Button ControlButton Control uses Joystick and/or Keyboard buttons to interface with the simulation. It is ideal for people who do not meet the requirements for VoiceControl, such as non-English speakers, or people who simply prefer not to talk to their computers.

General Requirements

To use a 'Button Control' version of FS2Crew, you need to meet the following requirements:

Minimums:

Microsoft Flight Simulator (FSX or FS9 depending on the version of FS2Crew).

A legal copy of the associated host aircraft. Unless your FS2Crew is for a 'default' aircraft that ships with FSX or FS9 out-of-the-box, FS2Crew doesnot include the 3rd party host aircraft. FS2Crew is a 'stand-alone' program that functions with your existing aircraft. The third party host aircraft areavailable via the links below:

Required Aircraft: PMDG 737 NGX.

Available from PMDG at: www.precisionmanuals.com.

Software Version: Service Pack 1C or later.

Recommended:

Windows 7 - 64.

Notes:

1. Windows 7 64 handles memory much better than XP. If you're still using XP or Vista, FS2Crew recommends upgrading to Windows 7 64.

2. The host aircraft should have all the latest updates installed and should be in good working order before installing FS2Crew.

Quick Start GuideThe following guides offer a very brief overview of how to to start using the software.

1. Ensure you have SP1c installed. SP1c is ONLY available in the PMDG Support Forum at Avsim. If in doubt, re-install it. SP1b is NOT sufficient. If SP1cor later is not installed, FS2Crew will not function properly!

2. Go to Windows Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound -> Communications. Select "Do Nothing" when Windows detectscommunication activity and click apply.

3. Open the FS2Crew PMDG 737 Configuration Manager and press the "Enable FS2Crew Button Control" button. (Important: Ensure UAC isdisabled and run the Config Manager as an Admin).

4. Assign keyboard and joystick assignments for the Main and Secondary Buttons.

5. Ensure your NGX loads by default into the 2D Cockpit, and not the VC.

6. Ensure the default aircraft loaded by FSX is NOT the NGX or any other 3rd party aircraft, but rather the Trike. (This is also a PMDG recommendedprocedure).

7. Learn how to open the FS2Crew Main Panel.

8. Read how the in-simulation FS2Crew Main and Configuration panels operate.

9. Print out the Flows manual. The Flows are the heart of the simulation. Everything in the simulation revolves around the Flows.

10. Ensure the PMDG 737 NGX's built in FO callouts are disabled.

11. If you have any problems, check the Troubleshooting section.

Main Button

To create your "Main Button" assignment, create a joystick or keyboard button assignment for 'ALTERNATE STATIC SOURCE (ON/OFF)' in theFSX 'SETTINGS - CONTROLS' menu.

You can select any Joystick or Keyboard assignment (or both).

IMPORTANT: FS2Crew cannot use the same key assignment also used by a PMDG 737 NGX Key Command function, or theMain Button will not work!

So, for example, if you use "C" as your keyboard assignment for the FS2Crew Main Button, you cannot use "C" for anyPMDG 737 NGX KEY ASSIGNMENTS!

To create your "Secondary Button" assignment, create a joystick or keyboard button assignment for 'PROPELLER SYNC (ON/OFF)' in the FSX'SETTINGS - CONTROLS' menu.

You can select any Joystick or Keyboard assignment (or both).

IMPORTANT: FS2Crew cannot use the same key assignment also used with any PMDG 737 NGX Key Command function, orthe Secondary Button will not work!

So, for example, if you use "C" as your keyboard assignment for the Secondary Button, you cannot use "C" for any PMDG737 NGX KEY ASSIGNMENTS.

The NGX needs to load by default into the 2D cockpit, never the VC or Spot View.

This is to ensure the aircraft initializes properly.

After the 2D cockpit loads, you can switch to the VC view if desired.

To ensure that no duplicate V1, VR and V2 calls are heard, please set the "F/O CALLOUT"' options below to 'NO" via the "SIMULATION" menu in the PMDG 737NGX's FMC.

Please ensure that the F/O's altimeter syncs to the Captain's altimeter as shown below.

SYNC CAPT AND F/O BAR TO 'YES'.

SYNC CAPT AND STBY BARO TO 'NO'.

Note: the other options, such as Service-Based failures, can be set at your discretion.

Troubleshooting

FS2Crew has years of experience developing flight simulation products. The following solutions can be used to solve problems you may experience.

Problem: I'm getting a Crash to Desktop (CTD) when I load the host Aircraft, and the the error message refers to 'FS2AUDIO.DLL'.

Solutions:

1. If you have two sound cards running in parallel, disable one of them.

2. If you are running any program in the background that that attempt to strip Digital Music Rights (DRM) from music, such as Tune Bite, Sound Taxi orSound Bite, please disable them. They interfere with FS2Crew's Audio Engine. Some of these types of programs are legal in parts of Europe, butthey are not legal in the United Sates.

3. Re-install FS2Crew again, but do not click 'cancel' during the install. Wait for the install to finish.

4. If using a Creative Labs X-Fi Extreme Audio Sound Card, uninstall the latest driver and re-install the original driver off the CD that came withyour Sound Card. The latest driver conflicts with the FS2Crew Audio engine.

5. Sometimes users have corrupt versions of the FSX.CFG file. Delete the FSX.CFG file. It will re-build automatically when you load FSX. Your FSX.CFGfile is located here:

Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX

Windows Vista/ 7: \Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

Problem: When using the FS Video Marshaller, my computer crashes.

Solution:

1. You must be in 'Windowed'', not 'Full-Screen' mode when using the Video Marshaller. You can switch between video screen modes by pressing ALTENTER on your keyboard. Only attempt to open the FS Video Marshaller panel via the FS2Crew Main Panel if you are in Windowed Mode.

Problem: During flight, I get random crashes.

Solution:

1. Random crashes can be attributable to numerous different sources and can be very complex to troubleshoot. They are often connected to bad videoand audio drivers. Also, certain 3rd party scenery or AI traffic in Flight Simulator can be faulty and eat up huge amounts of memory. If you get arandom crash, you should try flying in an area that does not use 3rd party scenery or AI traffic. Certain 3rd party scenery add-ons are infamous forcausing problems. FS2Crew adds very little overhead to the simulation in terms of memory usage. FS2Crew is not a heavy graphic program, andheavy graphics are what eat up the largest amounts of memory. If you're experiencing random crashes, you may want to adjust your FSX displaysliders to the left as you may be hitting FSX's 4 GB internal memory limit. You may simply be pushing your system too hard. You may also want toconsider deleting your FSX.CFG file as it may be corrupt.

2. Upgrading to Windows 7 - 64 bits (or later) is highly recommended. Windows 7 handles memory much better than XP or Vista.

Problem: I'm experiencing a frame rate drop.

Solution:

1. Ensure your speech recognition language is set up properly. If it's not, your system will grind to a halt.

2. Double check your Sound Card settings. One beta tester cranked his sound card's settings up to 24 bit (192,000) and had some frame rate loss. Whenhe returned his sound card settings to their default settings - 16 bit (44,000) - his frame rates returned to normal.

Problem: The FO is acting strange. For example, the beacon was on, yet during the checklist he said "Are you sure"? during the beacon challenge.

Solution:

1. You need to ensure you have installed SP1C or later. SP1B is not sufficient. SP1C is currently available via the PMDG Support Forum only. Re-installit if in doubt.

2. Ensure that the TRIKE is the default aircraft loaded by FSX. NEVER HAVE THE NGX OR ANOTHER 3RD PARTY AS YOUR DEFAULT AIRCRAFT.

3. You need to ensure that the NGX loads by default into the 2D cockpit, never the VC, via the FSX setting shown below here:

Problem: I cannot open the FS2Crew Main Panel via the clickspot in the Virtual Cockpit.

Solution:

1. If you have extra, non-FS2Crew, 3rd party panel windows installed on the NGX's panel.cfg file from other addons, you may be bumping into a panellimit. The solution is to use the available MAIN PANEL JOYSTICK/KEYBOARD ASSIGNMENT to open the Main Panel.

Problem: The text in the FS2Crew Panel windows seems much too large.

Solution:

1. Reset your Windows Font size to the default setting: 100 percent.

Problem: When I switch the VC panel, the FS2Crew volume drops.

Solution:

1. This is an an FSX issue. You can reset the FS2Crew volume by re-opening the FS2Crew Main Panel while in the VC.

Problem: While using multi-player, I'm getting kicked for 'event flooding'. I'm also getting stuttering while using the Aivlasoft EFB.

Solution:

1. There is a bug in the PMDG 737 NGX asociated with the FO's VSD display. The FO's VSD triggers 'event flooding' when it's turned on. The solution is todisable the FO's VSD via the PMDG options menu.

2. You can also stop FS2Crew from turning on the VSD by opening this file located in App Data with Notepad:

Users\----- YOUR USER NAME HERE ------\AppData\Roaming\FS2Crew2010\Versions\PMDG737NGX\SavedData\FS2CrewData.ini

Change: DisableVSD = 0 to DisableVSD =1

Problem: As per the instructions, I assigned a key command for the Main and Secondary buttons and toggling the Main Panel in the FSX “SETTINGS –CONTROL” menu, but they do not work. I press the assigned keyboard button and nothing happens.

Solution:

1. You have a matching keyboard assignment in the PMDG FMC’s 'KEY COMMANDS' section that is conflicting. Create different keyboard assignments. Or delete the PMDG keyboard assignment. FS2Crew and the PMDG NGX cannot share the same keyboard assignments. For example, if 'X' is used as akeyboard assignment in the PMDG KEY COMMANDS menu, you cannot use 'X' as a FS2Crew key assignment.

Problem: I clicked the Standby Attitude Indicator gauge area to open the FS2Crew Main Panel , but the Main Panel did not open.

Solution:

1. Run the FS2Crew PMDG 737 NGX Configuration Manager and ensure you pressed 'Enable FS2Crew'. That will result in the FS2Crew Windows andGauges being dynamically added to your PMDG 737 NGX Panel.CFG file.

Problem: The FO's volume is jumpy.

Solution:

1. Go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound -> Communications. Select "Do Nothing" when Windows detectscommunications activity and click apply.

Problem: A different FO's voice announces V1, VR and V2. So I have duplicate calls.

Solution:

1. Disable the V1, VR and V2 callouts that are available with the NGX via the 'Simulation' options menu in the PMDG NGX's FMC.

The FS2Crew PMDG 737 NGX Configuration Manager performs many important functions. You will need to run the Configuration Manager at least onceto 'enable' FS2Crew.

To open the Configuration Manager, please click the icon on your desktop as shown below:

You may also open the Configuration Manager via the Start Menu:

Configuration Manager General Features:

The Configuration Manager is very simple, but certain features need to be highlighted.

When you first start the Configuration Manager, the Configuration Manager will perform a self test.

It will check for any available updates as well as check to ensure that FSX and the PMDG NGX are installed properly.

If a FSX Registry problem is detected, you can fix it by using the Tweak FS Utility or by using the Flight1 Registry Repair Tool.

Enable FS2Crew Button Control:

Click to add the FS2Crew window and gauge entries to the PMDG 737 NGX's Panel.CFG file.

Unlike previous versions of FS2Crew that simply swapped the entire Panel.CFG file with a FS2Crew modified version, this Config Manager adds therequired FS2Crew Gauge and Window entries dynamically. This way any custom edits you may to your Panel.CFG will remain intact.

The Config Manager will make a backup of your original Panel.CFG file.

You can remove FS2Crew from your PMDG 737's Panel.CFG file by clicking 'Disable FS2Crew Button Control'.

If you uninstall FS2Crew, your Panel.CFG will be automatically restored to its pre-FS2Crew condition.

You can open your PMDG 737 NGX's Panel.CFG manually using Notepad. The Panel.CFG is located here:

Opening and Closing the Main Panel

To open and close the FS2Crew Main Panel in either the 2D or Virtual (VC) cockpit, left click in the center of the Standby Instrument Panel section as shownbelow.

1. The appearance of this panel area depends on if your PMDG 737 NGX 'Standby Instruments' airline equipment option is set to 'ISFD' or 'Analog'.

Troubleshooting:

1. If you click this area, and the FS2Crew Main Panel does not open, it means that the FS2Crew window and gauge entries were not added to the PMDG737's Panel.CFG file. You probably forgot to click 'Enable FS2Crew' via the FS2Crew 737 NGX Configuration Manager . You can manually check ifFS2Crew was added to your PMDG 737 Panel.CFG file by opening the Panel.CFG file with Notepad.

The PMDG 737 NGX Panel.CFG file is located here:

Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\PMDG 737-800NGX\panel\panel.cfg

Special Tip:

You can also assign a Keyboard or Joystick button to open and close the Main Panel.

To create your "Toggle Main Panel" assignment, create a joystick or keyboard button assignment for 'AUTOFEATHER (ARM/OFF)' in the FSX'SETTINGS - CONTROLS' menu

You can select any Joystick or Keyboard assignment (or both).

IMPORTANT: Your PMDG 737 NGX cannot be the same key assignment used by any existing PMDG 737 NGX Key Commandfunction, or the Main Button will not work!

So, for example, if you use "C" as your keyboard assignment for the Main Button, you cannot use "C" for any PMDG 737NGX KEY ASSIGNMENTS.

Main Panel Overview

Note: The Main Panel will appear in the top left corner of your monitor. If it is partially obstructed by the FS menu, hold down your ALT key to hide the FSmenu.

SK:

Used to quickly skip or advance between different major points (such as different Checklist sections) in the Checklist/Commands list.

LEFT DISPLAY:

Main Button Display. Displays the next checklist item or command that will be actioned when the Main Button is pressed.

Yellow text: Checklist Item. White text: Command item (example: Gear Down).

RIGHT DISPLAY:

Secondary Button Display. Displays the next command that will be actioned when the Secondary Button is pressed.

When the Pre-Flight events time to departure counter is running, the time to engine start/departure will be displayed as a numeric value in yellow (T +XX). Left click this value directly to fast forward the time down to engine start in one minute increments.

T+ / P / WAIT:

Appears on the Main Display when the Pre-Flight event counter is running. Left click directly on the number itself to fast forward the time down toengine start.

Note: You cannot fast forward the time down while the FO is performing his cockpit setup flows. When the FO is performing his cockpit setup flows,'T+' will be replaced by 'WAIT'.

'Right Clicking' directly on the number will pause the countdown timer, and 'T+' will be replaced by a 'P'.

UP / DOWN ARROWS:

Cycles Checklist/Action Mode forwards and backwards.

Modes will normally automatically auto-cycle to the next selection for you.

HS:

Routes most First Officer audio through your headset.

Ensure the audio device associated with your headset is selected in the Headset display in the Configuration panel. First Officer audio that is notrouted through the headset includes situations in which the FO would not be wearing his headset during the pre-flight events.

Numbers 1 - 7 Beneath Buttons (Panel Switcher)

Functions as a 'Panel View' Switcher. For example, instead of pressing 'A' to cycle to different Virtual Cockpit Views, you can skip directly to yourdesired camera.

'Right Click' the associated button to open the associated VC view.

Important: You will need to manually edit the Aircraft.CFG file for each model. Click here for instructions.

BR:

Press to open the Briefing Panel.

FA:

Press to call the Flight Attendant 'FA'.

PA:

Press to pen the Public Address page panel.

VM:

Press to Open the FS Video Marshaller Panel.

IF USING FSX, YOU MUST BE IN WINDOWED MODE OR YOU MAY GET A CRASH IF YOU ATTEMPT TO RUN THE VIDEO!!! Press ALT - ENTER to cyclevideo modes.

CFG:

Opens FS2Crew Configuration Panel.

LK:

Click to 'LOCK' the Main and CFG Panels (to force them to remain open even when FS automatically attempts to close them when you change views). Note that when the panels are “Locked”, an ‘=’ symbol will appear in the lower left hand section of the main display area.

LT:

Toggles night lighting on/off.

VOL:

Use the left/right mouse button to adjust the volume of the FO.

CAB:

Use the left/right mouse button to adjust the volume of the FA Cabin Announcements.

PWR:

Toggles on/off the power.

RIGHT SCREW:

Left click to the close the Main Panel.

Panel View SwitcherThe Panel View Switcher function is used to quickly skip to pre-defined Camera Views used by the PMDG 737 NGX.

To configure the Panel View Switcher, please follow the following steps:

1. Locate the Aircraft.CFG file for your desired PMDG 737 NGX model(s).

2. Note that each PMDG 737 NGX model will have its own model folder and its own individual Aircraft.CFG file.

The PMDG 737 NGX models are located in this folder:

Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes

3. To be safe, make a backup copy of any Aircraft.CFGs you wish to edit.

4. Open the Aircraft.CFG file for each model with Notepad.

5. Scroll down and locate the sections with [CameraDefinition] in the header, for example:

[CameraDefinition.001]

6. Note that there are may different camera definitions, one for each possible camera view. Each Camera Definition section has as 'Title' entry, so you knowwhat Camera goes with which Definition.

7. Add the following entry to the bottom of each Camera Definition section, right below 'ClipMode=Minimum".

HotKeySelect=X

Important:

X = The button on the FS2Crew Main Panel to which you want connect to the associated Camera Definition.

Example 1:

If you want to connect Button #5 on the FS2Crew Main Panel to the "Left Overwing" Camera, you would add the following line tothe CameraDefinition.001 section:

HotKeySelect=5

Example 2:

If you want to connect Button #3 on the FS2Crew Main Panel to the "F/O Seat" Camera, you would add the following line tothe CameraDefinition.010 section:

HotKeySelect=3

8. Important: You may find that some HotKey assignments will override your default FSX view assignments. If that happens, just manually delete the desiredHotKeySelect entry.

Configuration Panel Overview

To open the Config Panel, press the 'CFG' button on the FS2Crew Main Panel.

AUDIO SETUP:

HEADSET:

If using a headset, the audio device associated with the headset must be selected area.

CREW REGION:

Select the available crew region for the Flight Crew accents.

Available accents: United States, United Kingdom, Eurozone.

PRE-FLIGHT:

TIME:

Time remaining to Departure / Engine Start.

Please see the T+ / P/ WAIT section in the Main Panel Overview for additional information.

PWR SRC:

Power and Air Source to be used at the Departure or Arrival Gate. There are three options: APU only (APU), External Power with the Air Start Cart(EXT/AS) or External Power with the Air Conditioning Cart (EXT/AC).

Note that in the real-world, it would be extremely rare to use the Air Conditioning Cart and Air Start Cart at the same time.

The FO will bring the selected power source on-line automatically during his initial setup.

If using External Power, you are responsible for manually starting the APU if required for engine start.

You are responsible for disconnecting external power.

RUN PF:

Starts the Pre-Flight Events routine.

Running the Pre-Flight Events is OPTIONAL. You do not need to run it for every flight. You can skip it if desired.

Prior to pressing 'Run-PF, ensure you have loaded either the NGX CLDDRK, NGX LONG or NGX SHORT panel states from the PMDG 737's FMC's"LOAD PANEL STATE MENU".

AES:

If using AES, select 'Yes'. If 'Yes' selected, FS2Crew not control either the doors or the air bridge. Special Note: If using GSX, also select AES to 'Yes'

since GSX and AES are very similar.

DOORS:

If you want FS2Crew to control the external doors, select 'Yes'.

GATE DEP:

If departing from a Gate, select 'Yes', otherwise select 'No'. If 'No' is selected, FS2Crew will automatically deploy the air stairs.

GATE ARR:

If arriving at a Gate, select 'Yes', otherwise select 'No.' If 'No' is selected, FS2Crew will automatically deploy the air stairs.

ASDE-X:

If you want the FO to leave the Transponder on during taxi at airports that use ASDE-X to monitor ground traffic, select 'Yes'.

START-CREW:

PB REQ:

Pushback Required (Yes or No).

DIST:

Pushback Distance (Feet or Meters).

Units of measurement (Feet or Meters) are connected to the 'Weight Units' option in the PMDG 'Displays' menu, which is accessible via the PMDG FMC. KGS displays Meters. Pounds displays Feet.

It's recommended that you use the default distance value.

TAIL:

Left, Right or Straight.

ANGLE:

Final Pushback Tail Angle in degrees (0 to 90).

Notes:

1. You must setup the Briefing Panel for each flight, as many of the selections, such as those for 'Flaps', are used by the FO to determine his actions.

2. Click the top right hand screw to close the Briefing Page.

3. The Briefing Page can be opened by pressing the BR button on the Main Panel.

4. 'D-Height' stands for Decision Height. It's the altitude at which the FO will make the "Minimums" call during an approach. 'BARO' is used for approaches thatreference the barometric altimeter, such as a CAT I ILS approach. 'RADIO' is used for approaches that references the Radio Altimeter, such as CAT II or IIIapproaches. Whether BARO or RADIO is displayed depends on your MINS selector position on the Capt's EFIS Panel.

5. Two kinds of ILS Approaches are available, depending on your aircraft's available equipment: FAIL PASSIVE (FAIL PASS) and FAIL OPERATIONAL(FAIL OP).

6. Playing the Approach Briefing is the trigger for the FO to start his Descent flow, which will start approximately 30 seconds after the brief has finishedplaying.

7. For 'D-Height', you can also 'right click' the arrows to increment the Decision Height value in increments of 10 to save time.

Tip: To increment D-Height in increments of 100 feet, left/right click the black display area that contains the D-Height Value.

Do-and-Read: In this case, the crew members perform a series of sections, and then back-up their actions up with the checklist to ensure nothing wasmissed.

Read-and-Do: The crew member reads the specific checklist item and then manually performs the associated action.

Silent: The crew member performs an associated flow, and then reads the checklist silently to ensure no items are missed. The After Landing and AfterTakeoff Checklists are often read silently.

Multi-crew flying is like a highly choreographed role-play, and the pilots are the actors.

'Flows' refer to the specific sequence of actions each crew member performs during certain stages of the flight. It's like an actor's script.

For example, when entering the runway, the crew would perform their 'Before Takeoff Flows': the First Officer would perform a series of actions in a presetorder, as would the Captain.

In the simulation, each flow has a defined 'trigger point'. In order for the virtual First Officer to start his 'flow' in the simulation, the trigger point must be hit.

Please note that, unless otherwise specified, in FS2Crew:

The end-user in FS2Crew is the Captain and the Pilot Flying.

The virtual First Officer is the Pilot Not Flying.

Captain / Pilot Flying Flows

Pre-Flight

1. Optional: Run the Pre­Flight events by pressing ‘RUN PF’ on the FS2Crew Config Panel. Note: If you run the Pre-Flight events routine, you must loadthe either the COLD AND DARK, SHORT OR LONG panel states prior to pressing RUN PF. These panel states are available via the PMDG 737's LOADPANEL STATE MENU.

2. Setup cockpit lighting as required.

3. IRS's to Nav.

4. Perform stall warning test (Note: The stall warning test requires that the AC transfer busses are powered for up to 4 minutes).

5. Parking brake set.

6. CDU Preflight Procedure: Setup Nav Data, Route Page, Performance Data, Takeoff Ref Page.

7. Do not forget to enter the Transition Altitude on the FMC ‘PERF INIT’ page; the FO uses this altitude as the trigger to call “Transition Altitude”.LightsTest (Master Lights Test and DIM).

8. Master light test.

9. Setup EFIS Control Panel as required.

10. Flight Director Switch on.

11. Oxygen test and set.

12. Clock set.

13. Nose wheel steering switch guard closed.

14. Display select panel set (Main and Lower DU's to Norm).

15. Verify Takeoff Config Light and Cabin Altitude Light extinguished.

16. Disengage Lights Test perform.

17. Do the Initial Data and Navigation Data steps from the CDU Preflight procedure.

18. Flight instruments check (after IRS alignment is complete).

19. Standby horizon check.

20. Gyro caging control - pull, then release

21. Standby altimeter set.

22. Set altimeter.

23. Standby RMI - select either VOR or ADF.

24. Confirm speedbrake is in the down detent.

25. Radio tuning panel set.

26. VHF comm radio set.

27. VHF nav radios set for departure.

29. Call “PRE-FLIGHT CHECKLIST” after the FO has completed his own Pre­Flight procedures.

30. When ready, open the Departure Briefing Panel and perform the Departure Brief.

Before Start

1. Call “BEFORE START PROCEDURE” just prior to pushback and after the doors have been closed.

2. As the Pilot Flying, select the TAKEOFF REF page on the CDU.

3. Check N1 and Speed bugs are correct.

4. Arm the autothrottle.

5. On the MCP, set IAS to V2.

6. ON the MCP, set initial heading and altitude.

7. Arm LNAV/VNAV as needed.

8. Complete the Taxi and Takeoff briefing.

9. Confirm flight deck windows closed and locked.

10. Set Trim for takeoff and verify trim is in the green band.

11. Ensure rudder and aileron trim both at 0 units.

12. Call “BEFORE START CHECKLIST” and complete the checklist.

13. Contact the Start Crew for pushback /engine start.

14. At first movement or just prior to engine start, announce via the PA: “CABIN CREW ARM SLIDES”. (Note there is no response in the simulation to thiscall).

Engine Start (NO EXTERNAL AIR USED)

1. Call “START ENGINE 2”.

2. Verify the N2 RPM increases.

3. When N1 rotation is seen and N2 is at 25% (or at maximum motoring and a minimum of 20% N2), select fuel lever #2 to run (IDLE DETENT).*

4. Monitor N1, N2, EGT, fuel flow and oil pressure for normal indications.

5. When the engine is stable, start the other engine.

6. Call “START ENGINE 1”.

7. At approx 20 percent N2, select fuel lever #1 to run (idle detent).

* 'Maximum Motoring' occurs when N2 acceleration is less than 1% in approximately 5 seconds.

Engine Start (EXTERNAL AIR USED)

1. Same procedure as above, BUT you will start the left engine (Engine #1) first. Click here for more info.

Before Taxi

1. Call “FLAPS____” as needed for takeoff (Unless Icing Conditions).

2. Check flight controls with slow and deliberate movements.

3. Call “BEFORE TAXI CHECKLIST”.

4. Turn on Taxi Light.

Before Takeoff

1. Call “BEFORE TAKEOFF CHECKLIST” after FO informs you that the cabin is secure for takeoff.

2. Set weather radar/terrain display as needed.

Takeoff

1. Call “RUNWAY ENTRY PROCEDURE” when cleared on to the runway.

2. Verify that the runway and runway entry point are correct.

3. Verify that the airplane heading and the runway heading match up.

4. Call “TAKEOFF” when starting the takeoff roll.

5. Advance throttles to approx 40% N1. Let the engines stabilize. Then set takeoff power (press TOGA switch).

6. Verify that the correct takeoff thrust is set.

7. Maintain light forward pressure on the control column.

8. When the PNF calls 80 knots, call "CHECK".

9. At VR, rotate toward 15 degrees pitch attitude.

10. After liftoff, follow the Flight Director commands.

Climb

1. Call “GEAR UP” after PNF announces “POSITIVE RATE”.

2. 400 feet: Call roll mode: “SELECT HEADING SELECT” or “SELECT LNAV”.

3. Call “CLIMB THRUST” depending on your NADP profile (this is a verification call only).

4. Call “SET FLAPS UP SPEED” or “SELECT LEVEL CHANGE” as required.

5. Call “FLAPS___” to retract the flaps on schedule.

6. After flap retraction is complete, call for "SELECT VNAV".

7. Engage autopilot: Call “SELECT COMMAND A”.

8. Call “AFTER TAKEOFF CHECKLIST”.

9. At the Transition Altitude, set and crosscheck the altimeters to standard pressure.

Prior to Top of Descent

1. Select FMC approach procedure.

2. Set the Transition Level in the FMC 'DES FORECASTS' Page. (FS2Crew uses value this for the Transition Level call).

3. For RNAV (RNP) approaches, inhibit other navaids as needed per NOTAM.

4. Note that engine out fail operational approaches to autoland available with flaps 30 only (performance permitting).

5. Verify/set RNP as appropriate for the procedure.

6. Set the RADIO/BARO minimums as need for the approach.

7. Make your selections on the FS2Crew Approach Briefing Page. Do not forget to enter Decision Height / Decision Altitude.

8. Play the Approach Briefing.

9. Verify VREF on the FMC 'APPROACH REF' Page. (You will need to manually add any wind additive to VREF).

10. Set or verify the navigation radios and course for the approach.

11. Set QNH in the Standby Altimeter.

12. Call “DESCENT CHECKLIST” after the FO has completed his descent flow.

Notes:

If shooting a CAT II or CATIII Monitored ILS approach, you must set the DH selector to RADIO and select a RadioAltimeter value (i.e., 100 feet, 50 feet, etc).

If shooting a non-Monitored Approach (ILS, VOR, NDB, RNAV), then you must set the DH selector to BARO, and selectthe Barometric Decision Altitude as found on your approach chart.

If shooting a normal CAT 1 ILS approach, the barometric Decision Altitude is usually 200 feet above the runwayelevation. So, for example, if the runway elevation is 110 feet, the Decision Altitude (BARO) is probably about 310feet.

Approach

**When cleared below the Transition Level set your Altimeter Preset to the local QNH. Please check the PMDG manual for info on how to 'preset' the altimeter**

1. At the Transition Level, set and crosscheck the altimeters.

2. Update the arrival and approach procedures as needed.

3. Update RNP as needed.

4. Call “APPROACH CHECKLIST” at 10,000 feet or the Transition Level, whichever is lower.

Note:

For airplanes with NPS, the flight crew may enter 125 feet for vertical RNP. While there are no vertical RNP values published on theapproach chart, the use of 125 feet will cause the NPS amber deviation exceedance alert to occur at 75 feet or slightly less deviation,since vertical ANP will be at least 50 feet at all times.

Landing

1. Call “FLAPS___” as required to bring the flaps down on schedule.

2. When on localizer intercept heading, verify that the ILS is tuned and identified and that the LOC and G/S pointers are shown.

3. Use HDG SEL to intercept the localizer.

4. Verify localizer captured.

5. Arm APP mode.

6. Engage both autopilots if making an autoland.

7. At glide slope alive, call “GEAR DOWN” and “FLAPS 15”.

8. Arm the speed brake lever.

9. Call “LANDING CHECKLIST”.

10. The FO will run the checklist but will hold the checklist at the landing flap challenge.

11. Call for the final landing flaps. The FO will then complete the 'landing checklist'.

12. After calling for the final landing flap, set the missed approach altitude in the MCP.

13. When cleared for landing, call “CLEARED”.

14. At minimums call “LANDING” or “GOING AROUND”.

Landing (Using VNAV)

1. Call “FLAPS___” as required to bring the flaps down on schedule.

2. Recommended Roll Modes: RNAV or GPS, use LNAV.

3. Recommended Roll Modes: LOC-BC, VOR or NDB, use LNAV.

4. Recommended Roll Modes: LOC, SDF or LDA, use LNAV or VOR/LOC.

5. For a LOC, LOC-BC, SDF or LDA Approach: On intercept heading to final, verify the localizer is tuned and identified and that the LOC point is shown.

6. Select LNAV or arm VOR/LOC mode.

7. Using LNAV or HDG SEL to intercept the final approach course.

8. Verify LNAV engaged or that VOR/LOC is captured.

9. Approximately 2 NM before the Final Approach Fix (FAF) and after ALT HOLD or VNAV PATH or VNAV ALT is annunciated: Verify the autopilot isengaged, set DA(H) or MDA(H) on the MCP, select or verify speed intervention, select or verify VNAV.

10. Approaching the glide slope, call “GEAR DOWN” and “FLAPS 15”.

11. Arm the speed brake lever.

12. Call “LANDING CHECKLIST”.

13. The FO will run the checklist but will hold the checklist at the landing flap challenge.

14. Call for the final landing flaps. The FO will then complete the 'landing checklist'.

15. At the Final Approach Fix, verify the crossing altitude and crosscheck the altimeters.

16. When cleared for landing, call “CLEARED”.

17. At minimums call “LANDING” or “GOING AROUND”.

After Landing

1. Call “OKAY TO CLEAN UP” to trigger the FO to start his After Landing flow.

2. If the taxiway is contaminated with snow or slush, set the stab trim full nose down (0 – 2 Units) to prevent melting ice/slush from getting into thebalance bays.

Pre-Shutdown

1. When at the gate, set the parking brake.

Shutdown

1. After FO calls: “READY FOR SHUTDOWN”, set engine start levers to cut-off. (If using the GPU at the arrival gate, shut down engine #2 first, connectthe GPU, and then shutdown engine #1). Click here for more information.

2. The FA will call the cockpit. You will hear a ‘chime’ sound and the FA button on the FS2Crew Main Panel will say ‘On’. Press the FA button on theFS2Crew Main Panel to reply to the FA (THIS PART IS EASY TO MISS!).

3. Release the parking brake once the chocks are in.

4. After the slides have been reported disarmed, announce via PA: “CABIN CREW – DOORS MAY BE OPENED”.

5. Call “SHUTDOWN CHECKLIST”.

Secure

1. Call “SECURE THE AIRCRAFT PLEASE” if you will be leaving the aircraft unattended.

2. CAB/UTIL, IFE Galley Power as required.

3. Trim air switch off.

4. After FO completes the Securing Aircraft procedure, turn off the APU and/or Ground Power Switch.

5. If APU was operating, wait two minutes after the APU GEN OFF BUS light extinguishes before placing the Battery Switch to Off.

6. Select the GND Power switch to off if it was on.

7. Select position lights off.

Note: If cold weather procedures were selected, the FO will perform a ‘flaps movement check’ by extending the flaps to 40 before bringingthem back up. When using cold weather procedures, you will taxi with the flaps up.

Taxi

Trigger -> A few seconds after the FO announces that the cabin is secure for takeoff.

1. Weather Radar on (not modeled in NGX).

Before Takeoff

Trigger ­> Captain announces takeoff clearance has been received with the command: “RUNWAY ENTRY PROCEDURE”.

1. Strobes on.

2. Fixed Landing Lights on.

3. Runway Turnoff Lights on.

4. Taxi Lights off.

5. Center Fuel Pumps off (only if center fuel less than 2300 Kgs).

6. Terrain on (left off to avoid possible performance issues).

After Takeoff

Trigger -> Flaps up.

3. Engine Start Switches to Cont and Runway Turnoff lights on (tied to gear down call and only if ‘auto’ not avail for the Start Sw’s).

4. If Flap 15 used for landing, set Ground Proximity inhibit switch to 'Flap Inhibit'.

5. Retractable Landing lights on when Capt announces "CLEARED" for landing.

After Landing

Trigger ­> Captain announces “OKAY TO CLEAN UP” or speed brake stowed.

Once the GPU and External Air have been connected, you can shut downengine #1 (the left engine).

Pre Shutdown

Trigger -> Parking Brake Set.

2. Confirm APU GEN on voltmeter (if using APU).

3. APU Generator (if using APU).

Shutdown

Trigger -> Captain selects Engine Fuel Levers to Cut-Off.

Using External Air / Power

If External Power/Air has been selected as the power source for Pre-Flight, FS2Crew will automatically connect External Power and Air after you start the PreFlight Events sequence.

Note: You can also connect External Power and air by using the FS Video Marshaller program.

Note: If want to use the APU for engine start, you will need to manually start the APU prior to Engine start and turn on the APU Bleed before commencing theengine start sequence. You will also need to confirm on the FS2Crew Config Panel that the Ground Power/Air option has automatically updated to ‘APU’ (the APUbleed switch is the trigger for this to occur. Time remaining to engine start must also be less than 25 minutes). If it remains on EXT, the FS2Crew FO will thinkyou’re still using External Power/Air and perform his actions accordingly.

Note: When using External Power/Air for engine start, you start the left engine (Engine #1) first.

Note: Do not try to start the engines using the Air Conditioning Cart (AC). You can only use the Air Start Cart (AS) for engine start!

Note: When using External Power/Air for start with Pushback required, you have two options:

Option #1: Start Both Engines at the Gate Prior to Pushback:

1. In the ‘PB REQ’ box select the <-- option as shown in the figure below.

2. The <-- indicates that you will start both engines prior to pushback.

3. Ensure parking brake is set.

4. Instruct the FO to start engine number #1.

5. After starting engine #1 (the left engine), manually connect the left engine generator to the bus and switch the Ground Power Switchon the overhead to ‘off’.

6. Next, instruct the ground crew to disconnect external air and the GPU by pressing the Secondary Button. Be sure to do this AFTERyou have connected Engine Generator 1 to the bus or you will lose power.

7. Ensure the parking brake if it's not already set, otherwise the aircraft may start to taxi when you advance the left throttle as per Step8.

8. The ground crew will clear you to start engine #2 when he informs you that the external air and power have been removed.

9. Important: Prior to asking the FO to start engine #2, you must advance the left throttle until bleed duct pressure indicatesapproximately 30 PSI.

10. Follow the the prompts to complete a normal pushback sequence.

Option #2: Start Left Engine at Gate and Right Engine at end of Pushback:

1. In the ‘PB REQ’ box select the --> option as shown in the figure below.

2. The --> indicates that you will start the left engine prior to pushback and the right engine at the end of the pushback.

3. Ensure parking brake is set.

4. After starting engine #1 (the left engine), manually connect the left engine generator to the bus and switch the Ground Power Switchon the overhead to ‘off’.

5. Next, instruct the ground crew to disconnect external air and the GPU. Do this AFTER you have connected Engine Generator 1 to thebus or your will lose power.

6. Next, call for pushback.

7. Start Engine 2 when cleared by the ground crew. The ground crew will clear you to start engine #2 near the end of the pushbacksequence.

8. Important: Prior to asking the FO to start engine #2, you must advance the left throttle until bleed duct pressure indicatesapproximately 30 PSI.

Using the GPU and External Air at the ARRIVAL Gate:

Many airports do not want you use to the APU. In those cases, you need to connect the GPU at the arrival gate.To do that, please do the following:

1. Prior to landing, select EXT in the PWR/AIR SRC box as shown in the figure below, and choose the air source to be used: Air StartCart (AS) or Air Conditioning (AC).

2. During his after landing flow, the FO will NOT turn on the APU.

3. When you arrive at the gate, set the parking brake and shutdown only Engine #2 (the right engine).

4. Press the Secondary Button to ask the engineer to connect the GPU and external air (you will see CONNECT GPU/AIR in theSecondary Display Window on the FS2Crew Main Panel).

5. The engineer will then connect the GPU and External Air and the FO will select the Ground Power switch to 'On'.

6. If the Air Conditioning Cart (AC) was selected, the FO will shut off both packs.

7. The engineer will then clear you to shut down Engine #1 (the left engine).

8. After both engines have been shutdown, the FO will commence his shutdown flow.

FS2Crew models de-icing procedures. If the temperature is below 5 degrees C, you will be presented with the option to call for de-icing during the pre-flight

events routine (at approximately 14 minutes remaining to engine start).

If you do NOT want to be de-iced, simply ignore the prompt!

If you do not wish to use the de-icing services, simply ignore the prompt. You can run the de-icing procedure either at the gate (prior to engine start) or at aremote de-icing pad.

Just prior to de­icing, and if you want to de­ice at the gate, press the Secondary Button to call “DE-ICE CHECKS”. This prompt will display at approximately 1minute remaining to engine start after you have ‘thanked’ the FA when he/she tells you the cabin is ready for departure.

Note: If you plan to de-ice at a remote pad, call for the “DE­ICE CHECKS” when you arrive at the remote de­icing pad. If you plan to de-ice at the gate, runthe de-ice checks prior to starting the engines.

The FO will then perform his de-ice prep flow:

1. APU Bleed Off.

2. Bleeds Off.

As Captain, you are responsible for:

1. Setting the stab trim full nose down.

2. Ensuring the flaps are up.

3. Ensuring idle thrust.

The FO will leave the APU running if it is on. If you wish to have the APU off during de-icing, you must manually shut-it down, however, ensure the groundpower is connected or you will lose power. If you’re at a remote pad, leave the engines running. Make sure Wing Anti-Ice is off.

After the FO has completed his de­icing flow, press the Secondary button again to call “READY FOR DE-ICE” to tell the De­Ice coordinator that you’re ready tostart the de-icing.

The de-icing team will then de-ice the aircraft. This takes approximately 3 minutes.

When de-icing is complete, the De-Ice Coordinator will radio you, and provide you with his employee number, the start and end time, etc. Click the SecondaryButton again to disconnect the De-icing Coordinator.

FS2Crew for the PMDG 737 NGX models cold weather procedures. If the route to the runway is heavily contaminated, you may wish to use cold weatherprocedures. This entails taxing to the runway with the flaps up, and then selecting the takeoff flaps just prior to running the 'Before Takeoff Checklist'. Whencalling for the takeoff flaps, wait for the FO to announce that the flaps have been set for takeoff prior to asking for the Before Takeoff Checklist.

To enable cold weather procedures, select “CONTAM – CLD PROC (Y)” in the departure brief.

Note that ’Y’ stands for ‘Yes’.

If you select ‘N’ for ‘No’, the FO will not use cold weather procedures.

Notes:

1. If you wish to use cold weather procedures at the arrival airport, select ‘CONTAM – CLD PROC (Y)’ in the 'Approach Brief' section. When this option isselected, the FO will NOT raise the flaps all the way up during his 'After Landing flow'; instead, he’ll only retract them to flaps 15. Once you arrive atthe gate, the engineers would then inspect the flap tracks to ensure they are clear of snow and slush.

Important: If the flaps are left down, you will need to manually raise them after being cleared by the ground crew to do so.

You will also need to manually shut off the 'ELEC HYD PUMPS' after the flaps have been raised.

The following two Nose Abatement Procedures may be used during the initial climb sequence. These profiles were formally known as ICAO ‘A’ and ‘B’respectively.

During departure in FS2Crew, the sequence of calls as displayed in the Main and Secondary Windows will vary depending on the NADP selected on the FS2CrewDeparture Brief Panel.

Note that these profiles are only relevant for jet aircraft.

NADP 1:

- From runway to 800 feet AGL:

*Takeoff Power & Takeoff Flaps *Climb at V2 + 10 to 20 Knots

- At 800 feet AGL:

*Reduce to Climb Thrust & continue climbing at V2 + 10 to 20 Knots

- At 3000 feet AGL:

*Accelerate to Flaps Up Speed *Retract Flaps/Slats on Schedule

NADP 2:

- From runway to 800 AGL:

*Takeoff Power & Takeoff Flaps *Climb at V2 + 10 to 20 Knots

- At 800 feet AGL:

*Accelerate to Flaps Up speed *Retract Flaps/Slats on Schedule *When flaps up, maintain Flaps Up speed + 10 knots maximum

- At 3000 feet AGL:

*Accelerate to en-route climb speed

Circuits

FS2Crew for the PMDG 737 NGX models Circuits/Touch and Go’s.

To put FS2Crew into circuits mode, select ‘CIRCUIT TRAINING’ for the Approach Type. You would use this mode if you wish to make practice circuits.

Circuits are modeled on the standard Boeing circuits profile.

Notes:

1. Automation is generally not used during circuit training.

2. Takeoff MUST USE FLAPS 5.

3. Downwind will be flown at Flaps 5.

4. On touchdown, the FO will automatically raise the Flaps to 15, and you would perform a Flaps 15 takeoff.

5. VREF must be entered in the FMC.

Go Around ProceduresTo initiate a go around, press the the Secondary Button while "Missed Approach" is displayed in the Secondary Display Panel.

FS2Crew models thru-flight procedures.

You do not need to reload the aircraft to fly additional legs or sectors.

To make a thru flight, simply cycle the Left Display forward using the down arrow button to return to the ‘Pre­Flight Checklist’.

Do this after completing the ‘Shutdown’ checklist.

Do NOT run the ‘Secure’ aircraft checklist as you would only do this if it was the last flight of the day and you were handing the aircraft over to engineering.

Next, start the ‘Pre­Flight Events’ by pressing RUN PF on the FS2Crew Config panel if desired, and follow the same procedures used during the 1st leg.

Note that the FO will not perform all the same actions during his pre-flight setup flow as many of the items are only done on the first flight of the day only.
