projects that we are involved in, we are restricted by space so please don’t be disappointed if it appears that we have not
included you - we will endeavor to be as fair as possible in the way that we include your information so if for whatever reason
you don’t make the newsletter then please visit our website and our social media page where we feature all of you wonderful

Taking the Biscuit!
Well another month has been and gone; they say ‘time flies when you’re having fun’, and the Merry Month
of May has brought us lots of that, with it’s colourful May Poles and it’s Morris Dancers, as well as fun-
filled events such as Warminster’s Spring in the Park and Leigh Park Community Centre’s Family Fun Day
in Westbury…not forgetting the very important ‘National Biscuit Day’ (29th May); Not that we at FITC Media
need a legitimate excuse for a Chocolate Digestive or three!
That leads us nicely on to someone with a little more restraint than us here at FITC HQ: Slimming World
Consultant Katherine Storey. Those of you who have been following our ‘In the Community’ Newsletter
will know that Katherine is currently supporting Busy Bees Preschool in Chapmanslade with her latest
advertising campaign; featuring within the Busy Bees Newsletter as well as on their website and their
Facebook page; motivating everyone who wants to shape up in time for Summer. FITC Media can give you
a sneaky peak at her advert…it looks fab! Katherine’s advertising not only reaches a target audience but
also contributes towards Busy Bees fundraising. Thanks Katherine! Thanks also to Ian from Chapmaslade
Motor Services and Sean from SB Home & Garden Services who collectively over three months have
contributed
£87.50 towards their fundraising for a new roof and end-of-year school trip.
Katherine will soon be adding a new venue to her repertoire. Read on for more details…

What do you do when your child asks if they can stay up ALL NIGHT?! …If its Leighton Dyer from Westbury Leigh Primary School, you make an exception! Leighton invited around 38 of his classmates to stay up all night at the Leigh Park Community Centre on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th of May to play games and enjoy fun-filled activities. The sponsored ‘Stay Awake-athon’was to celebrate his 11th Birthday and to raise funds for the charity Asthma UK. So FITC Media would like to wish Leighton a Happy be-lated Birthday and a huge WELL DONE for, well, staying awake : ) To donate to Leighton’s fundraising campaign, go to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/leightondyer We hope you’ve now caught up on some Zzzz’s
Last month FITC Media had the impossible task of choosing a school for our Feature of the Month (and
completely dipped out by putting it to the local community to decide!) The consensus was a local primary
school based in Bradford on Avon and although we caught Head Teacher, Mr Ian Rockey, at quite
possibly their busiest time of year, with radio interviews and fundraising events galore, he graciously
accepting our invitation to promote the school and tell us a little more about how hard they work to give
the children the best that they can through all of their wonderful fundraising efforts and campaigns…’
‘Pro-active’ doesn’t quite do this school justice! – see what you think…

School of the Month…
WESTWOOD WITH IFORD Primary School
Westwood with Iford Primary School is an innovative, forward thinking and dynamic village school
where celebration is at the heart of our ethos. We believe our school is a happy and purposeful place to
learn, with a strong sense of community and where children are always encouraged to aim high and
achieve their very best.
We are lucky to have a team that is committed to providing the very best opportunities for the children
who attend Westwood with Iford School. Staff, supported by governors, work hard to deliver a rich and
challenging curriculum; to prepare children for future education and to help them acquire the skills and
enthusiasm needed to pursue learning for the rest of their lives.
As a school we have always been successful in our fundraising, particularly through the efforts of our
Friends of Westwood School, a committed, active group of parents and supporters whose unwaivering
support has raised thousands of pounds in recent years. It is through their efforts and the support of the
community that we have been able to fund projects such as improving our IT provision, providing
enhanced outdoor play opportunities and supporting our school radio station, Westwood Radio. Money
raised from events such as Christmas Fairs, Quiz nights, Summer Fairs and School Discos has also
enabled us to add to our curriculum reading provision, providing cultural opportunities such as puppet
theatre and live performances, enabling the whole school to benefit from diverse and varied additions
to the curriculum.
At Westwood with Iford School we are constantly looking to develop life skills and provide our children
with as many learning opportunities as possible. With our extensive grounds, gardening area, pond and
outdoor provision, children have a well equipped site within which they can thrive. Through a Heritage
Lottery Grant we have developed the Westwood Oral History Project, allowing future generations to
learn about the village of Westwood from personal accounts of the people who live here. Also, most
recently, we are have received funding from Wiltshire Music Connect to develop an Innovation in Music
project, working on both vocal performance and composition, including collaboration with schools
overseas.
We are proud of our school and the opportunities that the fundraising we have achieved has afforded
us. For more information, please visit www.westwoodwithiford.org

Love for Louis
You’ll recall last month ‘In the Community’ introduced you to a very special young boy called Louis who was born with a rare genetic condition. Love for Louis was set up in order to raise funds for ongoing therapies to help Louis walk and talk. One avid supporter of the Love for Louis Campaign is Salisbury’s Daniel Pearson.
Daniel is running a 100km non-stop ULTRA MARATHON on The Jurassic Coast, from Poole to Bridport, on June 8th and Fundraising in the Community would like to personally wish Daniel the very best of luck. If you’re touched by Louis’ story and in the position to spare a few pounds to support this SUPERMAN who is taking on a SUPER CHALLENGE for a SUPER BOY, then we know everyone involved would be hugely grateful. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/daniel-pearson17?fb_event=b11a2a1&prompt_event=0fddad8&fbclid=IwAR2BPI7_8OESGNwmu2EQ82PiJjd2m3uH88_eBtICPVwZK9pnyxUtOmk6IqI
Daniel says: I’m hoping to raise £500 to show my support for 'Love for Louis. Louis was born in December 2014 but at only a few weeks old Lucy, his mum, noticed something wasn’t quite right. 18 months later Louis was diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic condition, Congenital Disorder of Glycosylation (CDG): PM22 1A; meaning he has physical and cognitive disabilities, including speech and language difficulties, developmental delay, failure to thrive and severe susceptibility to infection. This means Louis needs 24/7 care and it’s exhausting for Lucy to do this on her own. Her biggest challenge is the lack of NHS support and respite care which means daily activities are much harder than need be. Your donation will make such a difference and help towards on-going therapy and the purchase of essential equipment to improve Louis’ standard of living. It will also help pay for an extra pair of hands to help Lucy with overnight cover, fund special days out for Louis e.g. trips to the seaside and with your support you will be giving a little boy with big challenges the best shot at life. Thanks for your support! To find out more about Louis and to follow his incredible progress please like, follow and share his Facebook page ‘Love for Louis’ @LouisCanDoIt and the new facebook page 'Friends4Louis '
