The Learner Profile, Communicator Students who are COMMUNICATORS are able to think and communicate in more than one language. They can express their ideas by speaking, drawing and writing. They can also communicate using mathematical language and symbols. How can parents help to develop students who are Communicators at home?

When working on mathematics homework, encourage your child to explain his/her answer to you orally or by drawing a picture. Ask your child thought provoking questions and encourage them to discuss them with you. For example: · What would you do if you were scared of someone at school? · Is there anything you cannot buy with money? · Should you get an allowance? Why or why not? Work with your child to improve his/her listening skills. Being a good listener is an important part of communicating with others.

PTA Reflections Contest Deadline: October 15th All grades and abilities are welcome in this fun art contest! This year’s theme is “Let Your Imagination Fly.” Students can enter in as many of these categories as they’d like: Dance Choreography, Music Composition, Film Production, Photography, Literature, and Visu-al Arts. GHES 3rd-5th Fall Dance: Friday, October 16th, 2:30-5:00 pm 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders will walk the Hollywood Red Carpet at Fall Dance 2015! The Student Dance Ambassadors have created a very exciting event—DJ Melvin will play all of the kids’ favorite songs, and there will be a dance contest, photo booth, and great snacks! We want everyone to attend! Admission is $3.00 and requires your signed permission slip that has already gone home. Pick-up for the dance will be between 5-5:30 pm in the gym. PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE!
