In writing this letter, I find myself reflecting on both the past and the future. It’s more noticeable today, as this day, Tuesday, November 8, 2016, will likely go down in history as one of the most important Presidential elections our nation has known. As I reflect on our country’s history, I wonder, how, we as a nation, got to where we are today? How did we come to be accepting of abortion at any stage? How did we ignore our Founding Father’s affirmation “… that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life…”? How did we come to decide that a life, with a beating heartbeat, inside a mother’s womb, having a unique DNA structure and central nervous system, is not a person? By the time you receive this letter, the next leader of our great nation will have already been chosen. Like you, I’m concerned what that might mean from many different aspects. And, like many of you, I have spent many months in prayer – asking for God’s favor and healing that can only come from Him. While this Election Day is important, it will not change what we do at LaVie. We will wake up tomorrow, put on “the full armor of God” and be ready to be the light to many of our patients living in a dark and lonely world. In fact, it is that very light that LaVie has been shining in the Billings Community for the last 25 years. While not every patient case we were involved with over the last 25 years ended how we had hoped, we can claim victory, in Jesus’ name, as we serve more and more patients each year, thus allowing us an opportunity to emulate the love of Jesus – particularly to abortion minded women. Regardless of who will be the next President, we will continue to bring hope to the broken- hearted, and provide truth through medical services and education, thereby empowering women. • 1990 – Young woman shared her testimony of her unplanned pregnancy in high school. Sunday school teacher reacted to woman’s testimony by helping launch an alternative to abortion clinics.

• 1991 – Doors opened for Billings Crisis Pregnancy Center.

• 2000 – Changed name to Care Net Pregnancy Center of Billings to take advantage of national advertising.

• 1991-2004 – Operated Broadwater location offering counseling, free pregnancy tests, and material assistance.

• 2004 – Approval granted to add medical services in hopes of reaching more abortion minded women.

• 2005 – Second location opened in the heights - adjacent from the surgical abortion facility. Heights Clinic offered free of charge services - medical consultations, pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, and prenatal classes, resulting in increased abortion minded women utilizing services.

• 2008 – After seeing the impact of the medical services, the Broadwater location was remodeled and reopened with medical services.

• 2008-2010 – Operated two clinics, offering counseling, free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds with RNs, and daily prenatal classes. The need to add a medical provider at our Heights location was identified.

• 2010 – Changed name to LaVie and moved into remodeled St. Vincent Healthcare medical facility in the Heights, offering a wide variety of women’s medical services.

• 2011-2013 – Services/marketing/staff revamped with the intentions of becoming more relevant to our demographics. Physician joined LaVie Heights. Women being served, particularly abortion minded, reached an all-time high.

• 2014 – Free STI exams added, resulting in seeing more female and now male patients. Added services continue to be secondary to pregnancy tests and ultrasounds. Services allow more opportunities to educate patients on lifestyle choices, abstinence, and their faith.

• 2015 – LaVie Heights began offering Saturday hours.

• 2016 – Record number of abortion minded women served, up 27% over prior year.

• 2017 – Purchase/improve ultrasound technology. Thus, providing the best life affirming imagery for our patients. Genesis 1:27

A Patient StoryAmy* was from a small town outside of the Billings area. She called to

schedule an appointment for an ultrasound as she already had a pregnancy test done at a local clinic in her town. At the time Amy made her appointment, she shared that she was considering an abortion. She is in her mid-20’s, working a minimum wage job, seemed to have reasonable support from her mom and from her boyfriend. Amy presented for her ultrasound. Her boyfriend, Paul, was with her; he’s quiet but present. The ultrasound revealed an early, viable pregnancy. At this early stage, the baby looks like a grain of rice. Because the baby is so small and is mostly all heart, the whole baby moves as the heart beats. When a woman is considering abortion, one never knows how she is going to respond to what she sees on the ultrasound. In Amy’s case, she exclaimed “There’s a heartbeat!” Seeing life does make a difference. It made a difference for Amy and her little one. Amy chose life for her baby that day.

It is such a blessing every day to have the ability to provide proof of life and share a window into truth for these women!
