Who Are We?

The Fulmore Magnet Program is a free advanced academic program within the Austin Independent School District. Our program, consisting of three hundred plus Magnet students from all around the Austin area, is part of the 129 year old Fulmore tradition. Authorized by Austin ISD's school board in 2001, the Fulmore Humanities and Law Magnet for International Studies is one of Austin's best kept secrets; it is not so secret anymore. The three distinctive strands form the basis of the electives that enrich the magnet experience in law, humanities, and international studies. Concepts in English Language Arts and Social Studies are intertwined to support students in making deep connections. We also offer challenging classes including Environmental Science, Forensic Science, and Algebra I and Geometry for high school credit. Our foreign languages include Japanese, Chinese, French, Spanish and AP Spanish.

Smaller than other magnet schools or charters, Fulmore's Magnet Program offers a variety of elective choices that correspond with the three program strands and allow for individualized attention in a historic and beautiful setting.

Magnet enrollment includes 50% identified as Gifted and Talented students. We also identify our sixth grade students for the Duke Explore Program and our seventh grade students for the Duke Talent Search Program.

Fulmore offers a variety of free after school clubs and tutoring opportunities where students have the opportunity to make friends from all walks of life. Free late buses depart Fulmore at 5:30 p.m. from Monday through Friday so students are able to participate in after school activities.

¿Quiénes Somos?

El Programa Especializado (Magnet) de Fulmore es un programa acade mico avanzado gratuito dentro del Distrito Escolar Independiente de Austin.

Nuestro programa, que incluye a ma s de trescientos estudiantes de todas las regiones en el a rea de Austin, es parte de una tradicio n acade mica en Fulmore que lleva 129 an os. Autorizado por la junta escolar de Austin ISD en 2001, el programa Fulmore Magnet de Humanidades y Derecho para Estudios Internacionales es uno de los secretos mejor guardados en Austin; aunque ya no es tan secreto.

Las clases electivas se ubican dentro de las tres ramas que forman la base curricular del programa Magnet: el derecho, las humanidades y los estudios internacionales. A su vez, las clases de lenguaje ingle s y estudios sociales apoyan a los estudiantes a hacer conexiones profundas acerca del mundo que los rodea.

Tambie n ofrecemos otras clases especializadas, como Ciencias Ambientales, Ciencias Forenses, y A lgebra I, y Geometrí a con cre ditos de la preparatoria. Hay, asimismo, una variedad de idiomas que ofrecemos, como el chino, japone s, france s, espan ol, este u ltimo ofreciendo por su parte el programa Advanced Placement. (AP) espan ol.

Fulmore ofrece una variedad de clubes gratis despue s de escuela y oportunidades de tutorí a donde los estudiantes tienen la oportunidad de hacer amigos de todas las clases sociales.

Los autobuses, que son gratuitos, salen de Fulmore a las 5:30 p.m. de lunes a viernes para que los alumnos pueden participar de estas actividades.
