Section B- Quantative Aptitude and Puzzle Solving:
All problems are to be attempted and explanation/logic of the answer is to be given.
Only writing the correct option or the value will not yield marks.
Question 11-Two stations, named "Heaven" and "Hell", are connected by railroad. Trains
start every hour from each station to the other, at the same time. A Train takes 5 hours to
reach the other station. How many trains will a train meet during its journey (i.e. after
leaving one station and before arriving at another station)?
Question 12-A group of four people has to cross a bridge. It is dark, and they have to light
the path with a flashlight. No more than two people can cross the bridge simultaneously,and the group has only one flashlight. It takes different time for the people in the group to
cross the bridge. When two people together go through the bridge, the time taken by them
to cross the bridge is the time taken by the person with highest crossing time:
A crosses the bridge in 1 minute,
B crosses the bridge in 2 minutes,
C the bridge in 5 minutes,
D crosses the bridge in 10 minutes.
What is the minimum time in which they can cross the bridge?
Question 13-A man drives along a main road at a constant speed, every 3 minutes he meets
a bus and every 6 minutes a bus overtakes him. How often does a bus leave any of theterminals?
Question 14-One marksman can fire 5 shots in 5 seconds while another can fire 10 shots in
10 seconds. Which of them can fire 12 shots in a short time? (Timing starts when the first
shot is fired and ends with the last shot but the shots themselves are assumed to take no
time)
Question 15- A 5 digit number has 2 prime numbers (excluding 1), 2nd digit is smallestamong the 5, 3 rd is largest, first is greater than sum of 4th & 5th digits, last digit is half of
the 4th one. What is the first digit of the number?
Question 16- 97 fighters participate in a friendly tournament. The champion is chosen for
this tournament by the usual elimination scheme. That is, the 97 fighters are divided into
pairs, and the two fighters of each pair play against each other. The loser of each pair is
eliminated, and the remaining fighters are paired up again, etc. How many games must be
played to determine a champion?
