress was loved a lot that most of them either tired wearing or
singing our songs which our scout leaders truly deed it.
4. Our scout leaders were praised for their disciplined in the camp and helping hands to
other.
5. Our drill was praised by many NSOs.
6. Our delegation was always found working in team with punctuality.
