Our Embroidery Club—generously sponsored by Kingdom sewing, is a group of machine embroidery enthusiasts that meet on the second Monday of the month, 6:00 p.m., in the Simi store. Led by Melody and Jackie, the goal is to get people to actually use their machines! Our projects are simple ones; we charge a nominal fee—usually $3– to cover our supplies. WEEKLY SEWING CLASSES We are pleased to have Susan Godfrey teaching ongoing sewing classes from beginner through advanced.

She teaches in our Northridge store on Mondays and Wednesdays and in our Simi Store on Tuesdays. We

have classes for teens and adults, both private and semi-private, beginning at $25 per class. Please call for

ELLISIMO CLUB - Basics

This class will focus on the basics of the machine. We welcome new owners,

as well as those who would like a refresher. We’ll review the screens and find

out what all those little icons are for. We’ll also go over the settings, what they

mean and how they can make your sewing and embroidery more personalized

and enjoyable. We’ll review the stitches, some of the feet and other

accessories for the machine. Time permitting, we’ll do some easy editing in the embroidery screen and stitch it

out. Join us and play with the wonderful Ellisimo. Project list will be sent prior to class. Class is FREE for

machines purchased at Kingdom, all others: $75

FREE FREE MOTION QUILTING—Filler Stitches

Kathy is back with us for a free motion quilting class. This class will be taught using

the HQ16 and Baby Lock Tiara, but feel free to join in even if you don’t have one of

these machines...the techniques are the same. You’ll learn about stitching different

shapes to fill blank spaces on your quilts: stippling, pebbles, scallops, leaves and

more. There is no charge to take this class, and we’ll provide supplies.

Zundt Embroidery Pillow

Due to many requests, this class was postponed from last quarter. We’ll create a

gorgeous pillow featuring design from Zundt’s special collection books, but you

can choose any designs you like, as well as one of the two styles for the pillow.

We’ll use techniques such as ruching, crosshatching, piping and, of course, ma-

chine embroidery. This project will require that the embroidery be done at home

before class. So that you know how to plan for your embroidery, we will have a

brief pre-class to go over the project and help you decide which designs will work

best.

Sewing With Knits 101

Sewing with knits can be challenging. Learn about different knits and how to use them. Susan also

teaches gauging the amount of stretch and how it affects the sizing, stabilization, interfacing, finishing

techniques, tools and notions to help you along the way, and a bit about adjusting for the bust.

The first class will be lecture, handouts and discussion after which you will purchase your pattern, fabric

and cut out the top. Sew your top in the second class using either sewing machine and/or serger.

Jacobean Journey

There's still time to become a Hoop Sister or Mister! We had our first

class in February but can catch you up if you want to join us in this

Embroid-a-Block of the Month. It is an amazing heirloom quilt that you

complete block by block with your embroidery machine. All formats

included with a variety of block sizes from 5" to 9", even a whole cloth

fourth Thursday of each month. Demo/Lecture starts

Cameo Club Workshops

This quarter we’ll focus on cutting fabric. In this class, you will learn the tips

and tricks for cutting fabric on your Cameo while making make a traditional

appliqué quilt block that you can use in a project of your choice. And, as

always, we’ll throw in a surprise or two about the wonderful features of this

great machine. Please call to sign up so we know how many kits to prepare (and so we can let you know if

there are any tools you’ll need to bring). In the coming months we will do a heat-applied vinyl project on a t-

shirt, glass etching and crystals.
