Welcome We meet in the name of Christ who died and was raised by the glory of God the Father. Grace and mercy be with you all.

I am the resurrection and the life, says the Lord. Those who believe in me, even though they die, yet shall they live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.’ John 11. V25,26

I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor anythings else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8 v38,39

We brought nothing into this world, and we can take nothing out. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord. 1 Timothy 6 v7 & Job 1v21

‘Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’ Matthew 11. 28-30

Let us pray

Collect God of all consolation, whose Son Jesus Christ was moved to tears at the grave of Lazarus his friend; Look with compassion on us your children in our loss; give to our troubled hearts the light of hope, and strengthen in us the gift of faith in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Penitential Kyries Let us pray

As children of a loving heavenly Father, let us seek the forgiveness of God, for he is full of gentleness and compassion.Call to remembrance, O Lord, your compassion, and your loving Kindness, for they have been from of old. Lord, have mercy. Congregation: Lord, have mercy.

Remember not my sins nor my transgressions but according to your mercy think on me. Christ, have mercy. Congregation: Christ, have mercy.

O keep my life, and deliver me, put me not to shame. For I have put my trust in you. Lord, have mercy. Congregation: Lord, have mercy.

May God our Father forgive us our sins and bring us to the eternal joy of his kingdom where dust and ashes have no dominion. Amen.

Collect

Merciful Father, hear our prayers and comfort us, renew our trust in your Son, whom you raised from the dead, strengthen our faith that all who have died in the love of Christ will share in his resurrection; who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Proclaiming and Receiving the Word Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters, he restores my soul.

He leads me in right path for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley,

I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff - they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.

A Reading from the Gospel according to John, the fourteenth chapter.

‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling-places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am going.’ Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will know my Father also.

‘If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you for ever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you.

‘I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.’

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.

This is the Word of the Lord Thanks be to God

The Address : Canon Michael Parker

Intercessions & Prayers of Thanksgiving

You, Christ, are the King of glory, the eternal Son of the Father. When you took our flesh to set us free. you humbly chose the virgin's womb. You overcame the sting of death and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers. You are seated at God's right hand in glory .We believe that you will come to be our judge. Come then, Lord, and help your people, bought with the price of your own blood, and bring us with your saints. to glory everlasting.

God of mercy, Lord of Life, you have made us in your own image to reflect your truth and light: we give you thanks for Elizabeth , and for the grace and mercy she received from you for all that was good and true in her life, for the memories we treasure today. Especially we thank you for her love and compassion, her gentleness and grace. Silence

In our prayers we use this response

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We say together

Heavenly Father, in your Son Jesus Christ you have given us a true faith and a sure hope: Strengthen this faith and hope in us all our days; That we may live as those who believe in the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, and the resurrection to eternal life; through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Farewell in Christ

Our help is in the name of the Lord, Congregation: who has made heaven and earth.

God our creator and redeemer, by your power Christ conquered death and entered into glory. Confident of his victory and claiming his promises, we now leave your servant Elizabeth in your gracious keeping; in the name of Jesus our Lord, who died and is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

The Committal at Roselawn Cemetery

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1: 3

The Lord is full of compassion and mercy, slow to anger and of great kindness. As a father cares for his children, so does the Lord care for those who fear him. For he himself knows of what we are made; he remembers that we are but dust. Our days are like the grass; we flourish like a flower of the field. When the wind goes over it, it is gone, and its place shall know it no more. But the merciful goodness of the Lord endures for ever on those who fear him, and his righteousness on his children's children.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, you have given us a sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life.In your keeping are all those who have departed in Christ.

We here commit the body of our sister Elizabeth to be cremated earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust; in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who died, and was buried, and rose again for us, and who shall change our mortal body that it may be like his glorious body, according to the mighty working by which he is able to subdue all things to himself

Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. They are blessed indeed, says the Spirit, for they rest from their labours. Revelation 14: 13

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

Benediction

Lord, you will show us the path of life: in your presence is the fullness of joy and from your right hand flow delights for evermore. Psalm 16: 11

May God give to you and to all those whom you love his comfort and his peace, his light and his joy, in this world and the next; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be upon you and remain with you always. Amen.
