No . F-3-7/2010-U-II Sm t. Mahasw eta Levi, an eminent social activist and writer, was appointed as a National R eseaProfesso r w ith effect 01/02/2006 vide this M inistry's N otification N o. 3-2/06-U-11 dated 1 0.042007.

After being so appo inted. Sm t. Maha sw eta has continued her w ork as a social activist and w riter and has con tribuith her work related to study of the rural tribal communities of West Bengal, women and dalits.

Therefore, in consideration of the continual work done by Smt. Mahasweta Devi, the Competent Authority herebyappoints her as National Research Professor for a second term of five years with effect from 01.02.2011.

4. Smt. Mahasweta Devi will be entitled to an honorarium of Rs. 75,000/- per month in accordance with the existingterms and conditions under the Scheme of National Research Professorship.

of University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956) the University Grants Commission hereby makes the followingRegulations to amend the UGC Regulations on minimum qualifications for appointment of teachers and other academic in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards m higher education, 2010, namely :-

Short Title, Application and Commencement :

(i) These Regulations may be called UG C R egulations on m inimum q ualifications for appo intment of teachers and otacademic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education,(1st Amendment), Regulation, 2011.They shall apply to every university established or incorporated by or under a Central Act, Provincial Act or aState Act, every institution including a constituent or an affilfated college recognized by the Commission, inconso lation w ith the university concerned under C lause (f) of Section 2 of the University Grants Co mm ission A1956, and every institution deemed to be a university under Section 3 of the said Act.

(iifi They shall come into force with immediate effect.

"In the University Gra nts Com mission minimum q ualifications for appointment of teachers and other academic sin universities and colleges and measures for the m aintenance of standards in higher education 2010, wh erever the followpare occurs :-

- "Pay Band-4 (Rs. 37,400-67,000/-) with Grade Pay of Rs. 12,000/- per month"

It should be substituted with the following :-

"Pay Band4 (Rs. 37,400-67,000/-) with Grade Pay of Rs. 12,000/- per month has been replaced by the new HAGscale of R s.67,000 (Annual Increment @3%)-79,000 with no Grade Pay. The AGP of Its. I2,000/- per month doesnot exist anymore, Other conditions of eligibility to move the above scale of pay will remain the same. However,the ceiling of 10% of such posts in the Central Universities and the criteria for eligibility and for performanceevaluation for this w ill remain unchanged.
