Garage Studios comprises 18 separate working spaces, a shared workshop, and a painting studio, all located in a postconstructivist pavilion at VDNKh, which was built in 1939. It was originally designed as a model school building for 280 students and was later adapted to be a polyclinic with an extension.

studiosFourteen studios are offered as work spaces for Moscow-based artists for six months.

A photographer based in Kaliningrad. He graduated from Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, Kaliningrad (Social Philosophy, 2006) and the Russian State University for the Humanities (2011), before studying at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Moscow (2013). He has been a member of the Kaliningrad Union of Photo Artists since 2016. Mayana Nasybullova Works in painting, photography, and installation and lives in Novosibirsk. She graduated from Novosibirsk Academy of Architecture and Arts in 2012. Painter, performance and video artist, author of installations based in Moscow. He is a lecturer at Rodchenko Art School in Moscow and is on the editorial board of Moscow Art Magazine. Group exhibitions include the 2nd Kyiv Biennale (2015), the 1st Indian Biennale (Kochi-Muziris, 2012) and the 3rd Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art (2009). He is a recipient of the Soratnik contemporary art prize (2009).

Haim Sokol

Video artist. He graduated from the Moscow State University of Printing Arts and studied at Rodchenko Art School in Moscow from 2010 to 2014. Video, installation, and performance artist. She received her BA in International Journalism from Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 2011 and an MA in Philosophy, Art and Media from University of Paris III: Sorbonne Nouvelle in 2013. She has exhibited her work at Chapelle des beaux-arts, Paris (2018), Triumph Gallery, Moscow (2017) and Galerie Nivet-Carzon, Paris (2016). She lives and works in Paris and Minsk.

Photographer and media artist. In 2010 he graduated in Psychology from Moscow Oblast State University and went on to study at the Free Workshops School of Contemporary Art at Moscow Museum of Modern Art and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Moscow. Solo exhibitions include: Put a Newborn Fire in Your Palm, Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2014); Pastorale, Manege, Moscow (2013) and NOTMOSCOW, Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2012). Sculptor. She graduated in Graphic Arts from Ivan Fedorov Moscow State University of Printing Arts. Dasha Kuznetsova

Installation artist. She graduated in Philosophy from Lomonosov Moscow State University in 2012, attended Free Workshops School of Contemporary Art at Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2014) and studied at Rodchenko Art School (2015–2017). Painter and graphic artists, author of actions. He graduated as a Painting Teacher from Chuikov Kyrgyz State Art College in Bishkek in 2006. Exhibitions include: NO NO NO, Asanbai Art Center, Bishkek (2017); Duel, University of Management and Design, Bishkek (2012). In 2012 he took part in Arbat Fest in Almaty. He lives and works in Moscow and Bishkek.

Nastya Kuzmina

Works in graphic arts and video and makes objects and installations. In 2008 she graduated from the Moscow Institute of Architecture where she majored in experimental architectural design. From 2012 to 2013, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Since 2011, she has been a member of the group Urban Fauna Lab. Her only solo to show to date, A Few Words about Civility, took place at Taiga Center, St. Petersburg, as part of Manifesta 10 (2014). Painter, sculptor, and installation artist. She studied Painting at Taras Shevchenko State Art School in Kiev and Photography, Sculpture, and Video at Rodchenko Art School in Moscow (Sergey Bratkov’s studio). Painter, author of works based on digital printing techniques, as well as virtual and game realities, reflecting the artist’s interest in the relationship between man and technical characters and the latter’s production tools. In 2011, he graduated from the Faculty of Design of the Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design, St. Petersburg. From 2013 to 2015, he took part in an artist residency at Abbaye de La Prée, France.
