Please remember that there are dumpsters
located behind the clubhouse specifically for
recycling: cardboard, paper, plastic (#1 & #2),
aluminum cans. Please do not fill up the
garbage dumpsters with these items. Your use of
the recycle bins benefits the association. Also
remember that you can also recycle your used
batteries in the basket provided in the clubhouse.
The next recycle date is April 8th. Electronics,
paint cans, aerosol cans, batteries, etc., can be
dropped off to Carolyn Taylor (#127) by the

February Ladies’ Luncheon
&
Meeting
Page Wilson and Patty Maxon hosted the Valentine’s
Day luncheon with the assistance of Barb Bemis,
Helen Guenette, Lana Clark, Marilyn Peterson, Rosie
Zentner, Aleta Nybakke, Judy Gemeinhardt, Gerry
Anshutz, Joanne Rebilas, Doreen Brown, and
Margret Atwood. Attendees enjoyed a beef
stroganoff casserole accompanied by salads, rolls
and dessert. Steve Knobbe entertained everyone by
playing his guitar and singing some good ol’ country
songs.
At the meeting, it was discussed whether or not to
have a spring craft/bake sale. It was tabled until
next fall. A discussion was held about replacing the
signs used for the craft fair/bake sale and patio
sales. It was decided not to purchase a large sign
but to get replaceable signs for the teepee stand.
A prospective slate of offices was presented by
Carole Burrows.
Lynn Carrell, Ladies’ Club President
FROM THE MANAGER
I want to keep this very simple and address theseimportant issues:
The management requires only two things from allresidents of Fountain East. First, your rent must be paidon time each and every month. Secondly, everyresident is required to follow the Rules and Regulationsas set forth in the contact that you signed, and agreedto, with your lease agreement. If you need a reminderabout those Rules and Regulations, you may obtain acopy from the office. For those of you who signed thesheet to receive a copy and have not picked that copyup, please do so.
Understand that if these two requirements are met, youwill enjoy a long and happy residency here at FountainEast; however, if you cannot, or refuse to, abide bythese regulations, you will not.
I am sorry to be so blunt, but I think it is necessary sothat it is not misunderstood. The management isworking very hard to make this community the mostpleasant place to live for all of its residents.
I would like to thank all the residents for being patientand understanding about the issues with the pool. Also, the gate code will change as soon as we receive thekeyless electronic pedestrian gate lock. It has beenback-ordered. Once everything is in place, residentswill be notified a week in advance of the closing/codechange date.
I often overlook or neglect to thank all of the residentswho work to keep their home and lot neat and clean. Itimproves the overall appearance of the park and isappreciated greatly. So THANK YOU!

January 14 saw the clubhouse full of toe-tapping,
two-stepping, twirling and twisting dancers as the
Needham Twins returned. It was a great evening
with a lot of wonderful music.
The first ever Fountain East Chili Cook-Off was held
on January 26 with 8 residents vying for the title of
Best Chili Maker. Over 60 people sampled the
various kinds of chili from white chili to Texas hot,
and traditional recipes with a little something extra.
The grand prize winner was Steve Knobbe (could it
have been that touch of red wine that put his chili
over the top?) with Kyle Carrell taking 1st place and
Gerry Anshutz, Joan Reed and Mercy Best tying for
2nd/3rd places.
Thank you to Lynn Carrell for putting this all
together and her helpers: Carolyn Taylor, Marilyn
Peterson, Kyle Carrell, Gerry and Jerry Anshutz.

As we gear down from a busy, fun-filled season,it is important to remember that none of thiswould happen without the hard work anddedication of many residents. Carole Burrowspresented us with outstanding choices inentertainment both in park and out. Lois andPaul Sebesta booked the music that kept us onthe dance floor. Joanne Rebilas and AliceSpearman organized many of our off-seasonmeals plus chairing the FE Café for the craft andbake-sale day; Audrey Brewster who made thearrangements for our casino trips; Jan and KennyWilhite for organizing a New Year’s Evecelebration and a Super Bowl Party; those whostepped up to chair an event: Carolyn Taylor,Brenda Brooks, Lynn Carrell, Linda Wight, AletaNybakke, our Canadian friends for doing awonderful Thanksgiving dinner, John Stewart andhis crew for providing the Christmas Dinner.
We cannot forget the men and women who serveon the board of our Residents’ Association. Their job is at times frustrating, but they try theirbest to give us the leadership we need to keepus moving in the right direction. The list goes on and on, and it would beimpossible to name everyone, but please knowthat your efforts are truly appreciated.
It is what you do for our park that makesFountain East such a great place to live!
It was a full house on
February 9 as Maggie
M ae and Steve
entertained over 90
residents and guests.
The two-hour show
was full of fun and
music spurring many
positive comments
about the presentation. During intermission,
everyone enjoyed ice cream treats.
Although it was a smaller group who came to the
dance on February 11, everyone agreed that they
enjoyed the music and had a wonderful time.
Jerry and Judy’s Back to the 50's show provided
exceptional music.

Book Club1:00pm-Library
Hi everyone....This is the last month this season for
our book club. We have had an interesting season
reading some very good books. It seems the time
goes by so fast. Our final choice for March is by a
author well known to most readers. Jodi Picoult is a
person who electrifies the reader of her stories.
She takes on issues of the day as well as many moral
questions and presents stories that rivet the reader
to continue the story till the very end.
This month we will be discussing one of her latest
books: "SMALL GREAT THINGS.” This is a story
you won't want to miss. The publisher writes: “With
incredible empathy, intelligence, and candor Jodi
Picoult tackles race, privilege, prejudice, justice and
compassion-and doesn't offer easy answers.
“SMALL GREAT THINGS” is a remarkable
achievement from a writer at the top of her game.”
Again we invite anyone interested in reviewing good
reads to join us the third Wednesday of the month
at 1:00pm in the library. You will find it's worth your
while. We will keep you posted on upcoming events
for the book club. Everyone have safe travels home,
and we will connect again in the fall.

There is a quiet room in the clubhouse that houses
the Fountain East Library. It is a wonderful place.
You will find all sorts of reading materials, jigsaw
puzzles, movies...all for your enjoyment....at no cost.
Just borrow and return. Or you may add to it
yourself.
Over the years the librarian has taken care to keep
the reading materials in order, and we need to
recognize and thank Josephine Griffen for all her
hard work. Recently the shelves have been cleaned.
Old books will find a new home at a local thrift store
making room for new books.
If you are not familiar with our library, take a few
minutes and visit, look over the selections there, and
enjoy.
