The Problem?

The product is targeted to (and not exclusive to)under age college students. Not only are under

age kids drinking now, but they are drinkingwithout knowing the facts about the four loko

drink specifically.

-Mixing caffeine with youralcohol makes you feel

-The caffeine masks theeffects of alcohol,

creating a feeling ofbeing "wide-awakedrunk.melnick2

- The caffeine acts as astimulant to prevent the

drinker from fullyfeeling the effect ofalcohol. Mackey 1

Possible Solutions...

- States can ban the alcoholic beverage all togetherwith the Liquor Control Board's help.

OR

- Universities can ban the drink from the campuses andit's students.

Will those solutions work?

-Will banning the drink Nation-wide keep collegestudents from abusing the product?

Most likely it will, the chances of the everyday collegestudent being able to get there hands on the beveragewould decrease, but it wouldn't disappear. Forinstance look at marijuana, it's illegal but college

students are exposed to it weekly.

Will those solutions work?

- If Universities ban the drink, will that preventstudents from getting it?

Probably not, it actually has the potential to drivestudents to try and get the rare drink because it'smeant to have crazy side affects.

What will work?

-My solution proposes that we try and educate ourstudents as well as other college students on the

dangers of the product itself. My theory is, ifstudents knew the affects it has in it's fullest extent,they would be less likely to abuse the productignorantly.

"But we also believe curbing alcohol abuse or underagedrinking will not be accomplished by singling out a lone

product or beverage category. We think the true answerlies with increased education and awareness by all and

with respect for the law."

Proving the Solution

Q: Is it possible to baneverything that has

potential to put us indanger.

A: Probably not, we wouldhave to ban everything

from doughnuts tobicycles.

- Why do people stayaway from junk food?

-Their educated on thenegative affects it has onthe body

-This doesn't mean all

people will avoid it, itjust means the numbersdecrease througheducation of each

individual.

What's the point?

- Four Loko beverage does live up to it's nameblackout in a can when used incorrectly or

abusively.-Our job as well as college campus's job, is to educate

our students with the information and statistics ofFour Loko.

-Through education, we can prevent the number ofmedical emergencies or difficulties in collegestudents.
