Supporting Children With Insecure Attachment Through Quality Interactions3 HoursCrystal Persi, Master TrainerMany children suffer various degrees of insecure attachment. Once it is identified that a child is dealing with attachment distress, care providers can make changes in their interactions with these children or their program environments to support them more effectively. What do programs actually have the time to do? Come to this session to discuss the results of the Wellness and Nutrition in Out-of-School Time Survey, conducted by OregonASK in the Spring of 2016. The session will open up to a wider conversation about what is happening to support child wellness in out-of school-time, and what steps we can take on a statewide level.HSN, Set 1

Building a K-5 Computer Science Program3 HoursCathy Law, Director, STEM Academy at Oregon State UniversityCome and explore strategies for creating a culture where anyone can learn computer science. Topics covered will be the use of the Lego WeDo platform beginning in kindergarten, Scratch, Code.org, parent engagement, teacher support, community involvement, and building a pipeline of capable and confident computer science learners. Agile and Apps in Afterschool3 HoursRandy MacDonald, Program Manager of Innovation Academy & Pete Steinfeld, MAAgile Development is a technique for enabling teams to produce high quality products that meet customer demands on a fixed schedule. This workshop uses Agile in a group-work scenario, to help instructors gain the skills to implement Agile in their programs. This workshop will explore developing apps, and give you the opportunity to begin building your own. How can you help ensure it is the right law? You’ll learn the legislative process and the strategy to help navigate the political waters. PPD Set 1
