ANNUAL GIVING SOCIETY Founders' THE
Mary Frances Clarke
Membership Information
In 1843, Irish woman Mary Frances Clarke journeyed into pioneer
territory and formed a congregation of religious women, the
Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. With a belief in
changing hearts and minds, Clarke University was born.
MEDALLION
First medallion in collection
The legacy of Mary Frances Clarke and the founding Sisters is alive at Clarke through the vibrancy of our campus community
and longstanding traditions.
The Founders’ Society is an extension of Clarke’s BVM heritage and membership is reserved for alumni, parents, and friends
contributing $1,000 or more to Clarke annually. Your annual leadership gift allows students to have a well-rounded experience
both inside and outside of the classroom by supporting premier academic programs and enrichment activities.
For each year of membership, you will receive a custom medallion commemorating people, places, and events from Clarke’s
historic past and present. In addition, Founders’ Society members receive exclusive updates and invitations.
For more information please visit clarke.edu/founderssociety.
The Founders’ Society medallion program was underwritten thanks to the generosity of the Clarke University Board of Trustees.
Class TreeMEDALLION
One of Clarke’s most meaningful traditions, the class tree-
planting and subsequent tree-naming ceremony are
practices that have taken place on Clarke’s campus for more
than a century.
Second medallion in collection
The Twin SpiresThis medallion depicts the original Sacred Heart Chapel’s most
prominent features, the twin spires. These monumental pieces
of Clarke’s history were constructed at the beginning of the 20th
century.

As a leader and pioneer in her field, Sister Mary Kenneth Keller, BVM,
made her mark on Clarke by establishing one of the country’s earliest,
small-college computer science departments in 1965. Fifth medallion in collection
R.C. and Celeste Wahlert AtriumMEDALLION
Sixth medallion in collection
After the Clarke fire of 1984, the R.C. and Celeste Wahlert Atrium
was built in the center of campus and restored connectivity for
the Clarke community.
Christmas TraditionsMEDALLION
Christmas at Clarke is a magical time. We are proud to honor
our many longtime holiday traditions, which allow us to
gather together, give thanks, and celebrate the season.
Seventh medallion in collection
In recognition of Clarke’s 175th anniversary, we honor Mother Mary Frances Clarke’s directive to keep our school progressive with the times in which we live. As Clarke continues to evolve, we remain committed to challenging and supporting our students, who are the heart of our institution, in their intellectual, spiritual, and personal growth.
