Generic Combivent Inhaler (Duolin Inhaler)


Generic Combivent Inhaler (Duolin Inhaler) is used to make breathing easier for people with obstructive airway diseases, such as Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Bronchitis, Emphysema and related conditions.


The active ingredients present in Generic Combivent Inhaler (Duolin Inhaler) are Ipratropium Bromide and Albuterol Sulfate (Salbutamol Sulfate). When used in combination, the improvement in breathing is better than when each medication is used alone.

Generic Combivent Inhaler (Duolin Inhaler) is used for the treatment or prevention of bronchospasm in adults and adolescents with reversible obstructive airway diseases like asthma and COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

Indications


The dosage of Generic Combivent Inhaler (Duolin Inhaler) is 2 inhalations, four times a day. Patients may take additional inhalations as required; however, the total number of inhalations should not exceed 12 in 24 hours.

Warnings and Precautions

1. Paradoxical Bronchospasm: Generic Combivent Inhalation Aerosol can produce paradoxical bronchospasm that can be life-threatening. If it occurs, this medicine should be discontinued immediately and alternative therapy instituted.

Cardiovascular Effect: The albuterol sulfate contained in Generic Combivent, like other beta-adrenergic agonists, can produce a clinically significant cardiovascular effect in some patients, as measured by pulse rate, blood pressure and/orsymptoms. If these symptoms occur, the medicine should be discontinued.

3. Do Not Exceed Recommended Dose: Fatalities have been reported in association with excessive use of inhaled sympathomimetic drugs, in patients with asthma.

Immediate Hypersensitivity Reactions: Immediate hypersensitivity reactions may occur after administration of ipratropium bromide or albuterol sulfate, as demonstrated by urticaria, angioedema, rash, bronchospasm, anaphylaxis, and oropharyngeal edema. If such a reaction occurs, therapy with Generic Combivent should be stopped immediately and alternative treatment should be considered.

Contraindications

Use of Generic Combivent Inhaler is contraindicated in the following cases:

Known hypersensitivity to Albuterol Sulfate, Ipratropium Bromide or any of the inactive ingredients present in the inhaler

Side Effects of Generic Combivent Inhaler

The side effects that have been reported are tremor, nervousness, tachycardia, dizziness, headache, hypokalaemia, dry mouth, dysphonia, throat irritation, urinary retention, nausea, vomiting, sweating, arrhythmia, and anaphylactic reactions may occur. In very rare cases, paradoxical bronchospasm has been observed.

Side Effects of Asthalin Inhaler

Other side effects such as palpitation, fine tremors of the skeletal muscle (particularly the hand) and muscle cramps may occur. In a few cases, nervousness, headache, dizziness, fatigue, and sleeplessness have also been reported.

Overdosage Symptoms

The symptoms of Albuterol Sulfate overdosage are those of excessive beta-adrenergic stimulation, viz., seizures, angina, hypertension or hypotension, tachycardia with rates up to 200 beats/min, arrhythmias, nervousness, headache, tremor, dry mouth, palpitation, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, malaise, sleeplessness. Hypokalemia may also occur.

Overdosage Symptoms

Immediate hypersensitivity reactions may occur after administration of ipratropium bromide, as demonstrated by rare cases of urticaria, angio-oedema, rash, bronchospasm, anaphylaxis, and oropharyngeal oedema.

Overdose Treatment

Treatment of overdose symptoms consists of discontinuation of Generic Combivent Inhaler together with appropriate symptomatic therapy.
