The NN Tennis Booster Club meeting took place at Norman North High School in the multipurpose room at 8:00 pm (changed from the 7:00pm meeting due to parent teacher conferences with announcement via email the day before). The next meeting will be in early December and will be announced to the email list later in November. Booster Club president Mike Magsig opened the meeting. Coach Bischoff Was introduced as the boys’ and girls’ tennis coach and gave a brief description of his background and goals for the year. The teams will be combined for the first time and will both practice at the high school. He emphasized the moto: “Two teams, one family, one goal.” Both the boys’ and girls’ teams held tryouts and will consist of 12 players per team (6V, 6JV). He also reviewed the completed schedules for both teams. All players were reminded to sign

up for tennis for their 7th hour in the spring. Prior to the first day of practice all players will have to have their Rank One forms and physical completed in order to participate. Coach Bischoff thanked the Norman North AD, Courtney Norton, for all of her support to the tennis program which includes warm ups for the players and miscellaneous supplies. Finally, Coach Bischoff reported he plans to hire an OU student, Rohan, as his assistant coach. Rohan will probably start in February, and he will run practice when Coach Bischoff is traveling for tournaments. Next, the booster club president described our required attendance at the monthly NAA meetings and asked parents to volunteer to rotate attendance at these meetings (contact [email protected]) to help share the responsibility. Thanks to Greg Diehl and Kristen Dillon for volunteering to help T.J. Sonne and Patricia Yeo-Saltus with this. This year the Norman public schools require all teams to purchase Under Armour uniforms. The school will purchase the warm ups for all the athletes (new in 2018) but these must be returned to the school at the end of the season. Parents must purchase uniforms directly from the NN Tennis Team Store located at www.bsnteamsports.com and use the Access Code – NNBTENN17 for boys’ uniforms or NNGRENN17 for girls’ uniforms. Parents must purchase uniforms by November 15th. Boys’ required uniforms consist of a shirt $43.50 and short $26.50. Girls’ uniform consists of shirt $25.50 and skirt $44.50. A request was made for a suggestion for someone to take pictures for the team this year. A parent, Brian Boone volunteered to photograph the team and will coordinate with Coach Bischoff and Mike Magsig. Brian is a team photographer for the OKC Thunder, and we are looking to schedule the photo shoot on a day without a Thunder game, probably during a 7th hour practice when all players can attend, after uniforms are in, and when the weather cooperates (likely January 2018). Mike Magsig will provide forecasting guidance for choosing the day a week or so ahead of time and will coordinate the date with Brian and Coach Bischoff once the uniforms are all in. Mr. Magsig reported the team generated $570 from football concessions thanks to many parents volunteering back in Sep 2017, and efforts will be made to obtain more opportunities for revenue from basketball concessions. It is hard to get in because it is effective, and any opportunities will be sent out on the email list. Parents were also encouraged to have their athlete take a donation letter to any business for donations. The donation letter will be finalized at the next NAA meeting (either mid Nov or early Dec) and will be sent to the team via the email list, likely in December. Any money generated will offset player costs for the upcoming season. Mr. Magsig also discussed we are going to have 3-4 team dinners again this year, once a month starting in January. There will be one dinner hosted at a restaurant paid by the Booster Club. The other 2-3 dinners will need parents to volunteer to host. Volunteer parents will provide a place (either their home, park, etc.) and a main course (e.g. six large pizzas or some home-made pasta, or whatever you are comfortable with) for the players and Coach’s family (when they

attend). Players will bring sides and usually come and go in an hour or so (not everyone shows up, and they usually don’t eat a lot). Coach is going to bring his family to some of the dinners, and parents are welcome to stop in and chat. Email [email protected] to volunteer. The Treasurer, Marzena Jabrzemski went over the proposed budget for the year. The program was able to carryover money from last year which will reduce the expense for all players. This year all players will be responsible for $60 in addition to the cost of the uniforms. Major items in this year’s budget include: the banquet, one team dinner, a team building event at Heyday, team hats, a State t-shirt, photographer support for team photos, and team posters. Greg Diehl made a motion to approve the budget and Sylke Merchan seconded the motion. As a result, the proposed budget was approved. The $60 will be due in January to ensure adequate time for donations from the fundraising letters, and further details will be provided at later meetings and the email list. Finally, Co-Treasurer, Tyra Woodward, discussed Norman North Tennis clothing available for families to purchase through the team’s Team Wear store. Order forms were passed out to those in attendance, and the forms are attached to this document (see below). The store allows anyone to purchase Norman North Tennis t-shirts and sweatshirts. All orders must be placed by November 17th. Personal checks can be used to purchase the clothing and should be made out to “Norman North Tennis Booster Club”. Val, Natalia, and Evan will collect checks, or you can mail them to Marzena Jabrzemski, 4505 Alexander Court, Norman, OK, 73072. The meeting closed with Coach Bischoff encouraging all players to participate in USTA Tournaments as a way to improve. He also discussed his Interest in players gaining and/or improving their Universal Tennis Rating (UTR). Meeting adjourned.
