This devotion will be one of reflection and celebration. o Take your time and slowly read Revelation 20:1121:8 and 22:117. o As we come to the close of our year of reading through the entire Bible, take time to meditate on these verses as the conclusion of all things. We have come from the first garden to the final garden, from Genesis to Revelation, and finally, God has redeemed and glorified His people. o After thousands of years, God’s people will finally see His face. Those He has brought to Himself will dwell with Him and will see Him. There will be no more pain or suffering, only the pure joy of full and clear worship of the One True God, forever and ever. The Bottom Line: The God who created all things will soon restore all things, through Christ, for the sake of His glory. Questions: Take some time to talk through the highlights of family worship over the past year. What were your favorite discussions? What has stuck with you the most? Is your family ready for the great judgment? Will your names be found in the book of life? Talk through the implications of the coming day when Jesus will restore all things. Remember His promise: “Let the one who is thirsty come. Let the one who desires take the water of life without price.” As we ponder eternity, consider this truth from CS Lewis’ “The Weight of Glory.” If we truly believe this, it will change everything about how we interact with people: “…Remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you can talk to will one day either be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare. All day long we are, in some degree, helping each other to one or the other of these destinations…There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal.” Celebrate together about what God will do in those final days. Lift praise to Him in prayer together as you worship Him for being the God who saves and makes all things new. PRAY o Read Window on the World, pg. 180181 Vietnam o Use Prayer Card SING o Use lyric sheet and mp3 download of “Revelation Song” o As we look forward to our bright and glorious future in Jesus Christ, we chose “Revelation Song” to supplement the teaching this week. At the end of all things we see that Christ is reigning supremely over all He has created. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the One who was and is and is to come. This song gives us an opportunity to join with each other and all creation to express our adoration for our sovereign and gracious King of Kings. MEMORIZE o Revelation 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!

Family  Worship  Guide  –  Week  52     READ

o As  we  take  time  to  reflect  on  the  past  year,  consider  all  the  truths  you  have  seen  in  God’s  Word.  This  devotion  will  be  one  of  reflection  and  celebration.

o Take  your  time  and  slowly  read  Revelation  20:11-‐21:8  and  22:1-‐17.  o As  we  come  to  the  close  of  our  year  of  reading  through  the  entire  Bible,  take  time  to  meditate  on  these  verses  as  the

conclusion  of  all  things.

180-‐181  Vietnam  o Use  Prayer  Card

SING  o Use  lyric  sheet  and  mp3  download  of  “Revelation  Song”  o As  we  look  forward  to  our  bright  and  glorious  future  in  Jesus  Christ,  we  chose  “Revelation  Song”  to  supplement  the

teaching  this  week.

 SUGGESTIONS

These   suggestions  were   created   by   the   age-‐group  ministry   leaders   as   a  way   to   help   parents   better   communicate   the  biblical   truths   discussed   in   the   Family   Worship   Guide.     These   activities   and   questions   can   replace   or   serve   as   a  supplement  to  the  questions  under  the  “Read”  section  on  Page  1.    Remember  that  these  suggestions  are  intended  to  help  parents  facilitate  God-‐centered  discussions  with  their  children.    Parents  should  prayerfully  use  these  suggestions,  and  any  other  means  necessary,  to  help  their  children  discover  the  truths  of  God’s  word  and  worship  Him  together.

Preschool  (Birth-‐Kindergarten)  o Before  you  begin:    Grab  a  picture  of  a  car  or  a  toy  car.  Talk  about  what  can  happen  to  cars.  All  cars  get  old  and

eventually  break  down,  and  sooner  or  later  all  cars  are  destined  for  the  junkyard  unless  someone  restores  them.    Restore  means  to  fix  or  make  new  again.

o Explain  to  your  child  that  in  some  ways  our  lives  and  all  of  creation  are  like  cars.  Just  like  all  cars  break  down,  all  people  share  a  common  problem,  and  that  problem  is  called  sin.  A  car  can't  fix  its  own  dent  or  flat  tires,  and  in  the  same  way  we  can't  fix  our  problem  of  sin.  But  there  is  good  news!  Jesus  will  restore  us.    He  can  fix  us  and  make  us  new  again.  God  who  created  all  things  will  soon  restore,  fix  and  make  all  things  new  again.    It  will  all  be  for  God’s  glory.    Let’s  pray  together  and  thank  God  for  restoring  us  and  making  all  things  new.

    Children  (Grades  1-‐5)

o Items  needed:  a  jigsaw  puzzle,  preferably  a  nature  scene  (not  too  difficult,  100  pieces  or  less)  o Look  at  the  jigsaw  puzzle  box.  It  has  a  picture  of  what  the  puzzle  is  supposed  to  look  like.  Then  you  open  the  box  and

there  is  a  jumble  of  pieces  that  don't  look  like  anything.  Think  about  when  God  created  everything,  it  was  picture  perfect.  When  Adam  and  Eve  chose  to  disobey  God  and  sin  entered  the  world,  it  was  like  the  picture  became  a  big  jumble.

o Empty  the  puzzle  pieces  out  onto  the  kitchen  table  or  counter.  Turn  each  one  of  them  face  down  so  you  can't  see  anything  except  the  cardboard  backs.  Look  at  the  box  to  see  how  the  picture  is  supposed  to  look.  Now  try  to  put  the  pieces  of  the  puzzle  together  with  only  the  cardboard  side  showing  and  without  using  your  hands.

o Is  this  working  very  well?  Of  course  it  isn't.  It  is  kind  of  frustrating  to  see  the  picture  and  know  what  the  puzzle  is  supposed  to  look  like,  but  not  be  able  to  put  the  pieces  together.  We  can't  put  the  world  back  like  it  was  before  sin  existed  no  matter  how  hard  we  try.  Only  the  Creator  can  do  that.

o Now  turn  the  puzzle  pieces  over  so  you  can  see  them.  You  and  your  parents  can  use  your  hands  to  put  the  puzzle  together.  As  you  find  each  piece  and  put  it  in  the  right  spot  think  about  how  through  Christ,  God  is  restoring  all  things  for  the  sake  of  His  glory.

o When  the  puzzle  is  finished,  how  do  you  feel?  You’re  probably  happy  and  proud  that  you  were  able  to  put  it  together.  Think  about  how  much  more  amazing  it  will  be  when  we  are  with  God  and  everything  is  restored.  We  will  live  with  him  forever  with  no  sin  or  sadness  ever  again.  Let’s  put  that  picture  solidly  in  our  minds  and  live  our  lives  every  day  knowing  that  our  final  destination  is  not  in  this  world,  nor  of  this  world.

    Students  (Grades  6-‐12)

o This  year  we  have  talked  about  Christ’s  work  from  the  beginning  of  creation  through  the  present  and  we  anticipate  His  glory  in  the  future.  Has  the  work  of  Christ  changed  your  heart?  Take  a  moment  for  each  family  member  to  share  their  story  of  God’s  redemptive  work  in  their  individual  lives.

o Ask  each  family  member  to  share  a  challenging  thought  or  experience  from  Family  Worship  in  the  last  year  that  is  particularly  memorable  to  you.

o As  the  leader  of  Family  Worship,  share  how  the  experience  of  Family  Worship  has  changed  the  way  you  see  God’s  work  around  you.  How  can  these  truths  you  have  discussed  changed  your  interaction  with  the  people  around  you,  both  here  and  globally?

o Spend  some  time  giving  thanks  to  God  for  His  great  redemptive  work  beginning  with  creation  and  continuing  through  eternity.
