She and her husband had ownedand operated the Indian HeadRestaurant in Winamac, Indiana formany years. She enjoyed cooking,browsing recipe books and watchingher sons and grandsons play football.
She is survived by two sons: Troy(Hollie) Schultz of Culver, Indiana andTodd (Susan) Schultz of Star City, onedaughter, Amy (Mark) Cleary ofIndianapolis and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by onebrother, Kenneth A. Groom III.

He is survived by one son, Leon(Tieesha) Thomas Jr. of South Bend,Indiana, three daughters: ElizabethBeauchamp and Debra (Ed)Cunningham, both of Knox and Ritta(Tim) Brettin of Sherrills Ford, NorthCarolina, five step children: Rick(Cheryl) Fain of Missouri, Ron (Karen)Van Dusen of Plymouth, Indiana,Chuck (Cassandra Avery) Green ofHamlet, Bruce Hubbard of Knox andMisty Goetz of Valparaiso, twenty ninegrandchildren and thirty five greatgrandchildren. She was preceded indeath by one son, Daniel, one stepson, Evan Fain, one granddaughter,Stephanie Thomas, one great grand-son, Zachary Bielinski, one brother andone sister.

Marty was a veteran of the US Army,having served during the Korean War.He was a life member of the WinamacVFW Post #1728 and a member of AllSaints Catholic Church, Logansport,Indiana. He was a retired manager atPlymouth Tube, where he worked for41 years. In his younger years heenjoyed racing sprint cars atRensselaer Oxford and Plymouth.Marty also enjoyed watchingNASCAR, attending tractor pulls, fix-ing old cars, gardening, mowing, cut-ting firewood and riding his bicycle onthe Panhandle Pathway.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, twosons: Marty Martindale of Monticello,Indiana and Marshall (Shannon)Martindale of Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania, one daughter, MarlynnMartindale of Star City, four grandchil-dren, four brothers: George (Carol)Martindale of Star City, Virgil (Linda)Martindale of Humpston, Iowa, Joe(Cecilia) Martindale of Kewanna,Indiana and Jim (Brenda) Martindale ofLogansport and two sisters: Mildred(Aldin) Kinzey and Carolyn “Kay” (JeffHenderson) Malott, both ofLogansport. Howard retired from Starke MemorialHospital, where he had been a labtechnician. He loved the outdoors andwas an avid hunter and fisherman. Healso loved to fly and flew blood acrossnorthern Indiana for the Red Cross. Hehad been a referee for high schoolwrestling and football and well as beinga color commentator for high schoolfootball on WKVI radio in Knox.
He is survived by two sons: RichardM. (Patty) Brown and Robert R.(Rhonda) Brown, one daughter, Ria(Bob) Lukes, ten grandchildren andfourteen great grandchildren.
A private family burial was heldFriday, April 12.
