A burst of light, a sudden illumination, a lasting impression—Franklinton High Schoolas seen by the students of 1959-60. Our impression is one of books, study, play, excite-ment, and togetherness that is natural in a small school. Our impression is a sharplyfocused one that leaves a distinguished imprint on the mi, id. This was our year and for

some it will be the last.

We can make our lives sublime,

And, departing, leave behind us

Foot-prints on the sands of time.

Season Highlights

September 4. The Franklinton Rams opene d the '59 season by entertaining a seasoned Rolesville eleven at

hom^e. Under a steady rain, the inexperienced Rams battled Rolesville to a 0-0 tie game.

September 11. Playing their first game on the road, the Rams battled a favored Helena eleven to a 12-13 loss.

It was a heartbreaker for the Rams as time ran out with a touchdown drive on Helena's 4 yard

line.

September 18. In their second game on the road, the Rams put on a superb show of football power handing a

favored Gaston crew an 18 to shellacking.

September 25. Playing away from home, the Rams ran into a Senior ball club; too much depth, and too muchexperience proved their undoing as Nashville handed the Rams a 15-0 loss.

October 2. The Rams learned a valuable lesson as over-confidence cost them a 7-6 loss to W.R. Davie

High School.

October 9 . The loss of Wilson House, and inexperienced personnel in key spots, hurt the Rams as they

battled Weldon to a 20-6 loss, returning home for the first time in 4 weeks.

October 16. The Rams played excellent ball for three quarters before absorbing a 33-6 loss to heavily favored

Norlina. Scoring the first time, they received the ball and battled to a 7-6 half-time score

.

Too much depth and experience again proved to be the deciding factor.

October 30. The loss of 5 performers due to scholastic difficulties demoralized the Rams as they never re-

covered from a 65 -yard opening play touchdown run by Louisburg's Bill Patterson. Score: Mills

20, Rams 6.

November 6. The Rams jumped on the Aurelian Springs eleven and handed them a 26-6 drubbing at home.Several new stars were unveiled as Freshman Bob White and Sophomores Michael Morton, Bill

Parham, and halfback Troy Hall played sound football.

November 11. Closing out the season, the Rams uncorked a devastating running game in the person of Troy

Hall, and an aerial circus as quarterback Larry Senter completed 10 of 11 passes for 121yards,

in one half of play. Final score: Rams 18, Warrenton 6,
