Where UPLC inherently improves MS sensitivity, the acQuity uPlc i-class system provides such advances in peak definition and concentration that ionization capabilities will take another leap forward. For triple quadrupole ms quantitation, new limits of detection and sensitivity are within reach for compounds with high efficacy and low dosage; for qualitative time-of-flight ms, more signal scan is available for accurate and exact mass identification and quantification of all components within a compound.

The ACQUITY UPLC I-Class System is an ideal match for mass spectrometry. Here, the system was paired with a Xevo® TQ-S for the analysis of omeprazole, achieving a quantification range of 500 ag to 10 pg on-column. No detectable carryover within 20% of the limit of quantitation was observed after the injection of the highest concentration standard.

The low dispersion characteristics of the ACQUITY UPLC I-Class System allow you to push your separations to a new level. This ballistic gradient for a series of anesthetics achieved standard deviations for retention time as low as 12 ms for six replicates. The separation achieved a peak capacity of 46 in 10 s with a 1/2 height peak width as low as 88 ms.

In this example, the optimum concentration of TFA for a peptide map is identified simply by varying the percentage of flow taken from the D line.
