Over the next few days, Virginia will be producing Financial Statements for all families, so that they

are aware of their current financial commitment with the school and can reconcile the statements

as soon as possible. If you have any queries regarding your statement please don’t hesitate to

contact Virginia.

All our Statements are produced in good faith, so please check them to ensure that they are

accurate and reflect your child/rens involvement in school activities.

From the Principal:

Over the past week our Parents’ and Friends’ Club has been extremely active being involved in a number of catering events that not only supports the school but raises invaluable funds for the school at the same time. They have been involved in The professional Development Day held at KooWeeRup, the Parents and Friends Day, Catering for the Prep Transition Day, Model Airfield Event and the Cross Country held on Monday. Not a bad weeks’ work and many of the helpers fronted up to most, if not all of these events. This was a fantastic achievement and we should pay tribute to this band of supporters who have gone out of their way to support the students, staff and school.

The contribution that our Parent Body makes to the school is one of the key ingredients in making Cardinia Primary such a great place to be – not only in the areas of catering and Fund Raising but by coming along and supporting the children in their sporting activities, educational pursuits and improving the facilities and grounds of the school. We wouldn’t have such a well equipped and well presented environment if it wasn’t for the endeavours of our parent bodies (School Council and Parents’ Club) and the many other parents and friends who willingly give up their time for the school and its students. On behalf of the students and staff “Thank You” and please keep up the great support.

Teacher Stop Work Action:

On Thursday June 7th

the Australian Education Union is calling for a 24 hour Stop Work Action in support of their current Log of Claims before the State Government. At the time of writing this newsletter we haven’t received confirmation that the action will be taken, nor am I aware of which staff may be taking action. A separate letter will be sent home once the two above items become known.

PLEASE take care at all times in the Car Park areas. Caution and alertness needs to be uppermost in everyone’s minds when in these areas.

It is very important that if any parent or friend of the school has any concerns, queries or problems regarding any aspect of the school to bring it to the attention of your child’s teacher or Allan straight away.

Anyone wishing to put an item in the newsletter is asked to send it as an email to [email protected] by Tuesday evening.

Students are reminded that the bringing of electronic games and other valuable items to school do so at their own risk. If such items are misplaced or damaged then the owners of such items are responsible for any cost incurred.

Mobile phones and ipods need to be handed into the office on arrival to school and then collected at the end of the day. Students don’t require these items during the normal school day.

Deb Beale the School Chaplain is available on a weekly basis to support children, parents or families in a wide variety of areas. Please feel free to contact Deb or the school if you would like to use this service. Deb is in attendance every second Thursday and every Friday of the month.

Josh and very much appreciated.

To our School Captains and Student Council President for attending our May School Council Meeting. Much appreciated guys and your report and contribution was well received by School Council. A big thank you to the Parents who took the time to support the Grade 6 students in this school activity.

To all the students who participated in the Inter-School Cross country and for giving it their best shot. Congratulations to Lilly Preston for coming first in her age group and the other students who finished top 10 and will be progressing to the next level on Wednesday the 6th of June.

To the parents and friends who assisted with the Catering at the Cross Country – very much appreciated.

To Megan Armstrong for all the help she gives Mrs Smith each morning before School.

To the various students who go out of their way to pick up papers, care for the animals and assist around the school in any way that they can. Your help and assistance is greatly appreciated.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

AFTER SCHOOL CARE In our After School Care Programs, we positively impact the lives of thousands of children every week. Whilst we focus on smiles and having fun, we take very seriously the responsibilities of caring for the most important person in your life. In After School Care we provide a healthy nutritional snack platter of fruit and a second course like dorittos etc. The children are given the opportunity to experience on a day to day basis; Arts, craft, music, drama, sports, games as well as cooking. Holiday Clubs are available to attend so get online to find the closest one and book in for these holidays. Come and join the fun…… book today www.campaustralia.com.au or call Taya on 0452 211 857

Enrolments 2013: Once again the school is in the process of organising and managing the prep enrolment intake for 2013. The school must accept all applications for children living in its Neighbourhood Area and siblings of all students currently enrolled. We then look at children outside the Neighbourhood Boundary (in inquiry order) if there are any remaining places in our Prep cohort. As you can imagine, the numbers ebb and flow over the next 6 – 8 months, even up to the official start date of the 2013 school year. Parents are reminded that they need to let the School know as soon as possible if they are not going to be with us in 2013. This enables us to do accurate planning at all year levels. Your co-operation in this matter would be greatly appreciated. (Any such information would be kept strictly confidential)

Woolworths – Earn and Learn Promotion:

Cardinia Primary School has registered as a part icipat ing school in the Woolworths Earn and

Learn Program. When shopping at Woolworths you receive st ickers based on the amount you

spend. These st ickers are then placed on a card- ( available from the off ice) and collected by the

School. At the end of the promot ion the cards and st ickers are redeemed by the school from

Woolworths in the form of Educat ional products. So if you shop at Woolworths don’ t forget

those st ickers and collect them from family and fr iends. Your help and support in collect ing the

st ickers would be appreciated.

However please don’ t feel obligated to shop at Woolworths, just for the sake of a few st ickers.

Deepest Sympathy; On behalf of the school I’d like to express our Deepest Sympathy to Megan and Sarah (and Family) with the sudden loss of their Grandmother Jedda Janz to illness. Our thoughts are with the girls and their parents at this time.

2013 PREPS Our first transition session for 2013 Preps was successful, with 37 children attending. Thanks to Deb Buxton for her assistance on the day. The children played in the Prep rooms while parents shared afternoon tea with Allan. Thanks also to Parents Club who catered for afternoon tea and provided such a lovely welcome to the school for our new families.

KOOWEERUP COMMUNITY EXCURSON FOR PREPS This will be held on Friday the 15th June. Private transport will be used and the Fire Station in KooWeeRup will be used as our base for the day. Further information and permission forms will be sent home to all Preps this week.

INTERSCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY After a false start on Friday, the rescheduled Cross Country was run on Monday. All the children who represented Cardinia did a fantastic job. The top 10 in the 10’s, 11’s and 12’s proceed through to the Division Event to be held on Wednesday 6th June at Mornington Race Course (more information when further details are received). A huge thanks to our fantastic Parents Club who were able to gather enough hands on a days notice to run the Canteen at the rescheduled event. Very much appreciated.
