Product Details

Our Product Groups

The oil and water services Frames provides are diverse. We design and

supply the entire separation process, from high-pressure separation to

treatment of crude oil and produced water. Our separation packages are

specialized down to specific internals for gas/liquid and liquid/liquid

separation, oil treatment, sand handling and produced water treatment.

Multiphase Separation

Crude oil wells contain oil, gas, water, solids and various contaminants.

To optimize field production, our multiphase separators perform the

primary separation, such as degassing and separating water from crude.

Multiphase separators are usually the first and most comprehensive set

of equipment in the upstream oil production field, with downstream

equipment completely dependent on the proper functioning of the

multiphase separators during the life cycle of a field.

Using state-of-the-art technologies, Frames Multiphase Separators

guarantee adequate separation performance. Our clients benefit from

over 30 years of process knowledge supported by our in-house computa-

tional fluid dynamics (CFD) and research and development expertise.

Multiphase separators are used to separate gas from the liquid phase,

which can be a single continuous phase or a mixture of two immiscible

phases.

We also have extensive knowledge and experience

designing and manufacturing high-quality shell and

tube heat exchangers.

Electrostatic Coalescer


Separation Internals

The internal design forms the essence of the separa-

tor’s performance. Frames Separation Internals are

typically differentiated as inlet devices, gas/liquid

or liquid/liquid separation enhancers, or as other

internals. Inlet devices for multiphase separators

are, for example, Frames Advanced Vane-Type Inlet

Devices (FAVID) or Frames Advanced Cyclonic-Type

Inlet Devices (FACID). Coalescing plate packs for

liquid/liquid separation, and vane packs for demisting

gas, are examples of separation enhancers. Other or

additional internals include sand removal internals

(offline or online) and calming baffles.

Our internals are custom-built and specifically designed

according to the specifications and performance

requirements of each project. At Frames we select the

optimum proprietary internals to meet each perfor-

mance guarantee. As required, the process design can

be supported by expert in-house Computational Fluid

Dynamics (CFD) modeling.

Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers

Our shell and tube heat exchangers are applied in fluid streams that

require cooling, condensing, heating or evaporation. Our proven units

reduce energy consumption and operational costs by efficiently transfer-

ring heat from one medium to another.

The shell and tube heat exchangers are designed according TEMA and

API660 (ISO 16812) and are used in different industries for onshore and

offshore applications. The heat exchangers are fabricated by Frames

according to Dutch quality standards, and can be designed and supplied

with an ASME U-stamp certificate.

With years of experience, Frames specialists can design and fabricate

shell and tube heat exchangers that provide exceptional performance

across the full range of operating pressures and temperatures. The shell

and tube heat exchangers are used as efficient, energy-saving compo-

nents in a variety of onshore and offshore applications in the oil and gas,

refining, chemical and petrochemical industries.

Electrostatic Coalescers

Our proprietary electrostatic coalescers are two-phase

separators that utilize an electrostatic field to remove

water and salts from crude oil, allowing cost-effective

transport or downstream processing.

Removal of water and contaminants generally com-

prises two steps: dehydration and desalting. Frames

Coalescers are designed for both steps and are applied

in upstream as well as downstream applications. In oil

fields, the emphasis is generally on a combination of

dehydration and desalting, whereas in refineries the

focus is primarily on desalting.

At Frames we build on our vast experience in coalescer

engineering, enabling us to give our clients a competi-

tive advantage when it comes to cleaning crude oil. By

efficiently and effectively removing undesirable water

and salts, our clients are able to increase the quality

of their crude oil, cut their transport costs and protect

their downstream processes and equipment.

Produced Water Treatment

Produced water is a term used to describe reservoir water that is sepa-

rated during the oil and gas production process. Oil and gas reservoirs

normally contain amounts of water, oil, solids, condensates and gas. When

the oil and gas is processed, water is separated and pumped back into the

reservoir in order to maintain the right pressure in the well. Alternatively,

the water is discharged to the sea or sewerage. Both methods involve a

set of conditions and strict regulations aimed at preventing well contami-

nation and water pollution.

At Frames we design produced water treatment packages in accordance

with client specifications and project requirements. Following a thorough

analysis of the inlet conditions and outlet requirements, our team of

specialists selects the most suitable combination of technologies and

integrates them into a process package to achieve the required perfor-

mance.

Our produced water treatment packages enable high availability, a large

turndown range and practical operation, as well as easy access to valves,

instruments and pumps. During the design phase, our team pays special

attention to plot space, weight, maintenance and total life cycle costs.


Sustainability

With an increasing focus on environmental protection and sustainable

technologies, the demand for cleaner hydrocarbon recovery is growing

rapidly. We specialize in supplying technologies and products that

eliminate aromatics, clean produced water and reduce environmental

impact. Our compact and highly efficient designs also reduce the use

of natural resources, energy and maintenance.

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality

All of our assets, including personnel and equipment, comply with

requirements stipulated by our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

department. At Frames we are certified according to international

standards such as ISO 9001:2008 and OHSAS 18001:2007, as well as

numerous national regulations.

Research & Development

At Frames we continuously invest in research and development through

programs supported by in-house CFD, modeling, and experiments. To

expand our ability to explore and test new technologies, we collaborate

with internationally renowned universities and conduct in-situ field tests,

onshore as well as offshore. We have successfully developed and imple-

mented new technologies for gas/liquid/liquid separation, defoaming

and desulfurization.

Our in-house test facility enables us to examine the flow characteristics

and separation of oil and gas. The flexibility of our main flow loop allows

for parallel testing of piping systems, control valves, separator internals

and inline separation equipment. By means of high-speed imaging, we

visualize short timescale phenomena like separation of dispersions and

unsteady fluid behavior.

Having this experimental facility readily available at our premises allows

us to develop new technologies and keep our portfolio up to our clients’

requirements.

is maintenance management, which combines a

Engineering Studies

Economic analysis is crucial at the beginning of each new development.

The success of any project is directly related to a proper design philoso-

feasibility studies, starting with concept screening, followed by concept

selection. During concept screening, all potential technologies are

scanned. The optimized concept is selected taking into account CAPEX

concept selection, we work one-on-one with you to develop essential

deliverables, the process design, cost estimates and schedule to use
