Service bulletin Version: RUT2013-001-01 Date: 5 July 2013 Subject: Replacement existing DMM G2 by new DMM model RUT-02590-DA. Event: End of life current DMM RUT-00412-DA model. Cause: Components for assembling original DMM became obsolete. Tools required: Small Philips (flat) and Torx (T20x4) and (T9x60) Screwdriver.

Replacement kit containing: 1. Modified bottom plate RUT-02549.

2. 2 x white ferrules RUT-00394, spare 4 x GMI-00949

(M4x10) and Windows License key.

3. New Com1 extension cable RUT-00890.

4. New power extension cable RUT-0891.

5. 24v DC to 12c DC power converter RUT-07001.

6. New DMM

RUT-02590-AA.

Description The existing DMM model (RUT-00412-DA) has reached his end-of-life and for that reason we need to replace it with its successor RUT-02590-DA. This technical bulletin describes how to replace the existing DMM module with the new DMM. The new DMM needs 12V DC instead of 24V DC, so a power converter is required (included in the replacement kit).

Steps to be executed:

Initial steps

1. Retrieve the vdrparams.ini / vdr-cfg.txt and the vidchan1(2,3,4).ini files for the

subject vessel in order to replace when the DMM has been changed.

2. When you dont have the files in hand please be sure to ask them before your

attendance from our service department.

3. Shut off the AC breaker on board.

4. Shut off the Battery breaker inside the DPU.

Insertion of Power converter RUT-07001

1. Remove the End Terminal Terminator.

2. Insert Power converter RUT-07001 on the DIN-rail.

3. And re-insert the End Terminal Terminator.

Modification power cable

1. Cut the wires at the end of the power plug of the existing DMM.

2. Place the 2 supplied white ferrules (RUT-00394) at the end of the wires (black

and yellow) and insert them into the connector of the power converter as shown below. Black to V & yellow to +V.

3. Insert the supplied connector with the power cable for the new DMM as shown on the left.

Replacement DMM module

1. Remove all cables from the

original DMM module.

2. Remove the 4 screws that hold the DMM.

3. Mount the new DMM with the bottom plate on top of the stand-offs and fix the plate with the original screws to the existing stand-offs.

Cable connections

1. Connect the power plug as shown on the

left.

2. Insert the COM2 plug as shown.

3. Secure the connector with the screws.

4. Insert the RJ45 plug into the DMM and

connect the other side of the cable to the existing

COM1 plug (do not insert this Rj45 plug in LAN

connectors).

Note: In case com plug screw fixing is not possible

then use a tyrap to hold plugs together.

5. Insert the Ethernet cables corresponding

the labeled connectors. Note: The combined

NMEA/VIDEO Ethernet cable needs to be inserted in

the VIDEO connector.

6. When installed, put in between the existing EBI connectors .

Finalize installation

1. After your hardware installation is finished; first switch on the battery breaker then

switch on the AC breaker on the bridge.

2. Connect via remote desktop and check if the system is performing well (No errors).

3. Stop the rec app.

4. Connect as administrator

5. Map via E: drive to replace the vdrparams.ini / vdr-cfg.txt files on the C:/WINDOWS

drive

6. Put the vidchan1(,2,3,4).ini files in the vdr apps folder on the C: drive

7. Update the Product Key and perform a commit.

8. After the commit, the system will reboot and run in the MyUser account.

9. Check if all the NMEA/Video and Audio has been recorded in a correct way.

10. Always send the error log with the new vdrparams.ini / vdr-cfg.txt and the correct

vidchan1 (2.3.4).ini file(s), to Netwave Service Department to comply with APT

regulations.

Note: Do not execute VDR Config Suite in any of the steps above

11. The Windows License key sticker should be placed on the outside of the G2 system (if

not done yet) as shown below.
