Dry Processing Department

• It’s the Department in which garment is under some physical dry processes. Where garment image or out look is enhanced after applying following techniques. Whiskers

– Whiskering, or hige, refers to thin fading lines formed from creases that are usually found on the front pocket area of jeans. Skinnier jeans tend to have tighter, straighter whiskers, while looser jeans have wider, more angled whiskers. Today, the majority of jeans are sold with pre-fabricated whiskers.

WHISKERS

• Whiskers Development 1. Transfer the image on template from sample.

(develop negative) 2. Transfer the negative image on garment. 3. Marking with chalk or sand paper 4. Rubbing

Template Types 1. Aluminum thin sheets. 2. Plaster of Paris pads. 3. Rubber like shoe Sole.

SCRAPING

• Scraping – To provide texture to the surface of garment after

sewing with the help of scratching material like sand paper is called scrapping.

Steps involved in scrapping 1. Load the garment on platform

2. Blow the air in balloon

3. Keep the pressure according to the size of garment

4. Mark the area to be scrap

5. Start scrapping vertically

6. Unload.

DISTRESS/DESTROY

Distress/Destroy To rupture or tear the garment according to the buyers design is called distress or destroy.

Grinding Machines Grinding is a technique used by the laundry to give that vintage distressed look that is so popular among denim consumers. To achieve all the rips, edge distresses and holes that go into a jean, the laundry uses an ITC 6-Inch Bench Sander to grind out all these little details. This process is also applied lightly so the "wear" looks refined. Since the jean still has to go through one or several wash cycles, it is important to be careful when using grinding techniques on your jeans. Only the heavily destroyed styles go through an intense amount of grinding.

DISTRESS/DESTROY

– Ripping, Pilling & Cuts

• These effects are created where to copy a real worn out and roughly used jeans. These are created by using sharp edge tool like clippers, blades and knives.

• Warp yarn is cut by a knife and the white weft yarn is left in place to create a beautiful worn out effect. The garment with cuts is then washed in washers to reveal the white thread. This makes the horizontal white lines of weft and if some dye is added to wash bath it will add more beauty to the garment. The secret is the cuts are always kept weft wise i.e. in horizontal to the garment. This will keep the weft in place and warp will be removed in the washing process. If it lets the weft is cut then the only thing you get after wash is a big hole.

TACKING/TAGGING

• Tacking or more commonly tag pinning is a very in fashion style in denim garment these days. In this process the effect is created by swift tag machines with the help of plastic or nylon tag pins in rigid form of garment to get contrast.

• Usually tag pin machines are used to attach tag pins to garment. The procedure is very simple and proceeds as; garment is folded on required area and tacked through folds.

TIE

Tie & Wash also known as crunch wash or creaking pattern effect is very typical in high fashion articles. The process is very simple but results to marvelous looks. Garment is usually tied with white cotton strips and washed with stones. The exposed portions got faded effects and a pattern of dark to light patches appears on garment. Different patterns can be formed by tying garment in different ways. More beauty is added when the edges made by tying get prominent in form of white lines made by mechanical rubbing offered by washer.
