GSVSCJMC is proud to announce the upcoming event: Media Fest “VAHIRANG” The Festival will be high profile event which would attract students from different colleges in and around the Meerut city. The college will get the maximum exposure and publicity which will be beneficial for future admission. ABOUT VAHIRANG The objective of the Youth Festival “VAHIRANG” is to create an unparalleled forum for the students to emplace the all principles of experimental learning, to know their intellectual capacity and artistic powers. Vahirang means “A Journey to external world” it opens a new ways of sharing mutual experience, skills and talent. It helps our students to develop Professional Skills like teamwork, Leadership, Resources Generation, Management and converting idea into practice. Vahirang is the blend of Subharti tradition of SHIKSHA /SEVA/SANSKAR/ RASHTRIYATA and provides an academically and culturally stimulating atmosphere. We include a variety of activity like filmmaking, theatre, Fashion Show, Quiz, Debate, Photography, Band and many more. It is platform to showcase their talent and win. Challenging the pre conditional mindset of the students and exhorting them to take up newer challenges. The intercollegiate media fest urges students to aim for adaptability, creativity and creative evolution through lateral thinking.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Essay Writing (VR01)

This is the art of playing with words where the contestants write about a topic in the most creative approach. If you have the flair…let your mind and pen run hand –in- hand to create magic on paper. It could take any form prose, poetry, script…just about anything. The more innovative and creative- the copy wins!

It is an individual competition. It will be descriptive form of writing. Time limit will be 1.5 hours and no limit for words. Participants will be judged on Idea Mapping, Writing Skills and Expression. Only sheets will be provided. Get your own stationery. No Electronic gadgets like cell phones, Laptops, etc. shall be allowed. No second person, other than the participants will be entertained. Don’t carry any extra sheet or paper during the competition.

2. Rangoli Making (VR02)

A team must have 2 members. Theme – on the spot. Time limit 2 hours. Participants should bring their own Rangoli materials. Participants can use any type of material e.g.-Rangoli powder, flower petals etc. Use of food items is not allowed. A specified spot (4 ft x 4 ft) will be allotted to the participant. Stencils & permanent materials are NOT allowed The decision of the jury will be final and no other discussion will be entertained.

3. Photography (VR03)

The participant has to bring his/her own digital cameras. The digital camera should have a memory card which will be formatted by the judges before the

commencement of the contest. The time limit will be 2 hours. The participant has to submit 3 photographs on the theme announced on the spot by the judges. No mixing, matching or morphing of photographs will be permitted. Software such as Photoshop etc. for enhancing images is not permitted. The organizers will have all rights for the use of these pictures as and when they deem fit. Digital images are evaluated on the basis of: IMPACT COMPOSITION TECHNICAL QUALITY SUITABILITY for the specific theme. Photo-editing can only be done to the extent of cropping, minor color correction and levels. Photograph should not have Watermarks, Borders, photographer's name or copyright mark. Judges and

organizers have the final say in any matter pertaining to the event. Photo resolution should not more than 300 and Photo Size should not exceed 10MB. The decision of the jury will be final and no other discussion will be entertained.

4. Face Painting (VR04)

Time Limit 2 hours Participants must carry their own material. The decision of the jury will be final and no other discussion will be entertained.

5. Quiz Competition (VR05)

The first round will be an elimination round. Top 10 scorers qualify for main rounds. In case of a tie, tie breaker will be used. The team making a lead of two points will be judged as the

winner. Quiz master has the final say in all matters associated with the quiz. The decision of the jury will be final and no other discussion will be entertained.

6. Mehandi (VR06)

Time Limit 1 hour Participants must carry their own material. The decision of the jury will be final and no other discussion will be entertained.

7. Poster Making (VR07)

Charts (A3 Size will be complementary; only 1 chart sheet per entry will be provided) Participants must carry their own kit. Time limit 2 hours The decision of the jury will be final and no other discussion will be entertained.

8. Debate (VR08)

Topics for the debate: What is more important in Competition: Winning or Participation?

प्रतियोगििा में क्या ज्यादा जरूरी है: जीिना या प्रतिभागििा? The medium in which the participant is allowed to speak will strictly be English/Hindi although quotations

from other languages can be used. These quotations cannot be more than 30 words long and need to be translated.

Points can be noted and Paper reading is not allowed. Participants are requested to carry pen or pencil and A4 size sheets with them. Throughout the debate the participants will be judged on the following basis: Relevance in arguments Strength of arguments. Defense of Argument Strength of rebuttals and responses Usage of time. Subjectivity and objectivity and Logical Consistency. The event will have two rounds. The first one will be qualifying round in which participant will speak for 3

minutes, from which a fixed number of participants qualify for main rounds. In the subsequent round participants face each other in traditional one on one style. The finale will follow traditional one on one followed by question and answer round. Coherence in speech. The decision of the moderator will be final

9. Street Play (Nukkad Natak) (VR09)

Teams should comprise of 10-15 participants.

Time limit: 12-15 minutes including wind up. Languages allowed: Hindi & English.

No MICROPHONES, MUSIC SYSTEM, SPEAKERS or ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENTS can be used but team can sing/dance and can use self played instruments (Daphli, Drum etc.) by themselves to create the necessary music or sound.

A 250-300 word theme should be submitted at the desk in Hindi and English before performance. Judging will be done on basis of CREATIVITY, HUMOR, CLARITY OF MESSAGE, TIME, PROPS, and TEAM

WORK. The decision of the jury will be final and no other discussion will be entertained.

10. Solo/ Group Dance (For Group 2-10) (VR10)

Participants can register themselves just once. Performance will be judged for technique, Energy State covering Choreography, Expressions, costume and

props.

Participant should submit their audio tracks to the coordinator at least 2 days prior to the event. Live

music is not allowed. The dance floor must be restored to its original state once the performance is over. On stage use of any flammable object whether electronic or not or breaking substances on stage is not

allowed. This can result in disqualification. Time limit is 4 to 6 minutes on stage (including setup). The decision of the jury will be final and no other discussion will be entertained.

11. Solo/ Group Song (For Group 2-10) (VR11)

Participants can register themselves just once.

Duration : 3-4 minutes

Participants should submit their audio tracks (if require) at least 2 days before the event.

Participants can use self played instruments. The decision of the jury will be final and no other discussion will be entertained.

12. Fashion Show (Traditional/western/fusion) (VR12)

Show consists of two rounds.

A. Prelims: a. The round will consist of an intro and walk b. Participants will have to introduce themselves after the walk. Judgment shall be based on the following: •Costumes • Make up • Walking • Style relevance. • Intro B. Finale: The round will consist of walk and questionnaire/talent showcase. Judgment shall be based on the following: •Costume •Make up •Walking •Style relevance •Talent/Questionnaire
