Fraternal Order of Eagles
Willamette Aerie & Auxiliary No . 2081
The Eagle Beak Salem, Oregon
Published monthly
April 2018
Worthy President Brothers,
The visit by the Fraternal Order of the Eagles State President came on February
28. For those of you who missed it we had a great visit. Carl Wilson (State Presi-
dent) delivered the message that the organization must change or we (the Eagles)
are facing extinction. We must change to get new faces and ideas. We are all
growing older and need new energetic people to fill our shoes. Again the message
even though it is hard we must change. Carl brought some excitement as he is
multi-talented and sang with the band Bad Motor Scooter. April is nomination
month for officers for the 2018-2019 year. Please make it known if any of you
wish to run for office. Holding an office is a great experience and a great honor.
Everyone should consider being an officer. Thank you for your participation in the
events of the lodge. You being involved is greatly appreciated. We all need to
continue to be positive – negativity is depressing! Please be positive and think
about what you can do for the lodge. Anything at all is appreciated. We are con-
tinually looking for events so if you know anybody that wants a wedding, recep-
tion, celebration of life, family reunion, class reunion, company party, Christmas
party or just a plain get together please consider the Eagles as a place to do that.
We can fix dinner, cater events or all the necessary things you may need! We are
still looking for donations for the roof. We still have a person willing to match
$1,000 donations. Please consider this so we can get a new roof and continue our
march to stay in our current home. The entertainment committee has planned a lot
of music on Fridays and Saturdays. This is a great cost and we must have partici-
pation for these to continue. I personally believe that the new bands are exciting
and from discussing with those present you the members think so also. Remember
to think positive. It will always make your day better!
Thank you Worthy President Jim Morgan
Madam President March has come and gone,
hopefully spring brings more
sun than rain. I checked out
the new bands, they are a great
addition to the lodge. The
Auxiliary also had the annual
Easter bunny visit to the senior
“children” at Windsor Health
& Rehab. April 1st is Easter
Sunday, if you plan on eating
out, come down to your Eagle
lodge for a wonderful brunch.
Sisters, please consider com-
ing to a meeting. I try to keep
it to an hour and there have
been some wonderful items
donated that you could win
while supporting the Charities.
Speaking of charities, the Feb-
ruary Heart Fund did well be-
cause of the efforts of Auxil-
iary Chairwoman Delilah and
Aerie members who helped
her.
Come see what we have to
offer in April & May

MESSAGE FROM THE JUNIOR PAST WORTHY PRESIDENT
In case you haven’t heard, we have regular bingo every Monday night at 6:30. Buy in is $10.00 plus you can buy
blackout tickets for $1.00 each after you have bought the initial buy in. Blackout pays $200.00. The games usually
end around 8:30 pm, so it won’t keep you out too late. As you have read in this bulletin many times, we are still in
need of volunteers. The lodge is being painted and help could be used there. It won’t take too much of your time
and it will make you feel good that you did something for someone. If you can’t volunteer, then how about donat-
ing some $$$$$ to the roof fund. Even a few $$$ will make a difference. If you were not at the lodge when they
had Rib Eye Steaks you really missed a wonderful meal. We are trying to get our weekend music going again and
on the 9th there was a pretty good turn out. Let’s keep building on these nights. Starting in April we are going to get
our jam sessions going again on the 8th and 22nd with Max Jones hosting 4/8/18 and Gary B. and Vern hosting on
the 22nd. Let’s turn out and support this activity as everyone involved is working very hard to coordinate all activi-
ties at the lodge.
Remember that nominations for all officer positions are to be held at the last meeting in April with elections to be
held at the 1st meeting in May. Fraternally, Ron Weathers

Attention Aerie and Auxiliary Members
Please do not give the door person(s) or
bartenders a bad time when they ask to see
your Official Receipt at the door or bar.
They are doing their jobs. The door person
(s) or bartenders is required by law to ensure
that everyone that is in the lodge is a current
paid member or a signed in guest. Delin-
quent members cannot be signed in as a
guest. O.L.C.C requires that all members
have their Official Receipt with them when-
ever they are in the lodge. Again, the door
person(s) or bartenders are doing what is
required of them. If you have a problem
with this policy the trustees meet on Tues-
day nights at 6 pm in the poker room.
Aerie Brothers we are in need of a Membership
Committee and a Interview Committee. The Membership Committee needs 3 or more Brothers
and one chairperson. The Membership Committee ex-
plains to the candidate what the Eagles organization is
about, the charity work we do, our different commit-
tees, puts on events to bring in new members and ad-
vertises through social media, discounts on hotels and
motels, hearing aids, office Depot & Office Max. The
committee make sure that the application is filled out
properly.
The Interview Committee needs 3 or more Brothers
and one chairperson. This committee Interview the
candidates to make sure they are a good fit for our
lodge. We have a list of questions to ask each candidate
that is provided to us from Grand Aerie. The Interview
Chairperson brings to the floor the candidates names to
be voted on.
Brothers we need these two committees filled immedi-
ately. We need to build our membership back up to a
good level to support our lodge. We need to be in com-
pliance with the Grand Aerie Constitution and Statutes.
If you are interested, please see Worthy President Jim
Morgan or you can call the Aerie Secretary Ann
Madsen and leave a message at 503-363-3212. I will
get you in touch with the Worthy President.
Reminder on Volunteer Hours “PFO”
This month we would like to cover the importance of
documenting your volunteer hours. These hours do a
great deal to keep us a non-profit Lodge and off the tax
roll. We have to prove we are “People helping people”.
We are constantly in battle with the Government over
this, so the more hours we acquire, the more ammo we
have to keep our current status. These hours can be ac-
quired by any help to the needy, disabled, less fortunate,
even helping around the lodge, etc.… Examples; taking
someone to a doctor, dentist, eye appointments, any type
of appointment, errands, grocery, post office, shopping
etc.… Any non-profit fund raisers, care giving, help
someone around their house, sharing company, giving
comfort etc.… To donations to the lodge, money, food
supplies, raffle items, these all take travel time hours
mileage, etc. Maintenance repairs, we have chairs to re-
pair, painting, pulling weeds, the list is long. Forms are
available to track your time are on the glass case in the
entryway, please turn in monthly to a Aerie/Auxiliary
Secretary
