LAST DAY OF TERM 2 PBL Reward Day
Our year 5 excursion students in front of Parliament House.
This is the first of many photos that we will see in the newsletter over
the coming weeks.
From all reports the students have had a great time and we look forward to hearing about their experiences.
Dear Parents and Community Members,
Wow... what a busy end to term we are having.
This week has seen all the snow bunnies hopping off to Canberra and the snow fields as well as continued building works here at school, NPS sport and lots of organisation for NAIDOC week, which will be celebrated on the first week of next term.
Next week we have student reports going home on Monday, parent/teacher interviews on Tuesday, SRC CRAZY SOCK DAY on Wednesday and PBL reward day and SUPER STORE on Friday. So students and teachers will be busy and engaged right to the end of term!
Return from Holidays Please remember our Staff Development Day has been moved from the first day of term three to the Wednesday of Agquip week at the request of parents. Therefore, there is not a student free day on the first day back, all students return on Monday 22nd July.
Parent/teacher interviews Student reports will be sent home on Monday, 1st July and parent/teacher meetings will be held on the following day, Tuesday, 2nd July. Teachers have time slots scheduled from 3:40 until 6:30pm on that afternoon and evening. If you would like to book a time to speak with your child’s teacher, we ask that you please phone the school office on 67421899 to make a booking. If there are no times left that are convenient for you, please leave a message and your child’s teacher will get back to you regarding an alternative time and day that suits you both.
Morning and afternoon safety
Our school has been working with representatives from Gunnedah Council and the Roads and Maritime Service to look at how safe roads are around the school. As part of this visit, traffic at our school is currently under observation. Please, if you have any concerns or issues that you have noticed, can you write these down and drop them into the school office.
NAIDOC week
Please remember to keep looking at the Facebook page and skoolbag app for information regarding this year’s NAIDOC celebrations. We are holding excursions, a disco, classroom activities, the official flag raising and an assembly including performances. Please come along and support. Have a fantastic week and don’t forget Year 5 to be at school at 7:30pm.
Yr 5 Excursion There was much excitement amongst our Year 5
students, teachers and parents last Sunday morning
as the Yr5 Canberra and snow excursion departed.
Everyone had their winter woollies packed and they
were so looking forward to a great experience. This
morning we received word from Mr B that the
excursion had a late start on their return trip and
will now be expected back in Gunnedah between
7-8pm tonight. Please look for notifications at
approx. 6pm as the expected time of arrival will be
updated at that time.
Wishing everyone a relaxing and fun weekend.
With kind regards,
Nicki Walsh

With 4C
4C have been working hard to experience the NAIDOC week theme VOICE TREATY TRUTH lets work together for a shared future.
The three points: Voice, Treaty and Truth are key elements to the reforms set out in the Uluru Statement from the Heart—such reforms represent the unified position of First Nations Australians.
They worked as a whole class, demonstrating life skills such as decision making and team work, to create their rainbow serpent artwork.
The Rainbow Serpent (Serpent ) dreaming in Aboriginal society represents one of the great and powerful forces of nature and spirit. Connected to water, the Rainbow Serpent is the great life giver, and protector of water, which is his spiritual home .
Parent/Teacher meetings are being held on the
afternoon and evening of Tuesday, 2nd July.
Time slots are filling up quickly.
If you wish to make an appointment with your
child’s teacher, please call the school office on
6742 1899 to book a suitable time.
Kindergarten Speech Program
You have a few minutes to spare each week where you
could work with some of our delightful Kindergarten
students?
We have a number of children in Kindergarten who
have been assessed as having articulation difficulties.
With a little one-on-one assistance it is
anticipated that they will quickly over come these.
Our Speech Pathologist, Cass Hinchcliffe, has put
together a program to help these students and we
are now looking for a few volunteers who would be
willing to help implement it each week.
Mrs Hinchcliffe works, Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday and could be available to assist with any
queries. If you could spare 30-40 minutes on one of
these days, please contact Mrs McGowan.
A volunteer, Working With Children Check would
be needed.
