However, Cork will take a number of positives from the game, and now move on to concentrate on their Championship opener on June 24 th . Four-in-a-Row for Cork Footballers! Congratulations to the Cork Senior Football panel, management, backroom staff and all involved in their historic Allianz Football League Final victory over Mayo on April 29 th . The win means that they join an exclusive group of only three counties (Mayo, Kerry and now Cork) to have won three Division 1 titles in a row, and it’s a fourth in total for this team, who also won the Division 2 title in 2009. Rebel Óg Award for Rochestown College Congratulations to St. Francis’ College, Rochestown, winners of the

Rebel Óg Award for April, sponsored by the Rochestown Park Hotel, Red

FM, The Irish Examiner and Cummins’ Sports. Rochestown College have

won two consecutive Corn na gColáistí (Munster U16½B) titles and one

senior B win in the past two years. In addition, they competed in the

Corn Uí Mhuirí this season again after a long absence, making it out of

their group and into the quarter-finals. We wish them every success as

they continue their resurgence.

Jackie O’Shea Memorial Unveiled A great crowd gathered at Donoughmore G.A.A. Grounds, Páirc Eoin

Mhic Chárthaigh, Leaca Bán, on Sunday April 22nd last for the unveiling

of a memorial to the late Jackie O’Shea, Life President of the Club, at a

location to be known henceforth as Jackie’s Corner, in recognition of

Jackie’s service to the GAA.

Congratulations to Cork Camogie Congratulations to the Cork Senior Camogie team on their recent win in

the Irish Daily Star Division 1 League Final, defeating Wexford on a

scoreline of 1-8 to 0-9. It was a 14th title for the Rebels, and their first

since beating the same opposition by a point in the 2007 final.

Féile Winners Congratulations to Sarsfields, who will represent Cork at the All-Ireland

Féile na nGael, and to Ballygiblin, who will take part in the B section.

Juvenile Inter-Divisional Tournaments Well done to Carbery, winners of the Munster U16B Inter-Divisional,

beating South Tipp by of 2-12 to 0-7, and to Imokilly, who retained the

Report At the County Board

meeting of May 8th, the

Cathaoirleach

congratulated the Cork

Senior Footballers on

winning the Allianz

League for the fourth

year in succession,

while he also

complimented the

hurlers on reaching the

League Final, where

they lost out to

Kilkenny. Paul McCarthy

(Kinsale) was appointed

Junior Football

manager, with Danny

Culloty (Newmarket)

joining the selectors.

The report of the latest

Ard-Comhairle meeting

was discussed and will

be circulated to all

clubs. Draws were

made for Round 4 of

the Colleges/Divisions

Championships (see

www.gaacork.ie for

details), and the

Cathaoirleach

announced that he

hoped to meet

Divisional

representatives in the

near future to discuss

the 2013 Championship

format. The next

meeting is on May

22nd.

Playing Rule

Changes A number of playing

rule changes come into

effect on May 14th (one

month from Congress),

most notably the new

square rule in football.

since 2011, with hits for

the month of April

coming in at

on the April 2011 figure

Social Media Guidelines,

as well as a set-up guide

for Facebook, Twitter

etc. Clubs are advised to

take careful note of

these guidelines to

ensure that they are in

compliance with them,

as a register of all official

club websites, Facebook

and Twitter pages etc is

currently being

compiled. The guidelines

can be downloaded from

the Social Media

section of the Cork GAA

website, or are available

from the County PRO.

Valley Rovers. So far in our tour of club websites, we’ve had Kilshannig

(Avondhu), Glengarriff (Beara), St. James’ (Carbery) and Valley Rovers
