Discipleship: Following The Way Of The Lord Jesus

With the power of a mighty wind and tongues as of fire, the Holy Spirit is poured out on the disciples who begin to speak in new languages about the mighty acts that God has wrought. Peter, who once was afraid to acknowledge even knowing Jesus, spoke so convincingly about Jesus, that more than 3,000 people responded to follow Jesus Christ completely. Those who were previously curious, came to know the joy of lives surrendered fully to God.

By baptism, we too have been given the Spirit. The God who loved us enough to become one of us, to die for us and to rise for us, has given us his very Spirit. This Spirit he has sent us, empowers us to become the kind of gentle, caring and compassionate persons that can make a real difference in a world that desperately needs our witness of love and forgiveness.

Remember, outside the walls of this Church there are hundreds, thousands, millions of people longing for an experience of God, longing for the Spirit of Jesus. They aren’t looking for people who know about God. They are seeking people who know God, spiritual people fully alive who will continue the life-changing work of Jesus. They are seeking you!

Surrender your life fully to Christ and ask him to show you the power of his Holy Spirit. He will respond to your life-changing commitment by offering you all the spiritual resources you need. Be on fire for the Lord and ignite other souls with the flame of His love.

Pentecost is called the Birthday of the Church. Happy Birthday!

Fr Jim

MAY PRAYER INTENTIONS

from our Holy Father, Pope Francis -

Evangelization: The Mission of the Laity That the lay faithful my fulfil their specific mission, by responding

with creativity to the challenges that face the world today.

from Bishop Edward C. Malesic - For everyone who’s been harmed by violence in America,

whether in its schools, streets, or homes. May we work together to find reasonable and effective ways to protect our loved ones and our citizens from those who want to kill and

maim innocent human life.

Sacristans Needed!

Any public event requires much behind-the-scenes activity. The same is true with the Mass. There

must be care and preparation in setting all in order, and the one who does this is the Church Sacristan. The Sacristan arrives at Church early, sets out the books and altar vessels. A Sacristan needs to be responsible, reliable, and good at arranging things

for the orderly celebration of the Eucharist. Our long-time sacristan at St Cecilia is unable

to continue at this time. St Cecilia needs sacristans for weekdays & weekend Mass.

Please see Fr Jim today if you wish to find out more.

Volunteers & Helpers needed !

If any Youth or Adults are interested in helping at the Vacation Bible School, please call Mary Stoner

at 724-423-8244 to sign up.

If you are available the whole week, great! If you are available just one day that week, great!

Let us know soon because we are preparing for the program happening June 25th thru 29th.

Let’s create a fun, faith-filled way to help the children learn about God in their lives. Have a question, or have a donation (supplies or monetary) to offer, you can also call Bill Smith (724-423-3777).
