While paying tributes, Gandotra said that Comrade Dhanwantri gave exemplary sacrifices fighting along with Shaheed-e-Aazm Bhagat Singh, Chander Shekhar Azad, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Shiv Verma and others for the freedom of country. While interacting with Prof Dhar, various issues pertaining to B.Ed and Nursing colleges were discussed threadbare, which included introduction of 4 year BA-B.Ed integrated course, holding of Management as well as selection Committee meetings regularly, optimal utilisation of infrastructural facilities by adding part-time vocational courses, meetings with Force members at least twice a year, conduct of University Exams in private college, abolition of ACC visits, NAAC etc. The Vice Chancellor, while addressing delegation, stressed upon maintaining quality education in the institutes. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Two-day National Conference on 'Emerging Trends in Quality Assurance and Enhancement in Software Development' jointly organised by the Department of Computer Sciences & IT and Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance, University of Jammu concluded here on Thursday. Prof Anju Bhasin, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, was the Chief Guest during valedictory func- tion and commended the efforts of the department for successfully organising the conference. Prof Bhasin further said that the tracks and research talks were highly technical and covered contemporary issues of computer science. He said that the link between teaching and research was very impor- tant and such conferences should be organised regularly for betterment of students and scholars. Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, University of Jammu and Director, Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance, in her address, talked about the importance of quality assurance. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Appreciating Governor's approval of Mubarak Mandi Master Plan, President Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) and former Minister, Gulchain Singh Charak however expressed dismay over the exclusion of non-official members, in defiance of statutory rules of the socie- ty. Briefing media persons here on Thursday, Charak laid stress upon the need for including some knowl- edgeable persons from History stream and those connected with the heritage site as non-official mem- bers, to gain from their knowledge and experience. Former Minister recalled that a sum of Rs 50 lakh was sanctioned and approved for shifting the archive documents to Old Information Department's building after its restora- tion. He informed that based on the information received in response of a RTI from the concerned Department, only a sum of Rs 10,055,454 has been spent while nothing was mentioned about balance amount of Rs 39,44,546. No money was spent to ren- ovate the Old Information Department's building at all, he said adding that the expenditures were made appear exorbitant, unjusti- fied, and wasteful, if not fraudulent. Charak quoted specific details like purchase of Khaddar cloth worth Rs 2 Lakh 40 thousand, Carriage Charges from Mubarak Mandi to Kala Kendra Bikram Chowk Rs 87,500 plus labour charges for the same, Rs 54, 600. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: A 60-member Indian Army contingent from the Udhampur-based Northern Command will leave for Oman next week for a joint military exercise, a defence official said on Thursday. Northern Command General-Officer- Commanding-In-Chief Lt Gen Ranbir Singh interacted with the contingent on Thursday. The team is participating in the fortnight-long 'Al-Nagah III', the third in a series of bilateral army exercises between the two countries, the spokesman said. Lt Gen Singh said the exer- cise is scheduled to be held from March 12-March 25 at Jabel Al Akhdar mountains and it will see the two armies exchange expertise and expe- rience in tactics, weapon-han- dling and firing. The exercise aims to enhance interoperability in antiterrorist operations in semiurban mountainous ter- rain, the spokesman said. The bilateral security ties have continued to develop since the beginning of India- Oman Joint Military Cooperation meetings in 2006, underscoring the strategic partnership between two important nations of Indian Ocean Region (IOR). The Indian contingent will be represented by four offi- cers, nine Junior Commissioned Officers and 47 other ranks of the Garhwal Rifles Regiment, The spokesman said. He said similar strength is also to be fielded by the Jabel Regiment of Royal Army of Oman (RAO). Observer delegation com- prising senior officers of both the armies will witness the validation demonstration to be held on March 25, the spokesman said. The spokesman said the vast presence of Indian expa- triates contributes to the eco- nomic development of the two countries. The relationship between the two nations assumes spe- cial significance with IOR fast turning out to be the nerve centre of trade, commerce and energy security between the east and the west, the spokesman said, adding the exercise will go a long way in enhancing and understanding of capabilities and strength- ening camaraderie between the two armies. This was stated by the Mayor JMC, Chander Mohan Gupta on Thursday after inaugurating development works in ward no 29 and 33. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor appealed to residents and shopkeepers of the area not to throw garbage, poly- thene etc in lanes and drains besides cooperating with JMC to make Jammu neat clean and green under Swacch Bharat Mission. The Mayor also visited var- ious adjoining areas along with concerned Corporators to listen to the issues and grievances of people. He assured the residents that all the highlighted issued would be looked into and addressed on priority. "Modi Government wants to dis- courage open defecation and necessary arrangements are being made to promote con- struction of hygienic toilets in various area," he added. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Prof Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party made a appeal to the President, Ramnath Kovind to take much delayed decision for extending all Fundamental Rights of Indian Constitution to the residents of J&K (Indian citizens), so that Constitution of India is extended to the State with Indian Flag, which has been delayed for 70 years. He said that people of J&K have demonstrated and proved their commitment to secularism and brotherhood even in 1947, when India was divided. Prof Bhim Singh shall be holding meetings of the Panthers Party Advisory Committees, both in Jammu and Srinagar, to seek their cooperation for contesting all Parliamentary seats (six) from J&K in order to demonstrate the spirit of people for their integration with the rest of country, with full basic and funda- mental rights. This was stated by former Deputy Chief Minister and BJP senior leader, Kavinder Gupta along with MLC Vikram Randhawa on Thursday after starting development works at ward no 20 in Gandhi Nagar Constituency. The much awaited lanes and drains works in Shastri Nagar in ward no 20, will be execut- ed by JMC at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh. Jaideep Sharma, Vinay Gupta, K L Sharma, Tarsem, AEE JMC and Ashok Sharma were also present on the occasion. By making such remarks, the leader has himself raised question on his respect for the nation and security forces. This was stated by BJP State Spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, while condemning approach of Congress in mat- ters related to security of country and loss of lives of security personnel, who have been fighting a proxy war in Kashmir for security of the motherland and citizens. Prof Anju Bhasin, ViceChancellor, Cluster Universityof Jammu, was the ChiefGuest during valedictory func-tion and commended theefforts of the department forsuccessfully organising theconference.

Prof Bhasin further saidthat the tracks and researchtalks were highly technical andcovered contemporary issuesof computer science. He saidthat the link between teachingand research was very impor-tant and such conferencesshould be organised regularlyfor betterment of students andscholars.

STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: A 60-memberIndian Army contingent fromthe Udhampur-basedNorthern Command will leavefor Oman next week for ajoint military exercise, adefence official said onThursday.

Northern CommandG e n e r a l - O f f i c e r -Commanding-In-Chief LtGen Ranbir Singh interactedwith the contingent onThursday.

The team is participating inthe fortnight-long 'Al-NagahIII', the third in a series ofbilateral army exercisesbetween the two countries,the spokesman said.

Lt Gen Singh said the exer-cise is scheduled to be heldfrom March 12-March 25 atJabel Al Akhdar mountainsand it will see the two armies

exchange expertise and expe-rience in tactics, weapon-han-dling and firing.

The exercise aims toenhance interoperability inantiterrorist operations insemiurban mountainous ter-rain, the spokesman said.

The bilateral security tieshave continued to developsince the beginning of India-Oman Joint MilitaryCooperation meetings in2006, underscoring thestrategic partnership betweentwo important nations ofIndian Ocean Region (IOR).
