We carry early, mid-season, and late season varieties in each fruit category. Try the Backyard Orchard Culture technique of planting multiple trees (an early, a mid, and a late variety) in one hole, and enjoy a summer-long harvest! Look for the color codes (green/pink/ tan = early/mid/late). These fruit trees arrive each January. The following varieties are expected for 2011. Please call for current availability. APRIUMS®, PLUOTS®, These fruits are complex hybrids of apricots, and plums. The complex, intense flavor of both the Aprium® and the Pluot® is unique to interspecifics, much like a blend of fruit juices where the mixture is an improvement over any of the separate ingredients. Additionally, the sugar content of interspecifics is much higher than in standard plums or apricots, yielding fruit of incomparable sweetness.” Dave Wilson Nursery FLAVOR DELIGHT APRIUM Apricot plum hybrid. Not pollenized by Flavor King Pluot® 400-500 hours Late July- Aug APPLES ANNA Heavy crops of sweet, crisp, flavorful apples. Yellow skinned blushed with red. July PINK LADY Very crisp, sweet tart, distinct flavor, good keeper. Skin reddish pink over green when ripe. White flesh resists browning. Self Fruitful, 300- 400 hours. Oct- Nov SUNDOWNER Sundowner® has a sweet, crispy, white flesh and excellent flavor. Considered a late harvest variety ripening from October well into winter in most areas. GOLD KIST Excellent backyard apricot for warm climates. Freestone, very good quality, and heavy bearing. Early harvest. Should fruit consistently in our area. Chilling <300 hours. Self fruitful.

Mid May

KATY Large, all-purpose, flavorful freestone. Tree ripe fruit is subacid (not tart). A favorite apricot for warm-winter climates. Early harvest, 3-4 weeks before Blenheim (Royal). 200-300 hours, self fruitful.

Late June

CHERRIES

MINNIE ROYAL Medium sized red sweet cherry; firm with good flavor. Tree is very productive, with a low chill requirement. Mainly used as a pollizer for Royal Lee. Chilling <300 hours. Pollinated by Royal Lee.

ROYAL CRIMSON New, long awaited, low-chill self-fruitful sweet cherry, expected to be a home run for Zaiger Genetics. Bright crimson with superb flavor, this important new variety has the added benefit of blooming with Minnie Royal and Royal Lee. <300 hours.

ROYAL LEE Medium sized sweet red cherry, very firm with excellent flavor. Tree is very productive with a low chill requirement. Chilling<400-500 hours. Pollinated by Minnie Royal.

PANACHE Especially fine flavor! Small to medium-sized fruit with green color and yellow Tiger stripes. Strawberry pulp is blood-red in color. <100 hours, Self fruitful

WHITE GENOA A favorite variety for coastal climates, but also performs well inland. Greenish yellow skin, amber colored flesh, with distinctive flavor. Chilling <100 hours. Self fruitful.

JUJUBE

LI Chinese date. Round shaped fruits are larger than Lang. Reddish brown, dry and wrinkled, sweet and chewy (like dates) when fully ripe in early fall. Attractive, easy to grow tree: hardy, drought resistant, virtually pest and disease free. Requires long, hot summer. Very low chilling requirement <150 hours. Self Fruitful

NECTARINE

ARCTIC STAR Earliest to ripen of the low acid, super-sweet white nectarines. Rave reviews in trial tastings. Beautiful dark red skin, snow white semi-freestone flesh. 300 hours, self fruitful

DOUBLE DELIGHT Sensational fruit, one of the best. Bright red skin, with unusually rich flavored yellow flesh. This tree doubles as an ornamental tree with beautiful double pink blooms. Chilling <300 hours. Self fruitful.

OLIVE

MANZANILLO Manzanillo is the classic table olive. It's a large variety that can be eaten both green and ripe black. This variety becomes fruitier and less bitter as it ripens. Moderately cold hardy. Self-fruitful but produces higher yields with a pollenizer.

MISSION The classic California olive, this variety is the most versatile for the home garden. Whether for curing or oil production, Mission is considered a true edible ornamental. Colder hardier than most olive varieties. Self-fruitful but produces higher yields with a pollenizer.

AUGUST PRIDE Large, all purpose yellow freestone for mild winter climates. Sweet, aromatic, rich flavor is one of the best. Chilling <300 hours. Self fruitful.

BABCOCK A long time favorite white freestone peach. Sweet and juicy, aromatic, and low in acid. High scoring in taste tests. Widely adapted. Chilling <250-300 hours. Self fruitful.

EVA’S PRIDE Delicious, fine flavored peach with low chilling requirement. Medium to large sized yellow freestone. Excellent early variety. Chilling <100-200 hours. Self fruitful.

RED BARON Long time favorite yellow freestone. Large juicy, firm, richly flavored flesh. Showy double red blooms in the spring. Chilling <250-300 hours. Self fruitful.

PEAR

20TH CENTURY ASIAN PEAR Juicy, sweet, mild flavored fruit is crisp like an apple. Keeps well. Easy to grow, heavy bearing small tree. Chilling < 300-400 hours. Self fertile or pollinated by Shinseiki or Bartlett

SOUTHERN BARTLETT Chance Sport of Bartlett found on an old Louisiana homestead. Moderate fire blight resisitance. Spreading growth habit. Less than 400 hours chill requirement. Self-fertile.

FUYU Medium sized flat shaped fruit. Still crunchy when ripe, non-astringent. Chilling <200 hours. Self fruitful.

GIANT FUYU Larger, not as flat as Fuyu. Crunchy when ripe like Fuyu. Sweet, flavorful, non astringent. Easy to grow, cool or hot climates. Chilling <200 hours. Self Fruitful.

HACHIYA Large deep orange, acorn shaped fruits. Sweet and flavorful, but astringent until ripe. Very productive. Chilling <200 hours. Self fruitful.

Late Nov

PLUMS

AUTUMN ROSA Amber colored flesh, moist but very firm, and a heavy fruit for its size. The pit is small resulting in an abundant amount of excellent flavored flesh. The fruit ripens over a long period and holds well on the tree. Chilling >400-500. Self Fruitful.

Sept

BURGUNDY Sweet pleasing mild flavor. Red skinned, red fleshed. The only self fruitful red fleshed Japanese plum. Very productive. Chilling <300 hours. Self fruitful.

Late July

MARIPOSA Large, red fleshed, sweet, juicy, firm, delicious. Small pit, nearly freestone. Mottled maroon over green skin. Use fresh or cooked. Chilling < 250 hours. Pollenated by Santa Rosa, Catalina, or Autumn Rosa.

Late July-Early Aug

SANTA ROSA Most popular plum in CA. Juicy tangy and flavorful fruit. Reddish purple skin, amber flesh tinged red. Chilling <300 hours. Self fruitful.

POMEGRANATE

EVE Large size fruit, bright red exterior color, deep red arils. Flavor very good, described as cherry slurpy-like. Developed by University of California.. Chill requirement 150 hours, self fruitful.

EVERSWEET Very sweet, virtually seedless fruit. Red skin, clear, non-staining flesh. Coast or inland. Large showy orange flowers. Chilling <150 hours. Self fruitful.

Mid Sept

PARFIANKA Large size red fruit is sweet with a hint of acidity. Arils are red with very small edible seeds. Vigorous upright plant sets a heavy crop dependably. Consistently receives the highest praise for overall flavor. Great for juice or fresh eating. Some rate Parfianka as the best tasting pomegranate. Required chill hours 100-200. Self-fruitful

Late Sept- Mid Oct.

WONDERFUL Extra large fruit. Blushed red skin. Flesh rich, red color, juicy with a sharp flavor. Most well known of all the pomegranates. Best quality in inland areas. Chilling <150 hours. Self fruitful.
