Friends of the Palmer Museum of ArtHoliday Art and Ornament Sale Sponsorship

The Palmer Museum of Art is a signi�cant centerpiece of cultural activity for Penn State, central Pennsylvania, and beyond the region. An average of 38,000 people visit the museum each year. Visitors of all ages are welcome to explore the museum’s exhibitions and collections on display throughout eleven galleries, admission free.

The Friends of the Palmer Museum of Art, the museum’s membership organization, continually volunteer their time to further the educational and public service interests of the museum. In doing so, they strive to raise funds that are used to support more than 100 annual museum programs and events, o�ered to all visitors, admission free.

The Holiday Art and Ornament Sale, an annual weekend fundraiser in December, is organized by the Friends to help generate income used for supporting the museum’s educational programming that in turn, helps the museum provide service back to our community. Each year, one local artist is commissioned to create the signature ornament for the sale and other local artists are invited to participate on consignment. Ornaments are displayed for sale on trees throughout the �rst �oor galleries and other works of art are displayed for sale on tables in the lobby. A members-only preview sale and reception takes place on Friday evening with an average attendance of 150, and the sale is open to the public on Saturday with an average attendance of 240.
