First of all, I wish all our members and their
families a Happy & Prosperous Deepawali. I also
wish all our members and their families a Happy
Guru Ram Dass Jayanti, 2016.
Comrades, as you know, I had taken over the
post of General Secretary from 1st January,
2016. It was a great day for our Association that
the senior-most pensioner at Chandigarh, Mohali
& Panchkula, was honoured on 26.01.2016 none
other than by our respected Chief General
Manager Sh. Anil Kishora. The lucky member
was Sh. H.S. Aulakh, who was presented with
momento and gifts from the management. We
are greatful to our circle management for
associating the Pensioners Association members
on 26th January, 15th August, Bank's Day on
2nd of July and the cultural evening in the year.
We are also thankful to our circle management
for providing us North Block Hall at LHO for our
AGMs every year. In this connection, our personal
thanks to AGM, PR Deptt. at LHO, Chandigarh.
2. You will be glad to know that very
successful Pensioner's Meets were organised by
our Jalandhar Unit in December, 2015, Ludhiana
Unit in February, 2016, Mandi/Sunder Nagar
Unit in May, 2016 and our Chandigarh Branch
on 15th June, 2016. I would like to thank all
our above units but specially our Ludhiana Unit
where more than 250 pensioners participated.
At various places/units, senior members were
honoured i.e. at Karnal, Ludhiana, Abohar,
Sunder Nagar/Mandi, Muktsar, Gidderbaha and
other small units. Very well done.

3. The Annual General Meeting of the
Federation and the Executive Committee meeting
of the Federation of SBI Pensioners Associations
was held at Patna on 30.03.2016 & 31.03.2016,
where all the deliberations were made by the
participants thereat. Our main issue which we
have taken with the management i.e. 100% D.A.
neutralisation for all the pensioners/family
pensioners, Basic Pension should be enhanced
to 30% and updation of pension for all. Above
all, our most important issue of 50% of pension
to be paid to all the pensioners, discussions and
ways to achieve the same were held and now
it is known to all the pensioners that through
CBPRO (our Federation is a member of CBPRO),
which was formed prior to our Dharna at New
Delhi in December, our Federation is associating
with them with full vigour to achieve all our
pending demands through different platforms.
Five comrades/office bearers from our circle
namely S/Sh. O.P. Banga, T.R. Gupta, S.K.
Sharma, Tek Chand and Y.P. Suri also participated
in the above meetings.
4. Our membership is also increasing day
by day with the cooperation of all the modules
leadership's efforts. We are also greatful to our
Assistant General Manager, H.R. Sh. Ajay
Sharma, now Dy. General Manager, for allowing
us to participate in the retirees programmes
which are being held at Learning Centre,
Panchkula, where we are able to share our
views with the bank retirees and at the same
time to enroll them as our members. Our thanks
to the Assistant General Manager, Learning
Centre, Panchkula Sh. Lath, who is also very
kind to host us. With efforts of all the units and
new members, we are able to enhance the
number of retirees (our Association's members)
to more than 4300 out of the total pensioners
and family pensioners over 9500 or so. We are
also thankful to the management for providing
us SBI Officers Association's space for our
Wednesday meetings. In this regard, we are
really obliged to our working association of SBI
Officers fraternity. We are also thankful to SBI
Staff Association, Chandigarh Circle and SBI
Officers' Association, Chandigarh Circle for
associating pensioners of the Association in
their respective Triennial Conferences, which
were held in Chandigarh.
5. Executive Committee meeting of the Circle
Association was held on 26.02.2016 in which 20
participants from all the modules except from
J&K, took part. S/Sh. O.P. Banga, V.K. Kalia, Y.P.
Suri and U.S. Negi, our Vice Presidents from
Haryana, Punjab-II, Punjab-I and H.P. modules
participated. It was a general meeting and Sh.
T.R. Gupta, the then Offg. General Secretary
was asked to function as permanent General
Secretary of the Chandigarh Circle, unanimously.
The Central Committee meeting of the Circle
Association was held on 12.08.2016 on a very
disciplined manner and there was no
disagreement on any decision taken at that time.
Again, the above mentioned principal office
bearers of the modules and office bearers of
the Circle Association, namely S/Sh. T.R. Gupta,
M.S. Mongia, S.K. Sharma, Tek Chand,
R. Kaushal, K.P. Joshi also took part in the
deliberations. The accounts for the year 2015-
16 were passed and the Balance Sheet &
Income and Expenditure Sheet would be
appearing in the November, 2016 issue. You
would be happy to note that net surplus of
approx. plus 6.50 lacs has been made, due to
once again, efforts of all the members of the
Circle Association. the meeting was attended by
26 persons.
6. During this period, a new medical scheme
called "Tailor made Floater Group Medical Claim
Policies" were introduced from 01.01.2016. Policy
'A' (REMBS) has also been clubbed with this
scheme which is called scheme Policy 'B'. The

proper publicity was made by the management
and the Pensioners Association. It has been
reported by our members, who are associated
with this scheme, have shown their unhappiness
over the delayed payments of the medical bills
submitted by them. We have requested the
management and shown our anger to T.P.A.s of
Anand Rathi's, Insurance Broker for Chandigarh
to the United India Insurance Co. We assure our
members that every step would be taken by us
for the release of the payment of their medical
bills as early as possible.
7. Comrades, you will be happy to note that
in the 2nd Innings issue of October-December-
2015, two photographs of our AGM held in
November, 2015 have appeared on the 2nd page
of the magazine. This issue also covered two
articles written by our pensioners colleagues, one
by Sh. T.K. Datta from Abohar unit and another
by Sh. Nav Bahar from Shimla Unit. Other
achievements of the members and their families
are like this :
a) Sh. Shiv Kumar, our member from Shimla
won the prize of Rs.1000/- cash and
citation from Smt. Pritaba Singh W/o the
Chief Minister of H.P., for remaining 3rd in
the Marathon Race organised by the Red
Cross Society of Shimla.
b) Lt. Gen. B.K. Chopra, PVSM, and son-in-
law of our senior member Sh. S.L. Kapoor,
Jalandhar was honoured with the nation's
highest award.
c) Mr. Vikrant Gupta, Senior Editor-Sports of
Aaj Tak T.V.T.N. Group and son of Sh. T.R.
Gupta, our General Secretary, was
awarded three trophies by the Indian
National Television Awards Committee.
I alongwith my other office-bearers of the
Circle Association congratulate the above
achievers.
8. Many of our members contributed in our
monthly pensioner's mail by way of articles or
poems. I am thankful to them and request them
to keep it up. Many of our units are associated
with various social activities and earning good
name for our organisation. I am specially thankful
to our Jalandhar Unit, which has taken lead on
this good work.
9. During this period, many medical talks
from eminent Doctors from the Fortis Hospital,
Max Hospital, Ivy Hospital and others were
arranged on our regular meetings, which are
conducted on every Wednesdays of the month
at Chandigarh. A monthly meetings of our
Pensioners are also being conducted at Z.O.
Haryana on the 2nd Thursday of every month. IN
this connection, I am very much thankful to the
Deputy General Secretary of the Haryana module
of the S.B.I. Officers Association Sh. Pardeep
Gupta, who incidentally is Assistant General
Manager, also thereat, for providing us their
association's office alongwith Tea & Snacks on
the above meetings.
10. I, on behalf of our Circle Association, is
very much thankful to all the donors to their
Association's cause and pray God for their good
health and piece of mind. I would like to thank
personally to Sh. Raman Anand, Retd. Dy.
General Manager (Law) for donation of
Rs.11,000/- (Rupees Eleven thousands only) in
one go towards his beloved association and I am
thankful to Sh. Gulzar Singh, our member from
Narsai Village of District Ropar for donating
Rs.1500/- (Rupees One thousand Five hundred
only) for legal fund, when a call for Rs.100/- each
was given in the Pensioners Mail of August, 2016.
Comrades, as I have already requested you for
the legal fund, I may bring in your kind knowledge
that our members are coming forward happily for
this fund and we have received more than
Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousands only) from
our valuable members till now.

11. Comrades, in May, 2016, our Circle
Association suffered a big loss with the sad
demise of our beloved President Sh. K.K. Puri.
May God give him piece in the heaven. Although
it is difficult to fill his place, but the Association
has to move on and it is moving on the style of
Sh. K.K. Puri and his principles. In his place,
Sh. A.C. Rambani, Vice President has been
nominated as President.
12. In the end, I put my words on record for
thanking the local Executive Committee, all the
office bearers of the Circle Association, without
their support, I was not in a position to hold such
an important position of General Secretary. My
special thanks to Late Sh. K.K. Puri, Sh. V.K.
Kalia, Vice President Punjab-II, Sh. O.P. Banga,
Vice President of Haryana Module, Sh. Y.P. Suri,
Vice President of Punjab-I Module, Sh. U.S. Negi,
Vice President of our H.P. Module and Sh. Ujjagar
Singh, Vice President of J&K Module for their
nice co-operation during this period enabling me
to work in a systematic way. My special thanks
to my team of central leaders S/Sh. M.S. Mongia,
S.K. Sharma, R. Kaushal, Tek Chand, K.P. Joshi
and above all Sh. A.C. Rambani, who are working
with me as if we are running a family show. That
is their spirit of working towards their beloved
organisation i.e. SBI Pensioners' Association,
Chandigarh Circle. I am also sincerely thankful
to all the organising secretaries, zonal conveners
and central committee members of all the
modules. Once again, I thank all the members of
the Circle Association for their various types of
contribution for running the show on.
My sincere thanks to Sh. G.S. Grover and
Sh. S.S. Kumaria, who are the backbone of our
website and email work.
I, on behalf of our Pensioners' Association,
convey my deep condolences to the departed
souls of our few colleagues & their family
members. I also salute our those officers and
soldiers, who have laid down their lives for
defending their/our motherland i.e. India. We all
wish "Wo Amar Rahen".
In the last but not the least, I may be
excused for any type of wrong word uttered by
me unintentionally towards any member. I have
got utmost regard for my all comrades, who have
showed love on me for the smooth functioning of
our Circle Association.

HOSHIARPUR UNIT
Our above unit organised a Medical Checkup
Camp on 16.08.2016 for our pesioners. A
team of eminent doctors from Ivy Hospital,
Hoshiarpur conducted the medical checkup of
about 50 pensioners and some of the working
employees also. Assistant General Manager of
our Hoshiarpur Branch was very kind enough
for all his help for conducting th camp. All the
working & retirees staff appreciated this noble
cause. The medical check was conducted over

The meeting ended on a very optimistic and
confident note and all the constituents felt that
the united face of the CBPRO will make a big
difference and compel the Government and IBA
and Bank Managements to wake up to the
issues of Bank Retires with all seriousness.
In the light of the above CBPRO delegation
availed the opportunity of meeting Smt. Sumitra
Mahajan, Hon'ble Speaker of Lok Sabha on
23.08.2016, who gave a very patient hearing to
our submissions. We sought her good offices
and requested her to impress upon the concerned
authorities to come out with a comprehensive
justice rendering exercise to Bank Pensioners
and Retirees, who have been requesting for the
full implementation of the provisions of the
Pension Regulations in regard to all the issues
which we have raised in our memorandum
submitted to Hon'ble Santosh Kumar Gangwar,
M.O.S. (Finance). We had a very encouraging
response from her and we are confident with
her special stature in the Government and the
Parliament and the great respect she commands
from every body, we definitely stand to gain.
In pursuance to the decision taken in the
CBPRO meetings at Chennai on 19.08.2016 a
meeting was arranged to apprise the Hon'ble
Santosh Kumar Gangwar Ji, M.O.S. (Finance)
in respect of all our pending issues. The meeting
was scheduled for 23.08.2016 at 4.00 p.m. But
few hours before the said meeting, the Hon'ble
Minister had to suddenly leave for Patna on
some important assignments. However, Sh.
Gangwar assured us to meet Sh. Girish Chander
Murmru, Addl. Secretary, Deptt. of Financial
Services, Government of India and submit the
memorandum and other relevant papers to him
and also represent our issues before him. The
CBPRO delegation had a very meaningful
discussion with Sh. Girish Chander Murmru,
Addl. Secretary, who was not only well aware
about the details of our issues but was also
proactive responding to our issues. To sum up
we can only say that it was quite a reassuring
exercise and we hope for favourable
developments in view of our discussions with Sh.
Murmru, top ranking official of the Ministry.
CBPRO MEETING AT CHENNAI ON 19.08.2016
All the senior leaders of CBPRO met at Chennai
on 19.08.2016, which was presided by our
Federation's President Sh. R.N. Banrjee. Although
the deliberations were made in details and all
the participants gave their suggestions that how
to achieve our goals as far as our demands are
concerned. After a detailed and purposeful
discussion, the following action programme has
been chalked out by the CBPRO to escalate the
campaign for resolution of long pending issues
of :
1. Uniform D.A. (100%) to Pre-2002 retirees.
2. Improvement in family pension.
3. Updation
4. Anomalies in SBI Pension Scheme.
5. Pension for left out people (compulsory
retired people and resignees).
6. Proper implementation of Medical
Insurance Scheme.
7. Improvement in Ex-gratia amount to pre-
1986 retirees.
The action programme is as follows :
1. Delegation to IBA Chairman by CBPRO
leaders within 15 days from the date of
Chennai meeting.
2. Delegation to Governors of States by
respective State Bodies before 30.09.2016.
3. Meeting with Minister of State (Finance)
immediately in pursuance of the directions
given by the earlier Minister of State
(Finance) to IBA in regard to Pensioners'
issues.
4. CBPRO delegation to meet Chairmen of
all Banks in respective Bank Headquarters
before 30.09.2016.
5. Local CBPRO delegation to meet political
leaders.
6. CBPRO also to explore possibilities of
associating with the Pension updation
cases filed by individuals.

Aadhaar seeding of Bank accounts enables seamless transfer of funds by the Government to these Bank accounts
of the beneficiaries. The bank also stands to benefit in the following manner:-
• More customers and more visibility among all sections of society including those in the lower strata.
• More CASA deposits as all funds credited to beneficiary accounts may not be withdrawn immediately.
• Non-interest income - bank is eligible to get 50% transaction charges (25 p per transaction) and entire
cash out incentive (Rs.5/- to Rs.10/- per transaction). This benefit is available to the destination Bank for
all transactions under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) received by it.
• Aadhaar seeding of bank accounts can also be used as an opportunity by the Bank to fulfil the regulatory
requirement of periodical updation of KYC.
2. The facility of Aadhaar seeding is available in the Bank through following delivery channels:
Branch channel - Customer approaching the Branch for Aadhaar seeding.
ATM channel - Customer seeding the Aadhaar number through ATM.
INB channel - Customer seeding the Aadhaar number through internet.
Mobile channel - By sending SMSs by customers through their mobile number registered with the Bank.
Kiosk channel - Through business correspondents.
3. The process and procedure to be followed by Branches/Business correspondents for Aadhaar seeding of
accounts have been circulated by Rural Business Department vide e circular Nos.RABG/RB-IT-IT /2/2012-13
dated 02.11.2012, RABG/RB-MCFI-MCFI/1/2013-14 dated 13.08.2013 and RABG/RB-AC-AC/12/2015-16
dated20.08.2015.
The process and procedure to be followed by Bank’s customers for Aadhaar seeding through ATM/
Internet/Mobile banking channels have been displayed in the Bank’s web site www.sbi.co.in under the heading
“Aadhaar Seeding”.
4. The Government requires that all accounts receiving DBT transfers should be seeded with Aadhaar at
the earliest. Therefore, a full-fledged campaign has been started to complete the task of Aadhaar seeding in
accounts of all customers of the Bank at the earliest. Banking Operations Department at Corporate Centre has
been nominated as the Nodal department for driving the Aadhaar seeding of bank accounts, DGM & CFO at
LHO as the Nodal Officer for driving the campaign for monitoring the position of Aadhaar seeding on daily basis
for the Circle. MIS/BPM department at LHO will be co-ordinating Department. For a time-bound strategy to
achieve the target, under-noted departments have been designated as Nodal Department so as to monitor the
seeding ofAadhar in under-noted type of CIFs:-

5. As per the data provided by Integrated Data Strategy, Processing and Management (IDSPM) Dept. (erstwhile
DWP Dept.), there are 70,81,864 CIFs as on 31/05/2016 in our Circle which have not been seeded with Aadhaar
number. Keeping in view the Importance of Aadhaar seeding as mentioned above, a Dashboard has been created
on SBITIMES > USEFUL LINKS 2 > CENTRALISED PROJECT GANGA > BOD INITIATIVES > AADHAAR
SEEDING for monitoring the position of Aadhaar seeding on daily basis. Branches are advised to complete the
exercise of Aadhar seeding by 14.08.2016. Controllers are advised to monitor the progress made by the branches.

What is Aadhaar? Aadhaar is a twelve digit unique Identification number issued by the Unique
Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to any resident of India. It is basically an
instrument for establishing the identity of a person.
What is Aadhaar seeded A bank account wherein Aadhaar number of the customer is linked to it is
Bank Account? called Aadhaar seeded Bank Account.
What is the procedure for linking After sweeping the ATM card and entering PIN, the customerneeds to select
Aadhaar through ATM Channel? the menu - Service - Registration. In this menu, the customer will select Aadhaar
Registration (or inquiry as per his need).
He can now selct the Account type (Savings/Current) after which he will be asked
to enter his Aadhaar Number. Then the customer will be prompted to re-enter the
Aadhaar number for confirmation.

What is the procedure for linking The customer will log into www.onlinesbi.com and access the link “Link
Aadhaar through Internet banking your Aadhaar number” under “My accounts” appearing on the left panel of
portal? the screen. On clicking the above link, a new screen will open he will select the
account number, input the Aadhaar number and click on Submit.
The last 2 digits of registered mobile number (non-editable) will be, displayed to the
customer and status of mapping will be advised to the Customer’s registered mobile
number.
What is the procedure for linking The customer can send SMS to 567676 in the following format
Aadhaar through SMS? UID (space) Aadhaar number(space)account number If the mobile number is not
registered with the bank or in case the Aadhaar is already linked to the account, an
SMS reply will be sent to the customer. If customer’s mobile number is registered
with the bank, he will receive an SMS confirmation of the seeding request. The
Aadhaar number will be verified by Bank with UIDAI. In case the verification is not
successful, SMS will be sent to the Customer to contact any SBI branch along with
Aadhaar number or e-Aadhaar.

What is the procedure for linking The customer may visit any branch of SBI with a copy of his/her Aadhaar number
Aadhaar through Branch Channel? or e-Aadhaar.
At the branch, a letter of request (Format enclosed) will be obtained from customer
along with the Xerox copy of the Aadhaar Letter. After necessary verification, the
linking will be done by the Branch. and SMS will be sent.
What is the procedure for linking Aadhaar seeding functionality is also available in the kiosk Platform enabling
Aadhaar through CSP CSPs to seed Aadhaar number of Fl Accounts including Non-Home customers.
(For Fl accounts)? The Fl customers are identified by verifying his /her Finger print (FP) with Kiosk
Data Base. After successful verification, the FP and Aadhaar number of the Fl
Customer is sent to the UIDAI Server for verification. On successful verification of
FP with the Aadhaar number, UIDAI Server sends success message. On getting
the success message, Kiosk application sends the Aadhaar seeding request to
CBS directly
