PRESIDENT’S COLUMN.
New Member day is over for another
year, and WOW, I did not think the line
had an end!
We had 181 people sign up for Mem-
bership on the 21st. Thanks to all the folks
that helped with the successful event.
If you are one of those new members, I
encourage you to get involved with your
club. Being an all volunteer club, we can
use all the help we can get.
Check the website, calendar, and
newsletter for things going on at the club,
and by all means read those ground rules!
The 40th annual Groundhog Day Egg
Shoot is on February 4th. Registration is at
9:00 AM, shooting starts at 10:00 AM.
This is a great event that has stood the
test of time. Bring out your muzzle loaders
and participate! Rules are patched round
ball, open sights, shot offhand.
You can even shoot one of them mod-
ern inline guns if you want. So come on
out and win a chicken or two!
Upland Game hunting ended 1/31/18
at the club and the shooting ranges will be
open full time again starting February 1st.
This is a good time to pull those
ground rules out and read up on the range
rules.
There will also be a few range safety
classes offered this year and I encourage
anyone that uses the ranges to attend.
If you have questions about activities,
pull out your sheet with the chairman
listed on it and call the person in charge of
that area, they will be glad to help!
Get involved, come out and participate,
be safe and have fun!
— Gary Smith

A VERY IMPORTANT WINTER WEATHER NOTICE!
The arrival of winter weather brings with it the realistic possibility that events at the club could be affected by hazardous winter weather conditions. Since January 1st, 2000 we have used the following weather policy:
If Greene County has declared a level 1 or higher snow emergency and is listed as such in TV, radio, and news broadcasts at 3 pm the day of any board or membership meeting, that meeting will be postponed and rescheduled to the same day and time the following week unless otherwise indicated.
Common sense should always be used when deciding whether or not to attend any club activity during inclement weather. To further determine the status of other sched-uled events at the club contact the chairperson in charge of that activity or refer to our website at www.gcfng.com.

The good news is that temperatures were mild and all the very eager applicants are now members. Lets hope they are all this enthusiastic about getting their meetings and work hours completed. Welcome aboard guys and gals! It’s going to be a great year at the club. (Fish & Game Photo by Tim Ankeney).
