TERRI ATDTerri ATD isatrackdrivecross-countryvehiclewithAckermannsteeringsystemandaloadingcapacityof3tons. Terri ATD isaspecialpurposemachinewithanextensiveandmany-sidedrangeofapplication.

Terri ATDisequippedwithafour-cylinder,fluidcooledLombardiniLDWdieselunitengine.

Terri ATDisequippedwithahydrostatic/mechanicalsteeringassemblywithsealedhydrauliccircuit.Aneffect limitedvariablehydraulicpumpthatisdirectlycoupledtoaninternalcombustionengineoperatesthesystem.Inthetractorunitahigh-speedhydraulicmotorisrunninga2-speedgearboxofpreselectiontypewithamechanicaldifferen-tialblocking.Thegearboxrunsthetracksviatwogearwheels.

Terri ATD iseasytodrivewithsmoothrunningcharacteristicsandgreattractiveforceinallsituations.Theclosed hydraulicsystemisequallyeffectiveasabrakeasitprovidesgreattractiveforce.

Thedriver’scabisspaciousandthecontrolcomponentsusedforworkarewithinconvenientreach.ThenumbersoffunctionsnecessarytooperateTerri ATD areminimised.Thereforeboththedriving-andworkingpositionis comfortableforthedriver.Theflexiblegrabloaderiseitheroperatedviaaconventionalmultipleleversystemorviaa doubleleversystem,inthatcaseequippedwithbuilt-indrivingfunctions.Thedriver’sseatisobtainablewith mechanicspringsorairsprings.

Atthefrontofthemachinethereisabuilt-inwinch.Thewinchcanbeusedtopulloffthemachineortodrawout timberfrominaccessibleterrain.

LOADING UNIT EQUIPPED WITH HYDRAULIC DRIVEThewagonisequippedwithtwolowspeedhydraulicmotorsthatoperatethetracksviaagearpinion.Thewagonisequippedwithanautomatichydraulicdifferentialbrake.Anelectricswitchinthecabinswitchesthewagonoperation onandoff.Whenthewagonoperationisdisconnectedthehydraulicmotorsarebalancedatthesametimesothat thewagoncanrunfree.Maximumtransportspeedisachievedbydisconnectingthewagonoperationandputtingin thehigh-speedgear.Thewagonisequippedwithabuilt-inparkingbrakethatisoperatedviaanelectricswitchinthecabin.Whenthe motorisstoppedthewagonisbrakedautomatically.

Before drivingCheckwhetherthefunctionsofthedrivingleversandbrakecontrolisallright.

DrivingNeverdrivethemachinemerelywithwagonoperation.Thiscancausethemachinetotipundercertaincircumstances.Thelowgearofthetractorunitmustalwaysbeengagedwhenwagonoperationisengaged.Whendrivingonuphillanddownhillslopesthewagonoperationmustalwaysbeengaged.

PRIOR TO leaving the machineBeforeyouleavethemachine:putdowntheloggrips,stopthemotorandswitchoffthemainswitch.

Fluid levelsWhencontrollingthefluidlevelorfillingthefueltankorthefluidlevelofthebatteryneveruseopenflames.

TerrainIfpossible,inspecttheterrainwhereyouaretodrive,especi-allyduringthewintertimewhenthesnowiscoveringbumps.Payattentiontotheangleofinclinationandtheconsequen-cesthiswillhaveonthestabilityofthetractor.

ChildrenNeverallowchildreninthecabinorinthevicinityofthemachinewhenthemotorisrunning.

Emergency exitsGetfamiliarwiththeemergencyexitsofthecabin.1.Sidedoor2.Roofhatch3.WindscreenThesecuritypinsoftheroofhatchmustbewithdrawnwhendrivingonanice-coveredlake.

WORKINGINTHEVICINITYOFAERIALLINESWhen working in the vicinity of aerial lines no part of the mach-ine or the load is permitted to come nearer the lines than stated below:Low tension 2 metersHigh tension < 40 kV 4 metersHigh tension > 40 kV 6 meters

Ifitisnotpossibletokeeptheabovesecuritydistance,thepowerstationmustbecontactedwiththerequesttocutoffelectricitywhileoneisworkingthere.Onemustundernocircumstancesrelyongoodluckwhenworkinginthevicinityofaeriallines.Ifitisnotpossibletohavethepowercutoffonemusttrytomovethetimberbyothermeansbeforeusingthecraneforloading.

1. Parking brakeThisleveraffectsamechanicalbrake.Whentheleverismo-vedbackwardsthebrakeisengaged.Viathebuttonontopoftheleverthelockisunbolted.

2. Front air vents screenTheairventsregulatethedirectionoftheincomingair.Fordefrosterpurposestheairisdirectedtowardsthewindscreen.

3. Front air vents floorTheairventsregulatethedirectionoftheincomingair.

4. Winch lockThewinchlockpreventsthecablefromrunningoutcom-pletely.Thewinchlockiscontrolledviaaleverontheleftsideontheinstrumentboard.Thewinchlockisreleasedwhentheleverisinitsfrontposition.Releasethewinchlockandpullthecableout.Attention! Use protective gloves.

Attention! Never push the driving lever backwards when the winch is in use. This can cause damage to the gearbox.

5. Double action hydraulic cylinderViathedoubleactionhydrauliccylinder,installedbetweenthetractorunitandthewagon,thepositionforthefrontofthetractorunitcanbeadjustedtodifferentconditions.

Position 1: Operatingleverpushedup=thetractorunit“floats”free,i.e.thetractorunitcannobstructedlyfollowtheterrain.Thisisthenormaldrivingposition.

Attention! Spring-loaded locking of the lever in this posi-tion.Position 2: Operatingleverincentre,withspring-loadin centreposi-tion=“lockedposition”.Thepositionofthetractorunitinrationtothewagonislocked.Thispositionisonlyrecommendedwhendrivinginlightsnowwithouttrackandwhencrossingaditchorotherobstacle.Position 3: Bypushingtheoperatingleverforwardthefrontofthetractorunitgoesdown.Theoperatinglevergoesowingtothespring-loadbackto“lockedposition”(2)whenreleasingthelever.

CAUTION! Do not swivel sharply with the machine when the front is down.

Position 4: Bypushingtheoperatingleverdownwardsthefrontofthetractorunitgoesup.Theoperationlevergoesowingtothespring-loadbackto“lockedposition”(2)whentheleverisreleased.

6. Differential lock (not applicable for Sweden)Thegearboxofthetractorunitisequippedwithamechani-caldifferentiallock,controlledviaaleverontheinstrumentboard.Thedifferentiallockisdisengagedwhentheleverisinitsbottomposition.

7. Panel for diesel heater (extra equipment)Onthispanelthedieselheateriscontrolled.Seemanualfordieselheater.

10. WinchThewinchiscontrolledviaaleverontherightsideontheinstrumentboard.Whenoneputstheleverintofrontposi-tion,gear(11)intoneutralposition,wagonoperationdisen-gaged,drivinglever(13)forwardandonepressesthethrottlepedaldown,thewinchcableishoistedinontothewinchcabledrum.CAUTION!Prior to operating the winch make sure that the cable is not damaged. If a cable breaks during operation itcan cause great damage.

Attention! Never move the driving lever backwards when the winch is in use. This causes that the winch cable is rolled up in the wrong direction on the winch cable drum.

11. Gear leverWiththegearlevertwogearscanbechosen.Iftheleverismovedforwardthehigh-speedgearisengagedandwhentheleverisintherearpositionthelowspeedgearisengaged.Whentheleverisincentrepositionneutralpositionisenga-ged.

CAUTION!The machine must never be driven with wagon opera-tion only. This can cause the machine to tip under certain circumstances. The low gear of the tractor unit must always be engaged when wagon operation is engaged. When driving on uphill and downhill slopes the wagon operation must always be engaged.

12. Throttle pedal forwardThethrottlepedalcontrolstheenginespeedduringdriving.

13. Driving leverThedrivinglevercontrolssteering.Whentheleverismovedtotherightthemachineturnstotheright.Whentheleverismovedtotheleftthemachineturnstotheleft.Steeringdoesnotautomaticallyreturnto“forward”buthastobesteeredbackwiththedrivinglever.Viathelockthedrivinglevercanbelockedintoneutralposi-tion.13b Change-direction switchTheswitchisplacedfrontofthedrivingleverandhasthreepositions.Whentheswitchisdownwardsthemachinemovesforward.Whentheswitchisupwardsthemachinemovesbackwards.Themiddlepositionsisneutralposition.13c Flow-devide-functionTheengagebleflow-deviderisinstalledbetweenthetractorunitandwagonsdriveengines.Whenwagonoperationisen-gagedandtheswitch13cispresseddown,thehydraulicoilflowisdevidedbetweenthehydraulicenginesinthetractorunitandthewagon.Thisfunctionincreasewagonspullingpowerevenifthewagonisspinning.Caution ! wagon ope-ration must always be engaged when using flow-devide-function.

20.1 Control for direction indicatorsIfthebuttonispresseddownwardstheleftdirectionindica-torwillflash.Ifthebuttonispressedupwardstherightdirec-tionindicatorwillflash.Thecontrollampflasheswhenthedirectionindicatorisengaged.Attention! If a lamp has fallen out the control lamp is flas-hing faster.

20.2 Light change over switch Thelightchangeoverswitchswitchesthelightfromheadlightstodippedlights.Thecontrollampisalightwhentheheadlightsisengaged.

20.3 Switch for dipped lightsThecontrollampisalightwhenthedippedlightsareenga-ged.

20.11 Wagon operationThispushbuttonengagesanddisengagesthewagonopera-tion.Thecontrollampisalightwhenwagonoperationisengaged.Attention! Driving with wagon operation engaged only with low speed gear.

20.12 Trailer brakeThetrailerbrakeisappliedandreleasedwiththeswitch.Theindicatorisalightwhenthetrailerbrakeisapplied.Whentheoilpressuredropsbelow10bar,appliesthetrailerbrakeautomatically.N.B. The trailer brake is a parking brake. Always release the trailer brkae when driving the machine; the brake may oth-erwise be damaged.

20.13 Wiper and washer for rear windowTheswitchhastwopositions.Thefirstpositionsstartsthewiperandthesecond,theresilientpositionstartsthewasher.

Attention! The rear window has a protective pane being very resistant against knocks and impacts. However it is not as scratch resistant as normal glass. Therefore never engage the wiper on a dry pane. Neither should you clean the pane with a dry cloth.

21 Instrument board

21.1 Revolution indicatorTherevolutionindicatorshowstherotationspeedoftheen-gine.

21.2 Working hours indicatorThisindicatorshowstherunninghoursofthemachine.Theindicatorisengagedwhentheengineisrunning.

21.3 Temperature control for hydraulic oilShowsthetemperatureofthehydraulicoil

21.4 Engine temperature indicatorTheenginetemperatureindicatorshowsthetemperatureofthecoolantoftheengine.Whenrunningnormally,withtheenginewarm,thetemperatureshownshouldbe90–95de-grees.

21.5 Fuel meterRegistersthefuellevelinthetank.

21.6 Control lamp oil pressure engineThecontrollampshouldbeoutwhentheengineisrunning.However,iftheoilpressureoftheenginedropsbelow0.5barthecontrollampwilllightup.Ifthisshouldhappen,stoptheengineimmediatelyanddeterminethesourceofthetrou-bleandtakecareofitbeforeyoustarttheengineagain.

21.7 Glow indicatorTheindicatorbecomesextinctwhentheglowingprocessiscompleted.

21.8 Charging control lampNormallythelampshouldbeoutwhentheengineisrunning.Ifthelamplightswhilerunningthisindicatesthatthereisafaultintheelectricalsystemandthesourceofthetroublemustbedeterminedandtakencareof.

21.9 Warning lamp for low hydraulic oil levelThewarninglampwilllightupwhenthehydraulicoilleveldropstothelowestlimit.

CAUTION!Inspect regularly that the manometer needle is within the green field.

25. Main switchTheentireelectricsupplycanbeturnedoffwiththemainswitch.

Attention! Never turn off the main switch while the engine is running. CAUTION!The main switch must be turned off when carrying out service- and maintenance measures on the machine!

Attention! Be particular with the fuel. See to it that there is no water in the fuel and that no snow gets into the tank. Always strain the fuel to avoid impurities getting into the fuel sys-tem. Water as well as impurities can damage the fuel feed pump.

Filling opening COOLING SYSTEM

Thecoolingsystemconsistsoftheradiatoraswellastheradiatorfanandairoutletontherightsideofthemachine,thecirculationpumpandtemperatureregulatorinthemotorandcablesandchannels.Coolantholdingcapacityapprox.4litres.Whendeliveredfromthefactoryanti-freezingagentisadd-ed,makingitfreeze-proofdownto–35degreesC.Theabilityoftheanti-freezingagenttopreventrustdecreas-esaftersometimeofuse.Therefore,changethecoolantwithaddedanti-freezingagentonceayearatthebeginningofthecoldseason.

Makesurethatthecoolingsystemisgivenathoroughrinsebeforefillingupnewcoolantandanti-freezingagent.

CAUTION!The system works with overpressure. Therefore be careful when opening the radiator filler cap when the engine is warm. Let the overpressure “buzz off” before opening the cap. Otherwise your hands can get burn injuries.

The tension of the fan beltMakesurethatthefanbeltissufficientlytensioned.Forin-structionsseechapter“Electricalsystem”.

DrainageAdraincockforthesystemisinstalledontherearleft-handsideoftheradiator.

BatteryThebatteryisplacedontherightinfrontoftheengine.Checkeveryweekthatthelevelofthebatteryliquidis10mmabovetheplates.Ifthelevelistoolowfillwithdistilledwater.Checkthatthecableclipsandconnectionpolesarecleaned,tightenedandgreased.Thechargingconditionofthebatteryistestedwiththeacidtester.Especiallyduringwintertimeitisveryimportantthatthebatterydoesnotgetdischargedasinthatcasetheelectrolytewillfreezeandthebatterybecomedestroyed.

CAUTION!Never use an open flame when filling liquid into the battery.

Disconnecting the batteryThegeneratorunitisextremelysensitivetofaultyconnec-tion.Thereforethefollowingmustbeobserved:

Donobreakthecircuitbetweenthegeneratorandbatterywhentheengineisrunning.Thiscandamagethegenerator.Loosenandinsulatethetwobatterycablespriortostartinganyworkonthegeneratorequipment.

Connecting the batteryOnnoaccountmustthebatteryterminalsbeconfused.Eachterminalisstampedwitha+anda–markrespectively.In-correctconnectionwillruinthegeneratorrectifier.Whenconnectingthebattery,alwaysconnecttheearthtermi-nallast.
