Profile:

I am an experienced Interim Operations Director and Business Improvement professional with a track record of delivering tangible business improvement. I am a qualified Mechanical Engineer and have worked in Manufacturing Industry throughout my career.

I have over 30 years Operations Management experience working in manufacturing businesses and have demonstrated the ability to lead diverse teams of professionals to new levels of success in a variety of industries and business situations.

As an Operations Director I have managed the day-to-day business functions including Engineering (Product), Planning, Procurement, Production, Quality, HS&E and HR. I also have experience in Procurement and supply chain improvement initiatives in lowering materials costs and improving the effectiveness of supply chains. I also have a strong track record of implementing World Class Manufacturing through Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement with demonstrable improvements achieved through Kaizen teams.

My core skills are in leading and managing teams and running the day-to-day manufacturing operations of engineering businesses. I have a collaborative style of working connecting to people at all levels within a business. I believe I have strong leadership skills with a desire to succeed and I am a proactive team builder who can motivate and lead by example. Achievements As An Interim COO & MD:

• Interim Managing Director involved in the planning and implementing a post acquisition and integration of a group of manufacturing businesses to creating a new Group in Marine Safety. My role was to develop the strategy and manage the operations of this bespoke manufacturing business on a day-to-day basis and to plan and implement business integration programme over a 6 month period which included:-

o Improve sales forward order cover and strengthen sales pipeline o Integrate and recruit Sales team and focus on a sales improvement programme o Consolidate factories into one location with productivity improvements £500k benefitso Reduction in material spend with key suppliers delivered £200k benefitso New Product development projects initiated and improve speed to market o New products for competitive Value for Money (VFM) Leisure Products introducedo Offshore manufacturing to lower cost countries to deliver greater profitabilityo Operational Excellence improve cost, quality and deliveryo Improvements in management controls and effectiveness including KPI’s

• Interim Operations Director (Operational Excellence Programme) engaged to deliver an extensive operational, production and supply chain continuous improvement programme for a bespoke manufacturing business. This extensive programme required working at both Board level and, with the production operatives and team leaders. Staff, supervisors, managers and suppliers were fully engaged and through the collaborative and inclusive approach adopted within 9 months production schedule adherence has risen from 42% to 100%, end of line on time in full pass rate had gone from 38% to over 96% and manpower efficiencies have yielded over £900k of savings.

• Interim COO for an international manufacturer of Sub- Sea Remote Intervention Equipment & Control Systems. The business has a strong and unique heritage in subsea engineering, today it has grown to be the world's number one independent designer and manufacturer of work-class and specialist subsea remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). My role was to manage the operations on a day-to-day basis and to plan and implement an improvement programme using Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques. In addition a 5 % reduction in material spend was achieved through a series of procurement and supply chain initiatives and inventory reduction. The operational benefits delivered the business to a 15% EBITDA business.

• Interim Operations Director for an International provider of oil well intervention services business based in Denmark. New investment had been injected into the business and the high growth potential was not being realised. The implementation plan was to move to being a full service provider and to sell Oil Well Intervention solutions and value propositions based on profitable outcomes for the customer. The benefits of this programme were a 30% increase in sales and revenue over a six-month period.

• Interim COO implementing a business turnaround for an automotive parts manufacturer in Sweden. The business was loss making and had failed to implement improvements. Following an opportunity assessment an improvement programme was implemented and based on lean manufacturing and continuous improvement including inventory reduction improvement and in procurement and supply chain management both inbound and outbound. The benefits delivered were 25% productivity improvement and a 30% reduction in inventory holding costs plus improvements in lead-time and right first time quality.

• Interim CEO working in the Middle East planning and implementing the turnaround of a consumer goods business and creating a new manufacturing factory. The business was an integrated marble producer and one of Middle East’s leading marble exporters. The plans included increasing internal quarrying capacity and complete a new state of the art marble processing plant utilizing Lean Manufacturing to increase the company’s finished product capacity, and substantially improve profit margins and returns to shareholders.

• Programme Director for an operational improvement project for a FMCG company in Central Europe. The key implementation activities were focused on 9 packaging lines and included downtime reduction, changeover improvement and creating new standard operating procedures. The project delivered a 4% increase in manufacturing efficiency, 30% reduction in non-value adding activity and a 10% reduction in clean down.

• Programme Director of a supply chain project for a global beverages company in Europe including developing the SCM strategy and implementation for the consolidation and rationalisation of production, warehouses and logistics to improve customer service.
