Dear Friends,

We are in the process of preparing for the next wave of our aging population at Three Pillars Senior Living Communities. According to recently released data from the United States Census Bureau, the year 2030 will mark a significant change in demographics.

• All baby boomers will be older than 65. • 1 in 5 residents will be of retirement age. • 10,000 citizens per day will be 82. • Older individuals are projected to

outnumber children.

As we review these statistics, we know our campus will require changes, especially in how we deliver care. We are currently reviewing important trends in aging along with other factors, such as models of higher acuity assisted, skilled, and dementia care. Working with our team of experts, which includes residents and family members, we are examining our next steps. How can we better serve our community? How can we be a part of the solution for pressing issues like the projected rise in individuals affected by dementia? How can we become a resource to those needing guidance at one of the most vulnerable times of their lives?

We are excited about the opportunities and will remain steadfast in sustaining our mission – one that was established 115 years ago and that protects those who have lived beyond their financial means.

We consider you a valued partner, and as we move forward with our strategic planning, we’ll keep you informed of our progress. On behalf of all those we serve, thank you again for your support.

Sincerely,

Mark Strautman President/CEO

In her free time, Terri loves sailing, downhill skiing, and spending time with family and friends. Terri, along with her husband, Mark, and daughters, Megan, 13 and Haley, 11, live in Pewaukee.

iPod Drive (Continued from page 1)

Over the course of the year, Riley and Ella’s drive was a success, bringing in 28 new or gently used iPods with headphones,

and even raising additional funds and donations of accessories like disposable headphone covers, a storage cart, charging stations, and $100 of gift cards for music downloads.

Now in seventh grade, the 12 and 13-year old ladies have a generous spirit beyond their years. Their vision of giving the gift of music became a reality in November of 2019. Residents, staff, students, and parents were all-smiles during a special visit to Three Pillars to donate the music equipment, and it’s only the beginning of an exceptional partnership.

Three Pillars’ campus Recreation & Music Therapists, Lifestyles Teams, Memory Care Nurse Manager, and Chief Development Officer have worked closely with Riley and Ella to initiate the iPod music programs, and the students will continue to volunteer through ongoing visits to help residents learn how to use the equipment and fill their ears with music they love.

According to the students, their favorite part of the process to date was, “… getting to come to Three Pillars and work with the staff and residents.” They enjoyed learning about Three Pillars as an organization and how their contribution will make a real difference in the lives of the older adults who live there.

The 3rd annual Love Lights tree lighting event was held on Thursday, December 5 at the Three Pillars Wellness Connection. The lighting ceremony gave participants the chance to view the tribute recognition boards, along with enjoying good conversation, homemade Christmas cookies, and refreshments. The highlight of the event was a couple of very special visitors from the North Pole – Mr. and Mrs. Claus arrived on a trishaw, which was piloted by Mark Strautman, President/CEO of Three Pillars Senior Living Communities.

Thanks to the generosity of this year’s Love Lights donors, nearly $7,000 was raised.

A portion of the proceeds will be directed towards the establishment of a new initiative that we’re pleased to announce. The Three Pillars Wish Club is a joint effort between volunteers and staff that invites all residents to submit a “wish” for consideration of granting. Wish forms will be available online and in main entrance areas during select times of the year for residents, family members, or staff to submit to the committee. All wishes will be considered and selected for fulfilling by a committee of outside volunteers. No wish is too small or too unique for this new initiative that aims to maximize joy and minimize regrets. Examples of a wish may be a special food from a

favorite restaurant, a car ride back to their hometown, or to cover transportation costs for a family member who may not be able to visit due to financial constraints. Last year’s Love Lights funds were used for the purchase of a trishaw, which has been used in our new cycling program that was rolled out this past summer. Thanks to these accessible trishaw bikes and a strong team of volunteers, our residents are able to enjoy the wind in their hair on beautiful local bike paths once again. Those attending our December 5 tree lighting ceremony were able to see the new bike up close.

Enclosed is the 2019 Love Lights tribute listing that can be shared with family and friends.

If you would like to learn more about giving to Three Pillars Senior Living Communities, please contact the Development office at 262.965.7294.
