This tour includes a van ride 115 miles up the Dalton Highway, also known as the “Haul Road” to the Arctic Circle wayside and sign. We will stop at the Trans-Alaska oil pipeline, travel along the foothills of the Brooks Range at Gobbler’s Knob and cross the mighty Yukon River over the 2,290 foot E.L. Patton Bridge. At Latitude 66 degrees, 33 minutes, you will receive a certificate stating that you have journeyed above the Arctic Circle. You may experience wildlife along the road including bears, moose, dall sheep and fox. We will provide lunch.

Rock climbing is a great mental and physical challenge that is fun. We are lucky enough to have our own indoor rock climbing wall right here on Fort Wainwright! Escape the crowded city and start flyfishing for Arctic Grayling in the Chena River State Recreation Area. A catch and release fishery the upper Chena provides excellent opportunities to hook into good size fish. Learn the basics of Alaska boating with the Boater Safety Course. The class begins in the classroom and then will move to the river for a practical hands-on portion. Stress Management 1: Introduction to signs of stress, effects, introduction to relaxation techniques.
