boys, Sam Fisher – 11 years boy, Fern Berry – Junior girl, Josh Upsall – Junior boy, Serenity Ellacott –

Senior girl.

Congratulations to our Athletics Age Champions. they were presented with their trophies at assembly this morning and TOUCH FOOTBALL GALA DAY

On Thursday the 20th of July 18 students participated in a PSSA Touch Football Gala Day held at Coffs Harbour. The girls team were unlucky to be knocked out early in the day against a very strong Urunga side but went on to improve their skills throughout each friendly match. The boys side made it all the way to the semi-finals playing valiantly in their last game against a very strong Narranga team. The day was a fantastic show of football talent in the area with special thanks going to all the parents who drove students and Sharri Alford who provided drink bottles and jerseys for both squads. Three very excited students celebrated their achievements at the end of Term 2 with a Book Party and Certificates awarded for their comittment to Music Studies and have now moved up a level with new

tutorial books and C.D.s Holly Douglas, Evie Glyde and Hannah McNeil have proven that their daily practise at home has paid off with outstanding efforts throughout the past few years, Congratulations girls. Jasper Logar-Rundle sat for his 1st Grade exam and was very happy with his result of Honours, he is now in the throes of studying for his next grade and I am proud of his work ethic and terrific attitude in all areas of Music studies, Well Done. Daniel and I always look forward to our end of term concerts where all the piano students listen and support their peers, these concerts are a terrific incentive for our students to keep going with positive feedback. Lovely to be back teaching your children this term, Ms Viv. STATE CROSS COUNTRY SUCCESS

Josh Upsall competed in the State All Schools Cross Country Championships last Friday at Sydney Motorsport Park. It was a great day for running. Fine, a little wind and good temperature (although a little cool for us spectators/cheer squad in the grand stand). Josh ran at his absolute best and finished 27th overall (his goal was top 30) and 18th for PSSA 10yrs. This is his second year competing at this very competitive, high level and was a great improvement on his 41st placing from last year. Well done Josh.

CANTEEN NEWS Giinagay to all for NAIDOC week, albeit later than the official one due to the advent of a term vacation inconveniently coinciding with the official week. To commemorate this auspicious week, the canteen will be serving ice cups and mini ice cups in flavours that are coloured yellow, red and black, or at least dark purple from the special blue berries imported from Tamworth, for the occasion. As mentioned last week, the canteen will be trialling some new items to improve our “every day” to “occasional” food ratio. Two of the items on the menu can be changed from “occasional” to “every day” by changing ingredients. Believe it or not, the crumbed coating on the chicken burger patties and the tempura batter coating on the fish burger pieces are what makes them “occasional” foods. Now we have no intention of scraping off these offending coatings but we can still do something about this. We will be sourcing fresh chicken breast pieces to replace the not so gruesomely noxious crumbed patties and will be using the same fish used in the popular fish and chips specials to replace the lightly tempura battered fish pieces. This will miraculously

make these two items so much healthier and change them from “occasional” to “every day”. This magical transformation will take place as and when existing frozen stock of the offending ingredients runs out. With winter upon us and the cold and flu season in full swing, some tasty and medicinal delight would go well for a weekly special. This week’s special will be chicken noodle soup with tasty croutons and served with a small garlic bread. As usual the special will only be available on Thursday and Friday and at the miniscule price of $4.00 or $5.00 with a drink Feeding your children to a better education, Eddy Vardabasso, Canteen Supervisor
