Monsignor Tim’s Golden Jubi-lee of Priesthood Celebrations. Congratulations to Monsignor Tim who celebrated his golden jubilee of priesthood on Sunday.

It was wonderful to see such an incredible turn out of current and past parishioners from Sacred Heart and Father’s other parishes over the years. I would like to thank our choir who joined with the Parish to lead the music at the mass. I am proud of their efforts and impeccable behaviour. Well done girls and boys! Oh what a night at Bogan Bingo!

Our community joined together on Friday evening for our P&F Bogan Bingo night. And what a night it was! It was wonder-ful to see our community dress up and join together in a spirit of fun and enjoyment. We sincerely thank Claudia Therkelsen for taking the lead on the event and the P&F helpers who worked tirelessly to organise a very entertaining evening for us all. Thank you to all involved. At the end of the night, staff in attendance took part in an auction which required us to wear our outfits to school on Monday. And here is the proof! Sacred Heart Cross Country Carnival Thank you to Mr Callan Leach for preparing children for today’s cross country competition. It was wonderful to see the children doing their very best, even if running long distances isn’t one of their talents. The determination and persistence displayed was something to be very proud of. Congratulations to all participants.

Sacred Heart Day

One of the most exciting days in the school calendar is almost upon us; Sacred Heart Day. This year Sacred Heart Day will be celebrated on Friday 23 June from 8.45am. This year Sacred Heart Day coincides with reports going home and it is expected that all children will remain at school until the conclusion of the day. Reports will be handed out to children at the end of the day and not before.

These meetings provide an integral part of home/school communication and give you a greater insight into your child/children’s academic and social attainment so far this year. It is integral that parents and teachers maintain a strong partnership in the interests of each child. Please take the time to book an appointment with your child’s class teacher as soon as possible. Semester One Reports The Semester One Report for Pre-Primary to Year Six students provides a written account of academic pro-gress against a state wide grading scale indicating the level of achievement and effort demonstrated for each learning area that has been reached at this stage of the school year. It is important to remember that if your child receives a ‘C’ grade, they are achieving at the required level for their year. The final page of the report indicates Self Management and Awareness as well as Social Management and Awareness progress which underpins and enables learning to take place for each student. The Church calendar is separated into three main seasons with many Feast days scattered

throughout. The Easter Season lasts for 50 days and concludes on the Feast of Pentecost. During

this time of the year there are many Feast days scattered throughout. These Feast days tell us a

story!

After Jesus rose from the dead, he had 40 days to ‘tie up loose ends’ so to speak. It is during this

time that Jesus spent his time getting his Apostles ready to continue the work of God and keep

evangelising and telling people about God. And so it was, 40 days later, Jesus said his final fare-

well to his Apostles and went to live in heaven permanently. This is the Feast of the Ascension

when Jesus ascends to heaven. As Jesus leaves, he gives us a farewell gift. A gift that will live with

us forever. A gift that will help us to make good choices. It is more than just our conscience! It is

the Holy Spirit. This gift was given to us on the Feast of Pentecost which takes place in the week

after the Ascension and is the official start of ‘The Church’.

Well, we know that God the Father created the world, He sent us his Son Jesus as a human per-

son we could all see and relate to and now we have the Holy Spirit. Do you see a pattern emerg-

ing? Father, Son and Holy Spirit. After receiving the final piece of the puzzle, one week after the

Feast of Pentecost we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Trinity – Three persons, one entity.

This Sunday, we celebrate our last Feast day before the Church season changes to Ordinary Time.

This is the Feast of Corpus Christi OR the Feast of the Body and Blood of Jesus and is a day when

Catholics all around the world pay homage to Jesus and the sacrifice He made so that we can live

forever.

Last Sunday people came from near and far to join Father Tim as he celebrated 50 years of ser-

vice to God through the priesthood. It was a beautiful liturgy and it was great to see members of

the school and parish come together to celebrate this momen-

tous occasion. Sincere thank you to the 25 members of the

school choir who joined together with just over 30 members of

the parish music ministry to create one Mass choir consisting of

over 50 singers. The music was simply amazing and really en-

hanced the liturgy which made the Mass that extra bit special!

What a Story! Feast Days in Context.

During STEM activities, students create their own research questions and follow a pro-cess that helps them learn to investigate multiple perspectives and connect ideas to solve a problem. Children collaborate with others; asking important questions and test many ideas to reach a solution. They are encouraged to PLAN, MAKE and IMPROVE their ideas.

BRIDGES

A structure built over something (as water, a low place, or a railroad) so people can cross.

Challenge: To build a 25cm LEGO Bridge that can standby itself.

TRIANGLES

Triangles are the strongest shape because any external force is distributed evenly through all three sides. The strongest triangle is an equilateral triangle. The length of each side is equal and all of the angles are 60 degrees.

Challenge 1: To build an organic shape, using coloured card triangles that can stand on its

own.

Challenge 2: To build an igloo using newspaper triangles.

Death and Loss Through the Eyes of a Child or Teen Perth

Maggie Dent has worked very closely with death and dying due to her extensive background in palliative care, the funeral industry, as a counsellor and as a celebrant who has conducted over 250 funerals. In this presen-tation Maggie will explore the grieving process through the eyes of children and adolescents and explore strategies and suggestions to better support families, schools and communities to help not hinder this heal-ing process.

Sacred Heart Day will be held on Friday 23 June this year, where ALL PROFITS go to the school’s nominated charities. Your P&F will be providing the following services:

Lunch – We are having a break from the usual sausage sizzle this year. Instead, we are enlisting the service

of Red Rooster to supply our lunch on the day.

This lunch will cost $5.00 and will consist of:

CITY OF GOSNELLS INVITATION

The Red Cross will facilitate an informative and engaging presentation and Q & A session on the reasons why people need to leave their home country, human rights and the difference between asylum seekers, refugees and illegal immigrants.

You will see that Colin had also built the lectern (left) that we use for official gatherings, and so it was nice to be able to give Father some link with the school.
