What is Free fall?
Free fall is the downward motion under the influence ofgravity.
In other words, when the only force acting on an objectis gravity, the object is said to be in free fall.
In a vacuum (no air) all objects in free fall accelerate at thesame rate, regardless of mass.

There are two important motion characteristics that are true of free-falling objects:
Free-falling objects do not encounter air resistance. All free-falling objects (on Earth) accelerate downwards at a rate of
9.8 m/s/s.
Free fall & resistance
Time (s) Velocity (m/s) 0 0 1 - 9.8 2 - 19.6 3 - 29.4 4 - 39.2 5 - 49.0
