   Amazing Razor-sharp Teeth Crushes the Snackmates! 

  Vegetable – couldn’t take it anymore. She was

flattened and destroyed! 

  Chicken Meat – seems to take a longer time incrushing this guy 

  Rice – Saliva made it disintegrate! 

  Three accomplices covered the Snackmates with saliva! 

  The Pretty Ms. Parotid 

  The Suave Mr. Submaxillary Gland 

  The Happy Mr. Sublingual Gland 

  The Tantalizing Tongue: Get ready to become Bolus! C.  Pharynx and Esophagus: Digestion’s Escalators 

  The Snackmates are transported to the next challenge

within 8 seconds! D.  The Stomach: The J-shaped Room of Chemical Obstacles 

  Cardiac Sphincter – the “bodyguard” of the Stomach 

  The “bolused” Snackmates feel that the walls of the room

are squeezing them.

  The “Snackmates are to be further disintegrated with Mr.

Gastric Juice! 

  Mr Gastric Juice aka the Gastric Jock will turn them to

chyme! 

  Meat – finally disintegrated into bits (peptides)   Pyloric Sphincter – the “bodyguard” between the Stomach

and the small intestine E.  Jejunum – the Funky Bridge to the Small Intestine

F.  The Small Intestine – the Sucking Component of Digestion.

It sucks all the Nutrients out of all the contenders.

  Dandy Doudenum – The Digestive part of the small

intestine

  Despite their present condition, the Snackmates

were crushed further by the forces of DandyDuodenum.

  Inspiring Ileum – The Absorbing part of the small intestine

  Inspiring Ileum absorbs the nutrients out of the

Snackmates to provide for the host. G.  The Large Intestine – The compactor of foodstuffs 

  The decomposed Snackmates are compacted together. 

  Water from the contenders was absorbed to do this. 

  The Snackmates are ready to be launched to the outside

world as feces! H.  Anus and Rectum – the launching pads of Digestion

  The Snackmates are launched to the outside world through

muscle action.

  The internal and external “bodyguards” (sphincters) that 

guard the exit relax.

  The Liver and the Pancreas– The Ultimate Chemical

Factories of Digestion

  The Liver produces Bile, the chemical for breaking

down fats

  The Pancreas produces chemicals for the

breakdown of carbs, fats, and meat (carbohydrates,

lipids and proteins)

  The Gall Bladder – The Bile “Storehouse”
