4. SPECIFICATIONS FOR ATTACHMENTS
Applicable are technical requirements specified in OTU-1-2000, Section 5, and OTU-7-2000, Section 3, connected with attachments and equipment as a whole.
4.1. Additional specifications for attachments4.1.1. The lines of forces of clamping mechanisms have to go through locating and support
elements of clamping attachments in order to avoid deformation of the workpiece.4.1.2. All locating and fixing elements of attachments that condition the accuracy of the
part position and also locating and fixing elements conditioning the accuracy of positioningmovable jig plates have to be precise (interchangeable). All locating and working elements have tobe simple in design, small in size and easily removable. In assembling, fitting is not allowed at theexpense of these elements. Adjusting spacers under locating supports (when it comes necessary touse them) should be fixed separately.
4.1.3. Clamping mechanisms should be self-braking (wedge, screw type etc.) and excludespontaneous unclamping during machining. In case of using non-self-braking clamps of direct typedevices should be provided that ensure clamping of the workpiece even in case of pressure drop.
4.1.4. On transfer lines where the workpieces are transported through tunnel-typeattachments it is necessary to provide for sufficient gaps for basic car parts like cylinder block, cylinder head etc. to allow for modernization of these parts.
4.1.5. Special-type, built-in hydraulic cylinders are not recommended to use. Power drivesof clamping attachments should be performed using standard hydraulic cylinders mounted in anaccessible place allowing for their easy removal for repair. In order to rule out shocks and vibrationat big strokes it is necessary to use hydraulic cylinders with braking.
4.1.6. In order to rule out pinching of hands the gap between the clamp and the workpiecein' attachments with mechanized clamping should not be generally more than 5 mm or othermeasures should be provided to ensure safety of operation.
4.1.7. Attachments' design should provide free coming out of chips, lubricant run-off and ifit is necessary have the devices for their removal.
