Author Profile The Issue 3 Author is none other than Dav Pilkey, author of numerous popular, laugh-out-loud funny, award winning books, such as Captain Underpants, The Adventures of Super Diaper Baby, Dog Man, and The Adventures of Ook & Gluk–just to name a few. Interestingly Dav was diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia as a child and was a bit of a class clown at school, which meant he was often getting into trouble and would find himself sitting at the hallway desk. It was during detention that he used his creativity and imagination to pass the time by drawing picture books and comics.

Dav deliberately leaves cross-outs and revisions visible in Dog Man. Not only does it look more realistic, as though a kid has written and illustrated the story, but shows that it’s ok to make mistakes because things improve with revision. FUN FACT: He changed the spelling of his name while working at Pizza Hut, when his name was misspelled as Dav on his nametag, and the rest, as they say, is history...
