The Classic will continue its long tradition tomorrow with parades, live music and a vast variety of vendors and food, not to mention plenty of fierce, competitive racing. “There’s going to be a little bit of everything,” organizer Duane Strawser said. Two-time Classic champ, Katerina Nash will be back to defend her back-to-back titles from 2010 and 2011 in the Women’s Pro event. The field may be wide open in the Men’s Pro competition as it was still unknown as of Friday if two- time defending champ Ian Boswell will be back to chase down his third straight Nevada City Classic, a feat not matched since Greg LeMond won three in a row from 1979-81. A handful of local riders will also be throwing their hats in the ring hoping to find the podium in their hometown race. The Kids Bike Parade gets things started at 12:45 p.m., with youngsters riding an assortment of different bikes down Broad Street. The Junior race kicks off the competition at 1 p.m., followed by the Masters Men’s race, the Women’s Pro race, the Men’s Elite 3/4 race and finally the Men’s Pro race at 5 p.m. The event will be announced by veteran cycling analyst Briggs Heaney, who offers complete and informative insights into the race itself and the individual cyclists, Strawser said. Course starts at Broad Street and Pine St. in downtown and continues counterclockwise to Union, Commercial, York, North Pine, Cottage, Main, East Broad, back to Broad Street. Course is a 1.1 mile loop with 120-foot stair-step climb from York to East Broad and an additional rolling hill along East Broad.
