Focus on the speed and control on the dribble, the change of pace on the feint and quick finish in one swift motion to encourage the 1v1 aspect. Begin with attacking to an unopposed cone. Can go straight into competition between teams or individuals. Can further progress by taking cones away and play 1v1 attacker vs defender. SSG45 mins 4 teams of equal numbers (4) + 2 N if need be. • Always be prepared to adapt to your group’s needs. The ability of the players will always vary so try to find the balance between challenging the players and giving them success.

• Try to progress exercises 2-3 times per drill to keep the intensity, challenge

and knowledge increasing. (Unopposed- Opposed- Competition- Time edge, Dimensions, Number of players)

• Try to ‘layer’ the field to enable quick transitions between exercises. Try to

have the same grid easily dividable for each exercise to save time on set up.

• Allow quick drink breaks between exercises to allow time for set up or

transitions between exercises while keeping the session at a high intensity. *As this will likely be the last week of training for you and your respective teams, I would encourage some formal feedback for your players pre the winter break and give time for rest (a good week – 10 days). Encourage multi-sport activities and family time.
