How Can You Revise?
Revision Tips
The secret to doing well in exams lies in planning. You can create a clear revision plan and method of
studying that will make them feel in control of their work.
Tips for revision planning:
o Work out a revision timetable for each theory and theorist using this guide as a checklist.
o Break revision time into small chunks - hour-long sessions with short breaks at the end of each
session often work well.
o Make sure you have all the essential materials. Please do not hesitate to ask Mr. Khan if you
require any support in finding any information or have any questions.
o Condense notes onto postcards to act as revision prompts.
o Buy new stationery, highlighters and pens to make revision more interesting.
o Time your attempts at practice papers.
Learning Styles
Do you remember best by what you see, or hear, or discover by doing? That's your learning style coming
into play. Everyone learns better if they know their learning style. Some of us learn visually - that's by
reading and taking notes - whereas auditory learners enjoy listening and repeating aloud, and kinesthetic
learners prefer a hands-on style. There are plenty of on-line quizzes which can help older children
discover their learning styles.
o If you are a visual learner, make notes, reducing these to headings and sub-headings, and re-
writing what you can remember. So buy lots of file paper, post-its and blank post cards.
o If you are an auditory learner, learn by listening and talking. You can learn by someone asking you
questions and talking about the topics.
o If you are hands-on person, learn by doing or making something. This can be harder to practice
but any activity that is not simply reading or listening will help. One example would be creating
board games for different topics, rather than just reading about it.
THIS GUIDE IS TO PROVIDE YOU WITH AN OVERVIEW
OF THE TOPICS.
