Look who we found in the kitchen with K/1A; Mr B.
The class really enjoyed showing him all their cooking and cleaning abilities.
Mr B assured the office staff that he would bring spring rolls back for us to
try, but they were all eaten!

Wednesday
21st of August
as it is a pupil free day.
Please remember, we
listened and moved our
Staff Development Day to
support families to attend
We kindly ask parents to
treat this as your preferred
day to visit this event with
your children.
Dear Parents and Community Members,
It certainly has been an amazingly busy 5 days at
Gunnedah South and I would like to take this
opportunity to thank teachers, parents, visitors and
community members who have contributed to the
success of an array of activities for our students. Also a
massive thank you to parents who took the time to reach
out and contact the school with suggestions, ideas and
compliments over the past week. These are always well
received and I have to say my staff and I do listen and
strive to improve in all areas. Especially the way we
communicate. An example is a number of teachers are
now using Goalhub with their classes to support students
to share their individual learning goals and progress in
achieving these learning goals.
School Photos
Thank you to the team from Montage Fotos who spent
four days this week visiting Gunnedah South to
photograph our students.
The team from Montage Fotos are now busily working
on printing our school photos and we look forward to
these being returned to the school in a few weeks. I have
had a sneak peak of some of the packs and they look
simply amazing!
A massive thank you to Montage Fotos for offering the
option for students who are absent during our photo
week to have photos taken in their studio at Fogarty
Fotos in the main street. Please do not hesitate to
contact them on 02 67426616 to make arrangements for

2019 Education Week
Namoi Partner Schools Awards
Last Friday the 9th of August, we celebrated Public
Education Week with all schools from the Namoi
Schools combined Education Week Awards. Each
school awarded three recipients with an award for
their dedication to public education. We were
delighted to present the following awards.
Student Award: Charlotte Semmler
Community Member Award: Melinda McCulloch
Staff Member Award: Debbie Flemming
A big thank you to the Hon. Mrs Sarah Mitchell—NSW Education Minister, the Hon. Mr Kevin Anderson—Tamworth MP, Mr Mark Young, Director Educational Leadership and numerous community members who supported the awards. A clear highlight for me was the combined choir and performances from GSKidd.
A massive congratulations to all award recipients and thank you to all involved with organising the successful education event and to our very worthy recipients from South.
Kindergarten Transition
Today we held our second day of 2020 Kindergarten Transition. Our Kindergarten Transition program is always lots of fun and I encourage parents to support their children in attending this quality program. The enthusiasm and excitement of transition is always a very special time in our school and I look forward to getting to know each and every transition student over the program.
In Terms 3 and 4, we will be providing a number of additional opportunities for children to be supported in our Kindergarten Transition Program.
Reminder: Our 2020 ‐ Transition Packs are available from our school office. Mrs McGowan our Kindergarten Transition Coordinator has dropped some packs at local preschools to support people who can’t make it to our school office during the opening hours.
Please remember it is not too late, we are still taking all enrolments for 2020.

2020 Kindergarten Students
To support the transition of Kindergarten students into our fantastic school, I can now confirm we will be continuing our School Speech Therapist and Occupational Therapist program in 2020. Both specialists will be working with teachers and students throughout the transition program.
Finally, as always thank you for the opportunity to share the wonderful happenings for our students at Gunnedah South Public School. Have a safe and happy weekend.
